Nobody won much money in that first ATV series. It also got used on what from series 2 became the pounds for points round to decide who got the crack at answering the question when both players made the same score. I think thst explains the mess in thst ATV series.

I said this show was a mess to start with, now I've watched more of this episode, it's even worse than I thought.
