Stay and scream is the only way if you aren't planning on going 5+ times throughout the season. But you really set yourself for failure with your timing and strategy.
We went on a Friday, got there about 615 after dinner, worked our way to the back, hit all the rear houses and then worked our way back to the front, we were able to get every house except the dungeons one I believe it was, left the parking lot about 230am and definitely got our money's worth. No fast pass either.
Ive been going to halloween horror nights in Hollywood for 9 years now. And I dont think ive ever seen it as packed as this year. Thankfully we got on all of the houses but one. But at one point in the night they closed 3 of 4 mazes located in the lower lot of the park because they were at capacity in their queues. They need to stop overselling on tickets because the lines almost become unbearable.
They could either limit the number of tickets sold - or they could double the size of the event. It would obviously increase the effort of hosting it - but they have two parks, they could literally build two copies of everything and run parallel HHN houses. When you buy a ticket it would randomly assign a park.
Been going for over a decade now. Went with express this last Saturday to the Hollywood park and man…I’ve never seen this many people. We waited for most houses even with express for 15-20 minutes. Overall, we got to visit every house but my advice for future goers this year or next is this: Do express at the least (RIP tour if you can afford it) or just save your money and don’t go. I know some people can’t afford the “better” tickets due to the crazy prices, but I’d seriously suggest just skipping it outright if you can’t afford it. The parks are just overcrowded and oversold. Anyways, my two cents.
That was me! I'm from the UK and was in Disney a month ago for our family vacation and decided to try HHN for the first time. I spent 80-90% of the night queuing and only got to do four houses, and now of course I'm home and I can't go back!
We were just there 2 Wednesdays ago and it was total madness. We had managed to get an express pass (at twice the price to normal) without the express pass We wouldn't have stayed at all and most likely would have only seen 3-4 houses. As it was even with express pass we didn't get back to the hotel till after 1am. Way to many people, not only the lines were nuts, but the exit lanes you even had to walk like a mile only to get back in another line right beside were you came out last time. There was probably twice as many people for hhn then at the park during a busy day. The houses for the most part were decent but not scary at all since they ram you through the houses as fast as possible, so nothing scares you since all the scares are shown to people ahead of you before you get there. Overall I'd rate the whole hhn evening as a 3/10
How can anyone look at this mess and say “hey that looks fun, let’s head there tonight!”….they are way overselling this stuff. Disney over sells their Halloween and Christmas parties too. Greed takes precedence over guest experience every time, you can count on it….

We’ve done the RIP tour tonight. Then after we went around and did 4 houses in 35 minutes. In the regular lines. From 1:10am. There’s ways and means of doing the houses. Late at night is a good option!
It depends what day you go or what time. I went at around 7:30-7:50pm and I was able to manage to go to every single house. So it’s really not too bad just a lot of waiting. A good tip is to go to the houses that are furthest away and then you make it to where the start is. Because everyone starts exactly in the front so you gotta go to the furthest where not a lot of people are at.

However due to how the dates of our holiday fell and the nights HHN was open we were only left with the option of the single night, we were going to get express but the cost was around $300 dollars each. We didn’t consider this to be value for money. The lines were stupidly long before midnight but after 12am we were in and out of Stranger Things and exorcist in about 15mins. The reason the lines are so long is because the Universal staff don’t blend in the express passes with the regular line. This means there is no movement at all for the regular line as the express pass holders stroll up. Had a great night and was back at the hotel eating pizza by 1.50pm. Feet ached a bit the next day and we are already looking forward to next years event.
The people telling you that you are whining, clearly have not been to Halloween Horror Nights in the past. This was my 10th year on a row of HHN and the overcrowding has reached a depressing peak. I went with JUST THE INTENTION OF SEEING Stranger Things, but UPON ENTERING, It was already 3 hours…. We weren’t about to waste our entire night in one house so we settled for whatever was shortest with the longest line we waited in was The Last of Us and 2.5 hours. I think im skipping out next year unless they make a PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT about the severe overcrowding. I hope they limit the amount of people allowed each night. The whole “scare factor” of the zones is completely lost when theres so many people in the way, you cant even see the scare actors because they just blend into the massive crowds walking back and forth. It’s not enjoyable to spend the majority of your time in the backstage lots, waiting in line and expending energy just standing there.
I've come to the conclusion that these premium fast passes are essential for a good experience in these parks. Sure you can still hit some rides and attractions without it, but ever since Genie+ has come out it's like they purposely favor the lightning lane over standby. I truly hate whoever made these options cost money.
Was there Sunday night, it was a sold out night, had an express pass and got all houses done by 10pm, had the rest of the night to do all the other stuff. Express is worth it 🤷♀️
My first time going will hopefully be in a couple years and I am already researching 😂wanna do 5 days cause I want to do the parks in the day as well You bet your butt I'm splurging on express passes for HHN
The youtube app I use allows me to see dislikes and this video is currently at 1.7k likes and 3.2k dislikes. I'm out of the loop. Can someone explain to me why someone with so many susbcribers is this unpopular? Did he kick somebody's puppy or something? A lot of you clearly hate this man! Spill the tea!
Been going since 2014 with express lines have been brutal since 2014. We waited over 2 hours back then and since then never waited more then 20 min with express every year. It’s like this every year I don’t know why people act so surprised of the crowds lol
First time watching Kyle video never seen an RUclipsr complain as much as he does. What is his deal with always taking the first bites with the food before giving it to his girlfriend??
I just went to my 1st HHN on 9/17. We had the scream early so went in at 3, did some rides then got in the stay in scream. Did stranger things first..then exorcist and 3 other house. The lines were crazy!!! And it was a real feel of 99 so was super hot and uncomfortable. The crowds were ALOT! They def let ALOT of ppl in for this and so the lines are just insane. I liked the scare zones lol. We left little after midnight as just couldn’t deal with the heat and lines anymore.
Man we went on the second night of opening, one of the biggest nights in Hollywood area, and they dont have the speed walk ways to the place which can add like 20/25 mins to walk up to the place. We were able to go to every house but one on a regular ticket. Shopping, shows and all. We just planned it strategically. Always start front to back to minimize the walking. Plus the wait times are not actually accurate they put the most because it can take that long.
Went to hhn hollywood with no complaints. Went on a weekday, express land & early access. Got there 2 hrs early ate at citywalk got in 5:30pm. Longest line we waited was 20 min. Definitely packed but it was our 4th hhn experience. So i knew what i was getting myself into. I hope you have a better experience.
I've learned the hard way to book multiple nights for HHN. Even with express you still need it if you don't want to be overwhelmed or rushing everywhere. Especially since me and my partner love to take our time and take breaks between activities.
At least with you being a local, you can go back again and again. I feel bad for the people who are on vacation that only has one or two shots to do everything. Great video!
Definitely makes me want to come down for HHN. Love the interaction with other scare actors. Thanks for sharing this with us. Caught up now. Lol. Keep being you and being healthy in all aspects of your life. ✌️🎉🌞🌻🤩
Disney does the same by overselling tickets with the Halloween parties it’s an absolute clusterf$$k! Not even enjoyable with so many people from our past experiences…😢
It stinks that it was so crowded. Maybe if more people complain they can somehow fix this crowding issue. At least you went and were able to show future visitors. Now they won’t be shocked and can make arrangements to have a successful visit !! ❤
The two times I went to HHN, my daughter and I went to the parks during the day. That way we were already in the park and were able to get into one of the longer lines before they even opened the gates to everyone else. But after the gates opened, all bets were off. Looks way more crowded than when we last went two years. ago. Thanks for taking us with you and showing us around. 😁
I lined up at 3:30 without express and did Stranger Things, Exorcist, Bloodmoon, Chucky, and Last of Us. I wanted to do a few more but I was exhausted and left by 9:30. One of those things I’m glad I did but will never go again. The crowds and wait times were really overwhelming and it’s difficult to enjoy the houses when you feel like you’re rushing through.
Thanks for keeping it real Kyle and Casey! It was a nightmare! $1100 for 2 HHN tix, 2 express and 2 nights at hotel. You go thru the house in a constant flow of people. Maybe you're the lucky one to get the scare, but usually we were getting the closed boo hole. The scare zones aren't scary either.
@@backload123 it was actually 1145. Express passes were almost $400 and the $1100 included the on site hotel. I don't think FL residents get discounts for HHN.
@@dgall4257 thanks for the clarification. I haven't been in a number of years. Coca cola and Burger king I know used to give u a discount if you a soda there. You have to use the coupon on your soda cup. It was only good for Florida residents and on non peak nights. So you needed to go Monday thru Thursday night. And not Halloween night or any other night they deemed special. The ticket was about 45 dollars for non peak nights with the discount n u had to buy them early online. Express passes were like 50 I think. We never got them because we didn't need them if u got there at opening time u were gonna be done with all the houses n shows before closing time. You wanted to go to the least popular houses first. I know prices have gone up a lot like Disney but that's just too much! And I hear the houses aren't as scary as they used to be too. Sometimes we would get an on suite for 349 dollars a night n split the cost. It came with complimentary breakfast, free transportation, early entry, etc. Also included a express pass. Sorry you had to pay that much. At that price its not worth it. Go to darkness in St Louis, Missouri. Much cheaper and said to be the scariest haunted house in the world. It's a huge multi story building so you'll be in there for a long time. Think multiple houses one right after the other.
Halloween horror nights is ridiculously oversold and most of their scares are all the same: strobe light and loud noise while the monster steps out and steps back in. Not worth the price at all.
I agree with you they let so many people in!! We went for the first time ever this year on a weeknight and the crowds were OUT OF CONTROL!! They should cap it like you said
That’s just nuts!! It’s way too crowded to enjoy it. For locals, going multiple times doesn’t seem worth it. You could only enjoy parts of the event each time. Makes you almost have to spend the money on an Express pass or VIP.
We found we did well by g on my on a Wednesday, then get early entry, do a few houses and when the lines get too long, go have dinner and do rides, then hit up a couple more houses after midnight.
I definitely think the crowd levels are getting out of control for hhn. It's always been a busy event but from my experience last year, it was definitely a case of being essential to do stay and scream if you really want to do it all in 1 night and especially without express
Kyle please learn how to share. It’s annoying how you constantly take overly large bites or eat more than half consistently. And the “hurry before I eat it all” and to dang near really eat it all 👎🏽 do better.
We went last Friday Night. We only had 1 wait of 80 mins. other than that, none were very long. Saw all 10. The trick is relax between 8-11. Have dinner. Between 11-2 they are almost all walk ons.
Me and my friend are HHN veterans and we were overwhelmed by how over crowded it was. Pretty disappointed that universal is totally ok with packing us into the park like sardines for this event. We had express so that was a good idea but it was so obvious to us that those who can’t afford them, have pretty much no possibility of doing everything in one night. They need to extend the event or stop being so greedy with the capacity.
First time going to hhn on 10-26 and WOW at the people!! Was only able to see about 5 of the haunted houses because of the 50 to 100 minute wait times.. Seems like a bit of a safety concern. In an emergency you couldn't get everyone out of the park in a timely fashion.
I just left universal....i stayed at the cabana bay beach resort...and when i tell u when i left the park at 5pm and went back 2 the hotel....it was attack of the teens in the lobby...it was like 60 to 75 teens waiting to go to hhn..even the server at the bubba gump restaurant said its a waste of time..its just to many people in the park..open islands of adventure and put some houses there
The way I see it…just don’t go if you are someone that hates crowds and long lines because you will get both at HHN’s. That’s also why they have to let a constant flow of people walk through…if they stopped people between groups then instead of waiting two hours for one house you would be waiting three or four. I personally would rather wait longer and not see all the jump scares before I get to them..to me it ruins the whole experience for me. I love Universal Studios as a park. Last year I went to HHN for the first time and I liked it but for these reasons not sure I would go again.
My bladder isnt good enough for those waits. I'm a introvert anyway so I'm not missing out on the HHN. Great video tho. Thanks for reminding me why I dont do stuff like this anymore.
You should come out to California. No not for Universal. For Knott’s Scary Farm’s very special once in a lifetime 50th anniversary year. It’s much more manageable than this. Plus it’s the park that started all the Halloween theme park events to begin with! The original!!
Sheesh! Well add being handicap they want you to get pre approved days before you visit so that you can make “reservations” for rides because ppl abused the system. But once you get there you have to stand in a long ADA line which defeats the purpose when you don’t even have a wheelchair yet which is usually sold out lol. This was Cali. It was a nightmare somewhat.
Lines are gonna be long. Especially on a weekend. Either pay for the express pass, or prepare for lines. That being said, I do feel as if they oversold this year. Even with express pass, there was a 20-30 min wait for lines Btw, your best bet is to go 11pm-2am when people are tired and leaving. Lines way down.
Everyone that goes to halloween horror nights should do there research prior to going our first time going we alreafy knew fast passes was the way to go nothing more enjoyable then seeing the mean faces as we slide passed in the fast pass line 😂😂😂😂
Hi Kyle, Hi Casey, sheesh, busy night 😳 Lines are just a part of my experience when I'm there - hazard of coming down for vacation. When I do get down for HHN, definitely booking Express as early as possible 😂
I’m done with HHN Hollywood after last year. They oversell the events to the point where with express you’re still waiting 20-45 minutes in line. Even after waiting in line, the pacing in the houses is not done well. We moved so slow we saw every scare before we passed it. There are better ways I can spend $260. I’m an old grump, but HHN in 2009 was a fraction of the price and done better!
Those crowds look similar to when we showed up at Disney World the week before Halloween weekend 2021 and couldn’t ride anything because every line without genie plus was 1.5-2 hour wait. It was such a disappointment since I had dreamed my whole life of going to DisneyWorld. Plus they had a food festival going on but those lines were way too long to stand in also. And it was crowds, shoulder to shoulder walking everywhere. We tried Universal couple days after that and had a much better experience. There were still a lot of people there but they were spread out and we were able to ride 13 rides that day without express passes. Crazy to see how crowded HHN gets but I’d LOVE to do it someday. Personally will probably plan on doing Stay and Scream combined with Express Pass all purchased ahead of time.
Express is $150+ depending on the day on top of general admission. It’s sold out online for like the next 2 weeks. You can try and buy it when you get to the park if it’s sold out online but I believe people say it’s even more expensive in the park. They also have one you can get that only works after 11pm for a little cheaper.
Thanks for the info. I bought tickets for my kids to go for the first time this Saturday and I keep seeing g videos about how crowded it is. We have never gone so didn’t realize when I bought the tickets that I should have bought the express pass and now I feel like they won’t be able to go into too many houses with these crowds☹️
@@MyMissy78 Did you purchase the Stay and Scream option? That would help them tremendously if so. There are multiple youtube videos on how to best use your time. The Pugh two is one channel for great videos. They will break down where to start in the park and which houses to hit first. I hope this helps. Its a lot of money to not be able to do as much as possible.
@@MyMissy78Our favorites out of the 7 we did were Stranger Things, The Last of Us, Oddfellows, and the Exorcist. Chucky looks bad and I haven’t heard anything good about it. We weren’t that impressed with Monsters Unmasked, Dueling Dragons or Yeti. We didn’t do chucky, darkest deal or bloodmoon because we didn’t feel like waiting. If you don’t want to spend the extra I would just pick your top 5 houses and try and do those. Definitely do the Nightmare Fuel show also. The only food we got were Pizza Fries because those were a must! I wasn’t going to stand in the long lines at the other food booths. The pizza fries location next to ET never had a line.

They oversold ALL the passes..this past Sunday was INSANE
I've come to the conclusion that these premium fast passes are essential for a good experience in these parks. Sure you can still hit some rides and attractions without it, but ever since Genie+ has come out it's like they purposely favor the lightning lane over standby. I truly hate whoever made these options cost money.
If it didn't cost money then everyone would have express. Then it wouldn't be express anymore 😅
When crowded, just do the scare zones, have some food, enjoy the shows, and do maybe one house (if you get there super early).
Was there Sunday night, it was a sold out night, had an express pass and got all houses done by 10pm, had the rest of the night to do all the other stuff. Express is worth it 🤷♀️
My first time going will hopefully be in a couple years and I am already researching 😂wanna do 5 days cause I want to do the parks in the day as well
You bet your butt I'm splurging on express passes for HHN
He’s the woman in the relationship
Chews with his mouth open too sometimes
@@xxalexisxisxcoolxx lol I hate that and the smacking ugh
Really? Have you watched the Trackers? They complain about everything.
If this was a Disney event he would be skipping and galavanting around seeing if he could "rope drop" the lines. We see right through you, Kyle.
I find it irritating when “Disney” people complain incessantly about Universal. If it’s not for you, why go at all?
I did in my last video here, thanks! Just too crazy
I'm not a Disney person but HHN looks miserably crowded.
He whines about everything
Glad someone else can see the difference 👍🙏
Why would anyone subject themselves to this torture of waiting? Just go to a local haunt.
When the vamps all gather together like that they are doing a cast change
Disney does the same by overselling tickets with the Halloween parties it’s an absolute clusterf$$k! Not even enjoyable with so many people from our past experiences…😢
It stinks that it was so crowded. Maybe if more people complain they can somehow fix this crowding issue. At least you went and were able to show future visitors. Now they won’t be shocked and can make arrangements to have a successful visit !! ❤
Unfortunately, I wonder if this is somewhat influenced by Disney's outrageous prices and declining quality...
I'm sorry? Even if ur not a Florida resident it's less than 300 dollars.
@@dgall4257 you spent that much money because you decided to stay at the expensive resort hotel 🤣 and the express passes are only about 170 each
@@mr.mopedmadness3441 Purchased 2 Express. You must go into the fog alone and only have to buy one lol. Have you been this year?
Hey, KP + Casey! Here at UO HHN, scare actors in the houses work 45 minute shifts then switch with their counterpart.
yah do you like it? seems fun, I did it in my own haunt
thanks!
They should cap it like you said
Was the iPhone plug really necessary?
I think I have the same Crocs if I'm not mistaken, if they are Crocs. If so, then gratz.
That’s just nuts!! It’s way too crowded to enjoy it. For locals, going multiple times doesn’t seem worth it. You could only enjoy parts of the event each time. Makes you almost have to spend the money on an Express pass or VIP.
thats what a lot of locals do, agreed
I went in 2022, and the lines and crowds were just absurd. Only saw about three out of 10 houses. Won't go back
We found we did well by g on my on a Wednesday, then get early entry, do a few houses and when the lines get too long, go have dinner and do rides, then hit up a couple more houses after midnight.
That crowd was crazy!! Way too many people!
My friend and I went in October, and we only got to do 7 of the 10 haunted houses. Stayed til 2 am.
The ones I work at our breaks are 15 minutes but we get 2 or 3 depending on the situation
Scare actors are usually 45 minutes on and 45 off!
I had such fun last year, this year not so much the long lines were ridiculous
when i worked at screamageddon we didnt get any break that i remember but we alo didnt work that long just from 6pm to 12am or some night 1am
Looks like somebody might be visiting Florida for HHN!
First time going to hhn on 10-26 and WOW at the people!! Was only able to see about 5 of the haunted houses because of the 50 to 100 minute wait times.. Seems like a bit of a safety concern. In an emergency you couldn't get everyone out of the park in a timely fashion.
I just left universal....i stayed at the cabana bay beach resort...and when i tell u when i left the park at 5pm and went back 2 the hotel....it was attack of the teens in the lobby...it was like 60 to 75 teens waiting to go to hhn..even the server at the bubba gump restaurant said its a waste of time..its just to many people in the park..open islands of adventure and put some houses there
Casey, I love your skeleton earrings! If you don't mind my asking, where did you get them? Thank you!
“I think he likes me, he keeps going like this…at me” conceited much? It’s his job, girl. Get over yourself
pretty sure shes joking. calm down
@@webguy943 she wasn’t , you can tell 🙄🙄
Thank You Happy Halloween !!!!!!
I went years ago and some lines were 2 hours+ the live shows were good too
The way I see it…just don’t go if you are someone that hates crowds and long lines because you will get both at HHN’s.
I went to this event on October 8 and yes that lines were extremely long and very long. This was the first time I ever been lol
My bladder isnt good enough for those waits. I'm a introvert anyway so I'm not missing out on the HHN. Great video tho. Thanks for reminding me why I dont do stuff like this anymore.
Wasn't busy at all this past Sunday 22nd. 60min was the longest time.
We are going to Universal next week. Not doing HHN. Are the lines better doing the day at the park?
Even with express pass, there was a 20-30 min wait for lines
Btw, your best bet is to go 11pm-2am when people are tired and leaving. Lines way down.
Even express pass has a wait. It’s quite sad.
Everyone that goes to halloween horror nights should do there research prior to going our first time going we alreafy knew fast passes was the way to go nothing more enjoyable then seeing the mean faces as we slide passed in the fast pass line 😂😂😂😂
Walking by as they stare at you rudely is so funny 😂
They told me the orange ticket saves your spot on line if someone in your party goes to the bathroom or to get food .
everyone knows if ur gonna do HHN u gotta get express. wouldnt even consider going unless i have it.
our break is usually an hour or 2 depending on the night!!
How dry does Casey get every time you say “oh myyyyyy lantaaaaa 💅”
You really just must bite the bullet and get express... especially if you don't get multiple times there.
There's a season pass for hhn?
Hi Kyle, Hi Casey, sheesh, busy night 😳 Lines are just a part of my experience when I'm there - hazard of coming down for vacation. When I do get down for HHN, definitely booking Express as early as possible 😂
As long as people keep paying big bucks to attend, these theme parks aren't really going to address the overcrowding issues...🙁
We went last week while we were down, way too crowded not fun at all. Wait times on everything including food! Not sure if I would go again!
I’m a scare actor there and to answer your question on how long our break is, we switch with the other cast every 45 minutes
Can you still buy express even have you have general admission ticket
Good video Kyle, as always. Hope you’re well mate!
Even with Fast Pass to the houses it took us till 2:00AM
WHEN PEOPLE SAY HELLO WHY DO YOU CUT IT OFF BEFORE A CONVERSATION IS MADE.
Not everyone wants to get filmed
Yeah, if you have FFP, you gotta rope drop every house. I've had Express twice and did maybe 4 houses.
I think this is the first time I didn’t hear him say “BEST.. DAY.. EVEERRRRRR” in all his videos. 🤣🤣
How much is it to upgrade to an express pass? Can you do it before you go or do you have to do it at the park?
@@KariHarrell were you able to see those 7 houses in one night? I know that stranger things and the last of us are definitely on their list.
