- Fun stay at Deer Creek State Park in Mt. Sterling, Ohio, M-Th, August 1-4, 2022. Absolutely loved our site #175, and it was perfect for our son and his family to set up tents way behind the camper so we could all be together, enjoy campfire, and head off to bed whenever someone got sleepy. Kids enjoyed kayaking and fishing, and riding our new E-Bikes! We finally found bikes that are small enough for us to fit in our packed truck, and they are perfect for us! Very good reviews, too! I think it will be a great addition to our camping arsenal.
Only one minor complaint about Deer Creek, and that is having to drive 2-1/2 miles to the boat ramp to launch the kayaks, plus the uphill walk back to the parking lot to get the truck after coming back from kayaking. We would love to find more state parks where we can launch right from our site! There was a trail near site 165 to drag kayaks down a hill and launch, but it was a bit too steep and treacherous for us - the kids handled it just fine. You can also fish from there, and swim!
Joe recorded his song for this video when we got home and spliced it in - it's a good one and appropriate for this camping adventure!

We've been to Deer Creek twice but the first time was just an overnight stay because it got late on the way home. Our campsite the time we stayed longer was ok but not as awesome as yours. I'll have to make a note of 175 if we ever go there again. We take our regular bikes but if we get kayaks later those E- bikes would be great. Are the handle bars adjustable? Also are the seats comfortable? Just curious 🤔.
Site 175 was probably the best site there - we were lucky to find it, and it was perfect for our son and his family to join us and pitch tents at the back of the site. We love our. e-bikes! There are definitely lots of more expensive and more comfortable ones out there, but ours are perfect for us. Not as heavy as most, and fold up very small, which fits our limited space. Great way to see more of the state park than just the campground!
