The problem with Lorettas is 98% of the people go there for the love of the sport knowing they aren’t going to win or make a living at this sport. The addiction of motocross is what keeps people spending money and racing. Shame on the manufacturers for cheating and treating that kid the way they did. I think pro AMA racing should be stock bikes with suspension And exhaust only. Then we’ll see who the good riders are when the factory rigs roll into these tracks all over the country. We would see how good these factory guys are against local pros that don’t have a fraction of the resources. This might be a comment that most don’t like, but it would bring more local pros into the mix if it wasn’t such an unfair advantage.

Sorry buddy but the industry is destroying itself. Most people would rather practice now than race. Our participation in this sport is necessary for its survival. $10000 bikes that can’t compete against $100000 Bikes make it a clown show, unless your just a spectator. I’m 52 and it’s gotten a lot worse for local guys since the 4 strokes took over.

Cooksey is without one of the ONLY real journalists in this sport. He has got the facts, and shone the flashlight on the cockroach in the room. Series has a Claim rule that was in effect... fact, Claim was made... fact, Brennan was harassed and bullied by the "promoters" of the series and the hottest up star's dad(Deegan), to drop the claim... fact, then the support team around Brennan was harassed and bullied by Matt Walker and Yamaha representatives to the point the boy had to drop the claim after being threatened with being canceled from the sport.
This is story is just beginning.. and it doesn't look good for Coombs, Cotter, Deegan, Walker, Yamaha, Star Racing and any other goon that is in the "in" cartel and using their power to block any hopeful young racers. The fact that they pulled this stunt at an amateur race shows you that they have no respect for anyone or anything but their bank account, and the "brand" they are building.

The reason I said potential is because I wasn’t there so it’s hard to know all of the facts. It sure seems like everyone is saying nothing happened but that’s clearly not true. That kid should have that bike in his possession if everyone acted on the up and up!

And I call bs that they just couldn't find his dad considering his dad was fully aware he was claiming the bike that had a time limit after the last moto. His motor builder also ramped it all up by threatening litigation. The depth of his motor builder's involvement in the kids purchase and all of the conversations from the initial outset is shady. He had no business being involved and its likely his involvement could have a more negative affect not only on him but the other riders he builds motors for too.
The only people that may have a case for litigation would be the other side unless this crew has some sort of taped proof of the conversations. What they do have is this crew name dropping and making accusations of some serious stuff in a public forum which could lead to a defamation case.

The rules clearly states that you cannot give the bike back. Also add that they also state that Brennan would have been subject to a 1 year ban had he done so.

I guess my biggest issues with this are 2 fold: the Deegans and Yamaha. First, it is rediculuous they are bringing that tech to an amateur race more less a b class race. Then refuse to let the bike go and threathen peoples livelihoods with credible claims that the owner of the kids sponsoring dealership being called by Yamaha and talks of the kid not getting a factory ride if he claimed the bike. There should be sanctions levied for that alone by the ama. Cronyism at its best where obvious Yamaha has way to much influence over the ama and the rules only apply to the "little people". The deagans also obviously think the rules don't apply to them. Honestly been skeptical of them as anyone not liking travis Pastrana is questionable imo. Pastrana would race anything anywhere, now we know the deegans will only race with a far superior advantage to the competition and not follow the rules. The deegans are dead to me and are what we need gone from the sport or it will be ruined. Obvious winning races is financially beneficial for the deegans and isn't in the best interest of everyone else as far as abiding by rules as they are. My only question is did the deagans really only bring 1 bike or only 1 star racing Yamaha bike?

All the people who are actually employed by companies will be placing the blame on Matt Walker. He’s the scapegoat. He’s why he was the one making the text and calls. Plausible deniability. Donnie Luce sealed his fate when him and Matt conspired to intimidate a minor. Tim Cotter sealed his fate when he allowed a minor to be in a room with him and Brian Deegan only for 20 min of intimidation. The actions of grown men in this case is what’s the most damning. They will try to spin it anyway they can to downplay their involvement. But with that said it’s obvious this was completely their decisions that ultimately, and hopefully will get Matt, Tim, and Donnie looking for new jobs. The fact they did this to a minor is the most disturbing. Don’t let these men gaslight and cover their tracks. They should all be held accountable. But Matt Walker in my opinion should be the one we focus on the most. He works for himself and ultimately can walk away without any retribution. His actions were the most abhorrent. How the hell is Matt allowed to be around minors after this?

After hearing this guy speak about, I'm starting to feel less sorry for them. First off, the rule was broken. Once the bike was claimed, it no longer belongs to the previous owner. And the new owners can do whatever they want with it. So why even try to tell them you'll promise not to open it up? That was a mistake, in my opinion. Secondly, based on the way the conversations were going at the time, they should have recognized the damaged was already done. They were now in a, "no turning back" situation. The promoter hassled them. Yamaha hassled them. Brian hassled them. And someone was threatening to interfere with the kids Yamaha support. All bully tactics. Even after they dropped the claim, many respectable sources in the moto media were still bashing them. And that will continue. So, they should have held there ground and taken the bike. Then started the negotiations once they had the bike. The rule is the rule and everyone knew it. In my opinion the only appreciate action by Yamaha or Star, would have been offering to buy the bike back. At whatever price the kid wanted. And the AMA should have 100% backed whatever decision the kid made.
Instead they used strong arm tactics. Now, he gets on hear wanting to apologize about what happened. Afraid to name names. And looking at it from their perspective to justify their actions. Well, good luck with that. The people who stood in the way of the claim, will never have a kind word to say about him and the kid. And neither will the millions of rabid The Degan's fans. The kid and his engine guy were in the right the whole time. Unfortunately their names will probably be drug through the mud, by the moto elites, from now on. They truly let a golden opportunity slip out of their hands.

Let’s be clear, I believe by the rules the kid should’ve got the bike, but let’s also be clear, he’s lying through his teeth, that wasn’t his money, how it went down doesn’t match up to his story. Brian Deegan was only in that room for 3 to 4 minutes, everyone says that but schofield, and on top of all that schofield has sent not to nice texts to Brian Deegan calling Haiden Names among other things, and Schofield Lied about his sponsor also, saying they took his bike because of this, but we find out that it was already planned the bikes went back after Loretta’s. The very reason Yamaha didn't want to let the bike go is exactly why the rule exists. Engine maker should have said, "you're goddamn right I'm going to open the engine up!"

All the bikes in mod class which this was in had atleast 15k in upgrades in parts alone.

Plus claiming rule at regional event is only 1.3 times MSRP
      Rule needs to be updated

  • @AntiPattern328
    @AntiPattern328 2 года назад +2

Claimer rules are all over circle track and other racing venues and honestly, they use the rule fairly often. If there's a guy without much money in a claimer class where you're supposed to be limited to X amount of dollars in the enging, they can claim anyone at any race and you basically swap engines. Definitely sounds like they had special stuff in / on Haydens bike not that he needed it anyway but that really looks bad on Star's part and they're going to remember this going forward and unfortunately, I'm guessing he's going to have problems getting any Yamahas or sponsorship from Yamaha in the future.

  • @Andrew-gu1zr

Despite what went down its somewhat naive to think that claiming a bike from a factory sponsored rider is going to go easy. All of these “meetings” should’ve been documented. Hind sight is always 20/20, but with as many camera phones there are nowadays, you can’t swing a dead cat without someone filming it. All of this should’ve been recorded via audio or visually.. All this back and forth is beating a dead horse.. Does it look bad? Yes… Were things done by the AMA rules? Probably yes.. At the end of the day its now become all hearsay.

My guess they both assumed the Hp motor guy was fronting the kid for the claim, and why the Matt guy Railed the HP motor guy so aggressively.
