The generations older than me (66) have a hard time accepting that one can have a great life without marriage. My sisters and I are all unmarried and my parents never understood us. They would bring up the subject when ever we were together, to the point that we would just leave at the first mention. The funny thing is they were married and miserable for over fifty years. Especially they couldn't understand why my sisters didn't want to marry and have children. Our mother as relentless on the subject. They wondered if I am gay, and I am, but I never said so because I knew I would never hear the end of it. Some parents just don't give up.
How can a parent do this to their own daughter. Sounds like Op has more depth and intelligence than the other family members that’s why they use her as the black sheep. It’s a threat to their toxic family dynamics

Point is, no matter how much everything is screwed up, English will always be several languages mixed into a fine paste and carefully smeared over some vague and arbitrary rules.
