But did you know the original fight was meant to be VERY different! So today we're going to explain the ORIGINAL climax fight from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and the controversy surrounding it.

The concept art of the alternate final battle in Russia does look apocalyptic but the final battle in Rio Brazil was a better place being that the place is always hot and then the cold brought on by shimo to me makes more sense.

This could explain why we didn't see Behemoth in the final battle.
The decision to have the battle take place in Rio must've been made late in production and the crew probably didn't have enough time to write Behemoth into the fight.
I didn't read Godzilla Dominion, but isn't the battle with Amhluk located in the Amazon Rainforest?It so,this could explain that Behemoth simply moved to the Amazon
Normally the concept art is the stuff that is completed first, in pre-production, then the CGI done in post production, it's more likely that the fight in Russia was scraped before they even started filming
Behemoth isn't a fighter Titan, in the comics Godzilla had to intervene on Behemoth's behalf because he saw the rainforest healing from him.

Would’ve been the *_FOURTH_* time Moscow got wrecked in Godzilla media - the first was by Rodan in Destroy All Monsters, the second was by El Gusano Gigante in Godzilla: The Series and the third was during King Ghidorah’s mass awakening in King of the Monsters.

One of my only problems with the Rio fight was that Godzilla, Kong, Skar King, and Shimo didn't really fight each other 1v1, I would've liked an extended Godzilla vs Shimo or Kong vs Skar segment where another titan didn't get involved.

Honestly considering the final fight in GxK took place in Rio, I was half expecting Behemoth to walk up and be like *”WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE??!!”*

The only two things I still complain about is the fact that Skar King and Shimo were only in the movie for maybe 10-15 minutes tops. Even the final fight went by extremely fast. For all the hype and run up to that final fight with Godzilla getting super charged up, there really was no sense of they could destroy everything during that fight. Skar King basically got his ass whipped the entire time, and Godzilla and Shimo just looked like they were hugging it out every time they interacted. Stunning visuals, but there was zero anxiety in the lead up or during the final battle.

Actually, in Russia the normal temperature is now warm and hot in summer and cold in winter, like all normal countries
Of course, but in Rio it literally never snows, which makes it far more of a contrast when it actually snows due to Shimo.

Ngl, I prefer Rio because of the buildings being taller so they fit in more with the Kaiju, and having the titans be able to smash through the buildings is more enjoyable then having them step over it.

To be very honest the Russia battle would have been So FREAKING awesome like rio was a great place for the final fight and I do find every theory very interesting and well written

Honestly I wish Rio was covered in an apocalyptic blizzard kinda like how ghidora basically caused a hurricane. Woulda been pretty lore accurate n made for higher stakes. Plus it’d make shimo see way more powerful n as big a threat as ghidorah was.Also I notice no one talks abt how Shimo’s roar sounds jus like the winds of a blizzard
It’s worth pointing out that concept art of something existing doesn’t necessarily mean it was ever the actual “plan”. Often concept art is made of crazy or random ideas without the expectation of them ever being in the final product. They may very well have just picked a random city for this concept art because the actual location hadn’t been decided yet.
Concept Shimo has a Theropod like posture when standing on two legs, just like Godzilla, then again shimo originally was supposed to look Godzilla like but the Feline/Canine build is nice too.
The red apocolyptic vibe should be saved for a showdown with destroyah. And i feel as homage to the og godzilla they should set it in tokyo. Im not sure but i dont think godzilla has been there in the mv so far or maybe im forgetting something. But the next fight should be in either australia, india/middle east or britain.

Really it's almost as if that's the entire title of the video 🤯
I did think Brazil was pretty random.
Well it really was random even in universe. Nobody even knew that hollow earth tunnel existed and the titans just went through there incidentally. It could feasibly have been any other portal.
That final battle set piece looks like something that the director of 2014 or even Godzilla KOTM would have imagined. We should get a What If directors cut (basically the Snyder Cut of the MonsterVerse) where the tone takes itself more seriously, is darker, more brutal and even making Skar King a threat for once (even this time beating Kong one round without needing Shimo).
So it’s basically just another normal day in Russia.
(Russia is basically Europe’s Ohio)

Would've been better in Moscow, the allegory and references are spot on, the environment contrasts beautifully with the more tropical and hot locals of the rest of the film, and it would've kept the film more relevant to future generations for more reasons than being a good kaiju film.
Not really, would any movie have been better in the 80s and 90s if they where set in Iraq?
@@TheLastSane1 depends on the film, I mean there's plenty of films that take place in Iraq during the war on terror during the 2000's. While none of them are amazingly good, there's plenty of films that take place during the Pandemic. The better films that reflect or allegory real world events remain relevant because they reflect the times they were made.
A great example of this is the Infection film The Sadness. It's a Pandemic Era film and the way the government in the film is portrayed mishandling the viral outbreak that creates the Infected, and misleading the public about the severity of the situation, perfectly mimics the way some countries handled the IRL Covid pandemic. Especially the way the Pandemic was handled under the Trump administration here in the US, with the President in the film literally mimicking Trump's claims that the virus is no worse than the common cold and at worst the Flu, despite thousands dying from the disease.
I think it would have been awesome to see Moscow get wrecked. Seems like a rare thing to see. But, Rio was still a blast. Love this movie.

Good question. I think its way too soon for destroyah, they basically did mecha king ghidorah with mechagodzilla so maybe a new made up mech titan or space godzilla.

I, honestly, loved the fight in Rio, though I wish they could’ve made it longer. It’s still a cool concept with Moscow being leveled by all the Titan action, in spite of the world just going the way it’s going right now.
They had to save time for that dumb anti gravity thing.

Wow. That's a pretty solid read. And way outside the usual ambit of any American kaiju film.
Moscow has some pretty cool skyscrapers (cooler than New York's, but only just. Mercury City Tower looks nice, and is of the same colour as Skar King's fur, which is orange. Vanderbuilt tower is the coolest in NYC) and older and taller buildings. In early February 2022, according to UN, three most thriving megapolises are : Singapore as number 1, Toronto as number 2, and Moscow is the third. However, I think if they wanted to pick Russia, I think that Saint Petersbourg might have been a good choice as well, since it's right on a Baltic sea, has some of the most beautiful architecture in all of Europe in my opinion, and has the tallest skyscraper in Europe.

I actually wouldn't mind Mothra join the final Rio, and Skar King had Camazotz under his control too that be a sick 3WAY FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!. Godzilla vs. Shimo, and Kong vs. Skar King (while interchanging foes), and Mothra fighting off Camazotz would been sick as F--K, but costs, and Mothra being a last minute addition I can understand why not. But have Mothra and Kong cover each others back Kong breifly Grabs Camazotz off Mothra, and Mothra scratches Shimo head to stop her freezing Kong.
Plus their actual battles that happen in nature reptiles like Komodos, and Gators fight within the species, Apes do the same for domain, and Moths and Bats have this evolutionary predator/deception flight so this battle would been awesome.
Skar King looks like a wild man in those images.
Personally it doesn't matter to me where the fight is aslong as the fight is good and serves as a fun exciting action climax of the film

Also Godzilla back then was not strong or big enough to take on shimo back then due to her massive size and power . Also fun little fact they confirmed she was an alpha before scar king got that crystal to control her .which really makes me think how he’d do it because she’s literally confirmed to be the largest and most powerful titan currently .I want to see how he got because I know there was an massive fight to get the crystal and it’s thought that the crystal scar king used is one of shimo dorsal crystals 🤔

you know dangerville i think it would have been better if the final battle was in moscow. why? think about it, godzilla originally was a metaphor for war, wouldnt that be so metaphoric if the war of the titans happened in moscow? with all of the things going on there, it would have been a more impactful message. but then again, things like that can easily be misinterpreted. but then again, the controversy could have also helped its box office

I really would have preferred the concept art’s fight. I get why they didn’t… but I would have liked that vibe to be kept. Rio’s fight was too light, too… not all that impactful. I mean, I _never_ felt like anybody was in danger, like I did in KOTM or GvK.
I don't care about the setting. My gripe is how underwhelming the final battle was as it didn't showcase Skar being any where near the threat he was hyped up to be due to his over reliance on Shimo and how quickly said battle was over. Godzilla couldn't have spent all that time evolving just to deal with those two.
The battle in Moscow looks sick, and the battle in Rio is non-impactful and the climate contrast is cool. So, for me…

I would really like to see Moscow or Russia in general properly featured in a kaiju film instead of just little hints.
I don't know about other people in this day and age, but I prefer going to movies to escape the downpour of negativity that we get from media regarding the world and its problems. Abstract or general issues like pollution, aggressive capitalism, or trauma and survivor's guilt are fine. But when there's a war going on, the last thing I want is for my method of escape to become a political platform and potentially add to the issues.
I still think Las Vegas would have been a cool choice for the final fight.
I prefer Rio over Russia cause I dont know Russia seems like a dime a dozen fight environment in movies in my opinion. While also come on how many Kaiju fights in movies do you know that happen in Rio, Brazil?
Also, shimo is pure ice the very ground freezes when she walks, so fire been all over wouldn't make sense.

It definitely didnt give us the destruction we want. The monsterverse seems afraid to show 1 monster just monstering a city while the military fights it for anything longer than a few seconds. They always cut away or come in right after the destruction acctually happens. That is one thing they keep getting wrong

People wouldn't have dared to call the movie "dumb fun" if the final battle unfolded in Russia. Scar King mistreatment of his subjects, Shimo killing Scar King, etc. Critics would have been singing its praises.

I prefer movies and entertainment in general to stay out of real world politics. One can hint at circumstances in broad general terms, but turning Skar King into a giant primate General Secretary is a bit too on the nose, to say nothing of staging the final fight in the former Soviet Union's backyard. If you're doing a documentary or the like, that's one thing. Hosting a very fictional kaiju battle to score political brownie points is another bowl of borscht altogether.
Throwing Godzilla into real world geopolitics makes for interesting stories. Toho did with The 1984 film and Minus one.

I do prefer the Rio fight for that contrast like Boston having a hurricane- and while Brazil doesn't have the same impact as an Ape Putin, they did have Bolsonaro until a few years ago, and I feel that's still close enough to the Trump Dragon of Godzilla King of the Monsters and the Xi Mecha of Godzilla vs Kong.

I get why it wasn't in Moscow, would have been a "good message" to send. However with how fragile egos are these days, better to appease people than challenge I guess...
Now with the Hollow Earth fight and it leading to Rio was damn awesome! I want to see a Hollow Earth portal nexus and show Godzilla, Kong and the baddies constantly being teleported all over the world! Like portals opening up everywhere and even in the middle of cities. Maybe have it split the iconic duo. Just show how powerless we are against nature and the titans. Have a humorous but with Big G coming out of a portal by himself, roaring in frustration and diving back into the portal.
I think they really should've kept the moscow fight, one: anything else we could've got would've been better than the pathetic 2 minute long rio fight, and 2: without it, scar king possibly representing Russian power isn't clear, and most people watching the movie would never make that connection. It would give a pretty meaningless movie a lot more depth and substance, especially considering it's an ongoing issue at the time of the movie's release. And I mean realistically, is Russia likely to even notice their city beign destroyed in a godzilla movie? Let alone actually care enough to say something about it. It's just a movie, and Russia finds a way to hate on everything America does anyways

How was the war of rio impactful? It was literally like 2 minutes and and it was so fast paced that we couldnt even see what happening, i would far prefer a fight in moscow

Moscow would have been better. Besides out of all the cities that have ever been attacked by kaiju, Moscow usually seems to be left out. I can't think of a single Kaiju movie where Moscow was a Kaiju battleground.

It released March 29th, it’s finished its run for the most part, doubt any IMAX screens are playing it anymore.
