Goodbye, sweet prince Mike. We will miss you. Take care of him for us Seattle! I hope his jump from coordinator to head coach wont turn out like some of the coordinators that have left the Ravens (Caldwell, Pagano etc). In any case, Seattle got an awesome one. Thank you, Mike, for an AWESOME season. It was nice to finally not watch the Ravens blow enormous 4th quarter leads anymore. Best of luck out west!
He will have a tremendous GM who will work closely with him and allow him to build a group of coaches around him that he is comfortable with. Ultimately John Schneider will provide Mike everything possible to make him comfortable and to make the transition to HC as seemless as possible. I personally think Mike Macdonald is going to do an amazing job as our HC and I forsee over a decade of excellence with him at the helm. Hopefully we'll get a Seattle vs Baltimore Superbowl I'm the not too distant future. We appreciate your understanding for us going after him. It speaks to the excellence of your organization and John Harbaugh that we are running to his tree for help to get back to where we want to be. Good luck to you guys and us 12s here will also make sure to let him know how appreciative we are to have him take this leap of faith and take control of a proud franchise who want to continue to grow our legacy as one of the best teams in the NFL.
The only 3 pro bowl players came from the defensive but ranked dead last in yards per game in the NFL. Talent is there, just needs a good coach for mentorship.
Macdonald did play football up through high school. He missed his senior year to injury and whatever chance he had at getting recruited evaporated as a result.
Yeah, Paul Silvi included that in a question to Macdonald during interview on King 5. That said, since he *did* only play high school level I think that's why it was phrased that way in this interview with Mina. Knowing he didn't play beyond high school.
Ending with Pete's chapter and opening Mike Mac's is like a Seattle sports dream come true. He set up the scheme that ended Huskies legendary run, it's only fair he make penance here and win us a SB.
from ravens fan great hire. mike makes great adjustments and gets the most from his players who love him I wanted Harbaugh fired and Mike as head coach.
@anthonysclafani3963 Roman is known for his power run scheme so he needs Blocking TEs and coming to Seattle he would have more talented RBs than what Baltimore had
@@DJKero17 He’d help the run game for sure, but the problem is that’s the only thing he’s good at. Hawks’ best group is their WRs, Roman is notorious for being as terrible at passing as he’s good at running. If someone is designing and calling the pass plays it could work, but you can’t be so 1 dimensional as an OC. Roman only gives you like 2 good years anyway. He does the same thing with every team.
I believe this is he best hire, mm is young and can relate to this introvert generation and help unlock their talent. Also this obviously is going to be JS first year he has the full control over the draft and free agency.
Let's say this is the 2024 NFL Head Coach Draft with 8 picks. The last pick was Commanders and they picked Dan Quinn. With the 7th pick, the Seattle Seahawks selected Patrick Mahomes of head coach. His name is Mike Macdonald.
Beyond his success the past 3 years, is the fact the Harbaugh boys have his back and that says a lot. The key for him is to have John bring in an experienced offense coordinator say, Eric B. That'd be perfect and then let Mac do his thing! Resign Brooks and bring In Queen!!!😅
Keep Jordan at the right price… Jamal has simply sat more than he’s played, and he gave up too many big plays in coverage to keep. Especially when Love and Witherspoon can play his spot with more versatility, and enough physicality.
Baltimore has rank out of the top 10 in defense only like 5 times in 23 years my dude. Mcdonald went back to the nfl because he would have a better shot at head coach position
Adams has to go. He can't cover. He can't tackle. He can't get to the QB or get them on the ground when he does. We have so many needs. LB. D line. Online. Safety. QB.
@TheFrenchPug I'm actually surprised we got him. The seahawks are getting set to be sold, who's gonna buy them? Who's gonna be the new owner? Will the new owner want to keep Mike? Those are things he had to think about before accepting
@@carlitos366 I am betting with the dismissal of Pete Jody is holding onto the franchise or this juncture would have been her time to sell. John had to have information to hold candidates interest about this, no way he takes on a six year deal if Jodi is about to sell.
I love how people are so confident the Seahawks are about to be sold just because of some clause that we don't actually know much about. Especially we don't know about any sort of time frame. Probably know the Seahawks might not be sold for a decade
I am 64 yo and have been a Seahawks fan since the Nordstrom ownership with ground Chuck Knox. I remember having less than 30,000 fans in the seats at the 60,000 capacity Kingdome during the sad decisions of the Behring ownership years. Paul Allen’s Holmgren run brought a fun run to a referee influenced Superbowl loss. The amazing run with Pete Carroll was very fun to watch, and was historic with post season appearances and Superbowls. Wish Jody would have kept with Pete to his end. Instead of taking a chance on a 36 yo first time head coach. For me, I will sell my tickets and wait to see if Hawks will be worth watching.
Lmao u must be blind. Cause Pete has given us a bottom 10 D for 7 straight years. As a defensive head coach that's just unacceptable. He got more than enough time to fix it. He couldn't. Glad he's gone.
"Sell my tickets". Please, you root for your team in good times AND in bad. If you were able to suffer with your Seahawks through the 1990s you definitely can keep watching. They're never going to be as bad again as the team was back then.
This guy is up against a major task. The seahawks have been pretty underwhelming despite the talent level. But the seahawks are about to be sold.... This is not something that a new coach wants to come into. I believe its the reason why it took schneider longer to hire someone. Not saying nethanial hacket shouldnt have been fired, but when a new coach comes in and then a new owner comes in after a down year... there are a few examples of coaches getting bounced in this circumstance. Dan Campbell had a terrible first year but was given a second. Hackett was not so lucky. New owners bring new expectations and that doesnt give a new coach the warm and fuzzies. Which is why we should have kept pete as coach at least through the sale of the team.
On the other hand, this could signal that the Seahawks aren’t going to be sold for awhile longer, if ever. I know it is one of the stipulations made by Paul Allen in the aftermath of his death, but there are legal ways around that stipulation if need be I would presume. If the team was to be sold in the next couple of years, do you really think that was not brought up in the interview process? So it looks like the Seahawks are going to be around for at least the next six years. Plenty of time to go all in if they really want to.
