• How To Become A Succes...
I couldn't agree more. I am a professional artist and have spent my life developing my art and my business. In the first half of my career, I made no money and thought I didn't have to think about money and that it would take care of itself. I thought art and money didn't mix. Over time I matured and realized the connection between art and money and the value of focusing on Business and ultimately embracing sales. I have been living off of my art for the last 7 years and would never have done this without embracing business and sales as integral to the artistic and creative process. I definitely agree with your message here Dan. Right on point.
Congrats 😁 that's my dream.
I really acknowledge that you had worked hard to achieve this wonderful dream and that you are happy now. I guess you also have faced many hardships on your way, but it will be so kind of you if you would like to discuss some knowledge regarding that as I'm a young artist and really want to go far and wide with my talent but have not much idea of how to become a professional one. It would be so kind of you to help me in my journey. 😍
Hi, Andrew
I'm an artist and I would also like to know about the business side, and how I could make money with my art, plz DM me. Thanks!
Though your art is not that great... it means the quality is not that importat if you know how to sell.
@@Kapojos I think the purpose of art is greater and valuable than the money we get from it. Focusing on the quality is more important but we also need the financial aspect of it. We need to learn the business of art.
One of my friends is an artist and a few years ago he tried to make a business out of it but after awhile he started to lose passion for his craft because he said it was becoming too much like “work” - if that makes any sense. He decided to go back to his roots and again loves what he does. In his case, his passion was better suited as a hobby. That’s not necessarily a bad thing either. Everybody’s different.
Absolutly 😊
I get that, the pressure of selling and having to market it to someone else's desires can destroy passion.
@@Jeca299 you need an agent to market your art 😊 most artistes have an agent. You can't be good at everything
@@emilieguillon-equitation421 will do 😊 thanks!
Respect.
As an artist, thank you for answering this
omgggggg yes finally someone like dan talks bout us artists/musicians ughhhhh forever grateful
haha Eyre Evergarden, sounds like you have been waiting awhile! Is there something you were hoping to hear?
@@ameliajohnston-htcgraduate5954 definitely how to market and be more business savvy as an artist who's had to focus on their art all the time!!!
I was thinking the same. A lot of artists are still trying to figure out the business side of their craft, but some completely ignore it or don't pay attention to it. Some of them think they can rely too much on their craft and be fine like it sells itself, but business is business, strictly financial and you need to figure it out.
I asked this question about a year ago. I think everybody understands that an art business has to be treated as a business but we don't know how.
*standing ovation* I was a freelance artist before I was a freelance writer. I wish someone like you had told me this when I was young. I realized everything I had been doing wrong as an artist once I learned how to copywrite. I've been teaching my 13 year old daughter business and marketing because I know it will help her in life, especially if she pursues digital art like she wants to.
Simply balance the two the best you can. Ying and yang. Without it, you can't survive in this society. 😊
I like it when you speak to the individual person or small guy trying to come up and business
As a Painter I totally agree it's not all about Talent... not to belittle anyone but so many so-called Famous visual artist doesn't really have technical skill... sometimes it's about building connection.... and only if I have you Mr. Dan Lok as my promoter I think I'm on the right track. ☺
He couldnt have explained this question any better. Thank you for great advice and clarity.
Thanks for making this video. An artist like me have absolutely have no clue how to scale music business in particular. I always wanted to do turn my hobby into career. It’s very mind opening sir!
This is so nice Dan! Would love to see more Artist content:)
My goal is to become a successful actress, film producer, artist and entrepreneur. Thank you so much for this. It helped.
This is so valuable just like all your videos, but I didn’t expect it to pop up when I put ‘how to be a rich artist’ in the search. Thanks a million!
Totally agree! I get blamed very often for my marketing and strategic approach from other artists. Some even say "A real artist doesn´t look after the money!" But when you check the contemporary art superstars, their career is strongly based on successful marketing and PR. Their art could be replaced easily, but they just know how to play it right and with whom to collaborate or not. They have an excellent business manner and lots of discipline - knowing that their profession has nothing to do (anymore) with creative self-realization. The focus is on the customer, the market, the galeries, the curators - and still in alignement with the own unique artistic language and philosophy. That´s why so many artist struggle. They just don´t get this profession (and business) right. The creative part is only half of it, if you truly want to succeed. The rest is about building the right relationships and connections and about developing a radiant personality that others love to collaborate with.
Was waiting for this!
you know your content completed the missing piece of puzzle ... thank you so much
Thank you for this, Cause all the talks are usually for Business about real estate or Copy writing etc.
Thank you Dan. All your advice are so helpful.
This is where I am at right now. I have to somehow reestablish the balance for myself to be able to match the income I make form art with the artist I am. It is comforting to know the struggle isn't an isolated thing and that there are ways to fix this. Thank you.
Thank you, very simple and straightforward.
Thank you sir Dan! I love all the points!
Thank you Dan! You are great!
I am an illustrator and visual/fine arts is hard to break into. My favorite artist as a business person is Tracy Emin. Her art is so personal and yet she's able to sell it, because she recognises to be successful you have to be at commerce. I still watch her interviews in the 90s.
Every time Dan Lok drops a video he answers all my queries. Big Inspiration! Love from India. ❤️
Finally! Great info and tips also for the lndustry. Thanks.
I'm really glad you made this video, thank you,
Omg I NEEDED this
I am an artist and this video really helps me that much. Thank you!
Omggg thank you. I’m trying to help my dad get reconize as an artist. He has being painting for 28 years and we still make so little money but not because of his skills, it’s cs we don’t know anything about marketing.
This is invaluable to my daughter wow thank you Dan Lok you really are a genius 👍🏽
I'm a big fan of Vincent Van Gogh. Lived for his art and became one of the biggest artists in history. Only sold one painting during his life. Never knew how famous he would be after his death. But he gave the world art, in a priceless manner. No marketing, not someone that got attention, but he was dedicated to make fine art. That is what deserves all my respect, not businessmen that just try to sell.
Always very usefull tips thanks 🙏🏼 its helped a lot !!
Thanks Dan! Working on it!
Thanks, Dan for your mind, really helps me to focus on my business strategy, talent is a Greek word for total or a sum, I called this gift of awareness, therefore I like to start a brand for the creatives called, Art IS Awareness, it should help the independent artist find an audience faster, it would be great if you could make a video with your friend in the future, how to grow a brand - choosing the right partners - keeping the rights on music, are very important topics especially for the artist, appreciate your work!
I loved the video! Thanks for sharing this with us
Hierarchies of dominance 101. Power and not as much talent allows you to climb up the hierarchy. Intelligence is also a factor, conscientiousness and high tolerance for stress also are factors.
Omg Thanks a lot For this video , was waiting for this for so long ... 😊😊😊😊😊
Ive got great story, hot geographical location, funny personality and something new to show about art. Hope to find good agency now😍
This would hit 1m+ views 💪
Love this video, thanks Dan!
I'm a producer, I wasn't aware of the business side of the music....... Today I've learned so much......... 😊
Subscribed and Notification on; Thumbs Up👍🏼
I'm an actor and this is exactly right. Too many young people come out to Hollywood not understanding this concept, because they're never taught it.
Thankyou so much for this video!
Thank you for this!
I love this Dan knowledge, is great business developer
From india
India 👍👍
Thank you Dan
full of knowledge this is great
Thank you for this:)
Thank you. I totally agree with this, even to the point where I tried many related businesses (like writing copy and so on) in order to get the money so I could be assured of having the capital to get my music out. None of them worked and then I started developing hand and finger and nerve pain, and I realized I had no more time for anything but to focus on the music and trust the universe that I would have what I needed when I needed it. I have always been appreciative of someone who could build something, and I have always appreciated the compassion with which you teach. Of course I would like to say I have broken through and succeeded. Regardless, when it's your core... your essence... it's my experience that it will cost you to go after it, but it will cost you even more if you don't. Try until you die, but never quit.
Thank you sir for making this video, so valuable.. Godspeed
Thanks for the excellent information!
Great advice. Thank you.
Hi Dan, how are you doing? I’ve got a question for you. In the 60/10/10/10/10 rule, i wanna talk about the investment basket. When you start making profits from your investments, how do you share the proceeds? Do they all return to the investment basket or you spend some on yourself and then return some for more investment? Please answer, I will really appreciate it.
SOME DAY!!! GREAT VIDEO VERY INTERESTING 👍👍

Artistry comes in MANY forms. Most of your fans are artists in one form or another. To be successful in anything you have to determine what success means to you and then strive to that end through work/research/passion
Thank you
It makes a lot of sense
