  • Inspired by Johnnie from Ultimate papermache.com on RUclips.
Here are my ingredients in the clay
    15 squares toilet paper
    3Tblsp. white vinegar
    1/2 c Elmer's Glue All
1/4 joint compound (not Dap brand)
1/2 c all purpose white flour
    1/2 c portland cement
mix vinegar, tissue and glue until tissue is completely disolved.
    stir in joint compound.
Add flour and cement stir then knead. Add more flour and cement as needed to make a soft but not sticky clay.
Keep the clay in a baggie as you work on your project.

You dont need vinegar, the chemical in the glue, joint compound and cement is more than enough to be toxic to bugs and you can use donlop wood glue. I use to add cement to my papermache clay over 6 years ago to form a putty to do fine details or thin pieces on a sculpture. I tried on little samples before doing this and tested them by soaking a couple of days in water they all held up well. I wont say that I discovered the idea as I'm sure unknown people have been doing this probably for other purposes for a long time now.👍🏼

    Just something you should know.
Vinegar neutralizes the hardening effect of Portland cement.
You should try a batch minus the vinegar it should harden better

  • @tinaknutsen
    @tinaknutsen 4 месяца назад

Do you use a mold release?
If you are interested in making your own molds out of cheap 100% silicone caulking I highly recommend watching
Geosubstainable… I tried it on a Harley Davidson rubber front door mat…( I paid too much for it, but it is cool ! ) don’t feel bad now because I made a concrete mat out of the mold for in front of our wood shop. I did have to piece together cardboard to fit it in to get how thick I wanted it. I also learned that from one of his videos.
So much cheaper than buying molds or mold kits to make molds. It is an older video. Works great.

Good morning. If you are adhering cement clay to terracotta you will want to add white glue or cement bonding agent to the cement and brush it on the terracotta pot.
You will also want to seal the pot inside so when you water your plant the moisture won't seep through and damage your art.

I like your work and many good ideas, but I am looking for a weather proof clay recipe. There is a recipe that Johnie has on her sight, that she tested outside and it has held up for at least one year now.
She used 2/3 cup of Portland cement mortar, not concrete.
1/2 cup of PVA Elmers Glue All..not school glue.
And 1/2 cup of wet toilet paper. She made medium size toad sculpture over a form and it worked great.
She sealed it with a clear enamal..spray…
She says it is all experimental, although so far her sculpture has held up in snow and rain. Look her up ..ULTIMATE PAPER MACHE…experimental outdoor paper mache clay.
I have not tried it yet, but plan to and May do a video on this as well. God Bless and keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing.

This is a nice water proof clay. Of course you will still want to seal it.
      Clay Recipe
      1/3c portland cement
      1/3 c Thinset Tile adhesive
      1/3 c white glue
Knead with more portland cement if you want a stiffer clay.
Also I am from Missouri and transplanted to Arizona. In the winter you get snow and ice. Your cement art will absorb water and then when it freezes it will crack. I also keep mine out of the hot hot direct sun.

    Experimente!

@@ACryin_Shame Hello Cryin Shame. Thank you for your question.
Cemental is not the same as portland cement. there is portland cement in cenental. Cenental as other materials along with the portland cement such as fine sand being the agate to give strength to the portland cement.
You probably could use cenental instead of portland cement. This will change the texture of the finished clay and it will set extremely fast so make small batches.
