I'd been collecting classical LP's since I was 10 years old, and had amassed up to 500+ records, reflecting hundreds of composers' works. And then I ultimately replaced them all with CD's in the following years (often the actual recordings/labels/artists from the LP, even) -- and then I divorced my wife & moved away, intending to return for all of my records and tapes... which she had since sold at a yard sale right after I left.
Well, this is one of those beloved and special lost recordings, and I believe it is the absolute best in quality & musicianship. I believe (on my original LP) it was on the Philips label, and also included the K242 Concerto for 2 pianos. These two play like conjoined twins, their phrasing well articulated, dovetailing perfectly.
So - THANK YOU for posting this! Made my day!

There are many musical masters who create profound, powerful music - but there is only one composer that I have ever heard who created PERFECT music, Flawless. Every note and nuance, superb. Amadeus was accurate in one regard, and perhaps only one. Salieri described Mozart's music as the voice of God. He was right.

Same. There are a lot of 'experts' in the classical music world who really don't seem to know what they're talking about. Honestly at this point I have a hard time taking anyone with a degree in composition or musicology seriously, because the truth is just because have studied scores does not make their aesthetic taste better than yours or mine.

The musical genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is without equal in history, as far as I am concerned. Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig Van Beethoven are his only serious rivals. There is something so uniquely alive about Mozart's music. It has all the freshness and beauty of a beautiful meadow in spring.

    • @adriatorras8077
      @adriatorras8077 7 лет назад

bayreuth79 Ok you sso right, but... Chopin is a so serious rival. For me, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin are the best. There is no discussion that Mozart is so much better than them, because he composed at earliest age, a lot of more works than them(counting the time he lived), he staied more time with music than others, so much dedication, so much memory, so less errors... I could keep saying more things that make him better. For exemple, Beethoven and Chopin, copied, over all Beethoven, various melodies of Wolfgang... Also Haydn, that lived and composed before him, copy some of his melodies and style in some pieces... Bach... Bach was a genius, but didn't take risks. Here music presents a similarity that reveals the coward soul of Bach. Then... Mozart Over. And in second place maybe there is Beethoven, for his deaf, and his warrior spirit, that won all his problems with his music... Chopin for creativity and constance win the third place. Schumann Liszt and others copied her style. So Bach is fourth. Others artists stay lower.

      @@rehaylock5199 Hello friend.
No worries, you may differ, and I'll not disagree. I like to think I also have my Beethoven days as well (the piano concerto no. 5 - Emperor, his symphonies and the sonatas more than justify your choice). Just as I have my Rimsky-Korsakov summer days, my Tchaikovsky winter afternoons, my Chopin nights rsrrsrs, my Haendel wee hours.... And eventually I'll go back to Mozart at daybreak.
In truth, EVERYONE knows (just as the aforementioned all did) that the REAL MASTER of ALL MELODIES was Herr Johann Sebastian :D and sooner or later, one fine morning we're all going to realize that HE had them all rsrsrsrsr
I also like to think the tinkly tinkly arpeggios were not really Mozart's choice as much as they were ornaments in demand in those Viennese days, and like everyone else in the Holy Roman Empire , Herr Mozart had to bow and play by the rules so as to be able to make a living.

@@rehaylock5199 Beethoven's music is full of arpeggios, "tinkly" or otherwise. A lot of his most famous tunes he borrowed from Mozart anyways. The slow movement melody of his Pathetique sonata, for example, was lifted right out of Mozart's c minor piano sonata k.457 second movement, for example and the Ode to Joy theme? One need look no further than Mozart's early sacred work Misericordias Domini, K. 222.

In my humble opinion, the musical buildup and spiral unwinding at 21:50 is one of the finest moments in all of Mozart for piquant tension and release. The climbing in the minor and falling in the major is thrilling. That said, I am not a fan of the rubato adopted on the falling here. I have always heard the descent in tempo, and it's more fun at a brisk tempo, whereas it loses its force (and point) when slowed for inspection. (Try comparing this same moment in other versions.) That said, probably the whole third movement is too slow. But otherwise, great playing, a crystalline performance.

Mozart talking with himself in his most important concertos is one of the most amazing things there is in Music.

+Giovanni Battista Vivaldi The point is that we shouldn't really care about how he looked like, he didn't need to be handsome with that kind of talent.

Yes, if Mozart actually looked that seductive (bedroom eyes) he would never have had time to write any music. He would have been sidetracked by amorous pursuits.

Noe Berengena I completely disagree with all due respect. Methods in detailing faces have improved drastically since those classic portraits of him were done live. Mozart was well known to be very handsome despite what the painters could capture.

Mozart is making me suddenly happy and laughing when I enter into my Weltschmerz consciousness. So we all experience some kind of ecstasy through him. But what is the origin of music ? From where did he get it ? There is no answer from our so great wizards. You have to dive into the Indian spirituality and there you get the answer. Just as the wireless does not produce its music all composers just transmit the music they hear inside. And inside they have the unique capacity to enter the world of music and report from it by writing what their intuition got hold of. Ask any Indian about the origin of music and he will smile and answer. What a question ? All of us were told from our spiritual gurus that music and art and science originate from our Divine Mother, called Mahashakti.
In this way Mozart had a rare opening to the world of happy making music.

Thank you for that comment. It brightens my day whenever someone writes something that reflects a comprehensive grasp of the aesthetic realm. I always turn to Mozart, especially the concertos to get back on track with my program to be the best person I can possibly be.
