Rover is wanderer, somebody wander it aimlessly, freely, not paying attention to what anybody will say or want, just freeing himself. The references to Billy Elliot and ballerina - first time the little kid Jongin ( Kai) saw on TV the film Billy Elliot, he was mesmerized and said to his father he wanted to do THAT (ballet dancing).Next day his father brought him to a ballet studio to study ballet. They lived in the country, so his mom has to move with little Kai and his sisters to Seoul where he auditioned for SM who made the Kpop idols and all were surprised how talented the kid was but he was very underage and they told his parents to bring him in -23 yrs. Father stayed back to earn money and support the family and Kai to study in Seoul school of arts - dance/music. Then he trained with SM, was selected for the legendary now group EXO now in Guiness with the most first big prizes and etc etc. The Catch me if you can ref - is the fake identity - where he makes fake IDs and wears woman scarf on his head. So, yeah, it is lot going on in his video and he said it was all about HIM. He is introvert and very quiet shy guy in life, on stage is a beast, not in real life. In a way he is saying with this to throw all things that stop you in life, people hatred, rumors.. everything and be free like a ROVER.. wanderer.

Fun fact, the original song is sang by Bulgarian artist DARA and produced by Romanian producer Mounoir (who is in charge of those sick beats and also why the song has such strong balkanic influences), SM bought the rights and both artists are credited on KAI's new album
The song was originally by a Bulgarian singer called DARA but SM bought the rights and she helped Kai change the lyrics as well.
He made a great comeback so proud of him.
So before he became a trainee under sm his dream was to became a balorino , so in his childhood he watched the movie Billie Elliot and start doing ballet before dancing soo the album is about his journée in the industry since his childhood till now and what social media is doing this , his power in exo is teleportation and rover is someone who travel a lot so if you connect every thing rover , teleportation, fake identity (social media ) you will understand ....

Actually the inspiration for the music video is taken from Leo Caprios Catch me if you can movie. Where a 18 yr old guy just changes his identities and fools everybody.

Two movies also feature here classic British movie Billy Elliot that's why there is a ballet dancer which also you can relate to kai personally and Leonardo de caprio crime movie called Catch Me If You Can. Based on by notorious con man Frank Abagnale Jr., it featured Leonardo DiCaprio in the starring role and Tom Hanks as the FBI agent trying to track him down Kai playing the role of agent here
The concept for this song is that he's a spy under the codename Mr. Rover

I’m from the states & was wondering about the rover reference as well. 💜
Red Rover is a playground game where kids line up in two lines across from each other and they hold hands, making a solid line. One side will say, "Red rover red rover, send (name) right over" and the kid will run from their line and across to try to break through a part of the other line. If they break through, they pick someone to come back to their line. If they don't break through, they join the enemy line.
It reminds me of a game I used to play as a kid called "Red Rover". I thought the song was in reference to that 😅
