Abby, don’t get discouraged. Our babies’ needs vary and change from week to week and they are only worried about their needs at this point. He knows where to go when he’s hungry and Matt might provide something to your son as his dad that is essential right now. As Griffin gets older, his needs will change and you will find out that he needs both of you and that is how it should be. Both of you parenting together. As a mom, I know you want to be everything to your children, but it’s ok if you aren’t. You would suffer burnout if you were everything. Your son loves both of you I’m sure. I’ve seen it so many times where the son bonds with dad early on but as he gets older, becomes a momma’s boy. 😊 You are the first woman he will ever love. Can’t beat that. 🥰

Yes that’s how God designed it. There’s a benefit in both a mother and father, naturally. Not two moms or two dads or even multiple like the world is teaching. God did not design family like that, and it will show in the future. Thats why God allows us to do what we choose, so we will see for ourselves that it’s doesn’t bare any good fruit. No matter how we try to deceive ourselves that it does.

Oh Abby, mama I am feeling so much for you right now. And you are not alone in feeling dejected after giving birth. I had had so many complications from labor that I ended up having to get an emergency c-section. I mention this because it amplified that feeling you described. I think it's normal to not feel sure of your place as a new mom, and to almost feel envious of anyone else who appears to bond with your new baby, even if it's Dad 😅
I'm sure everyone has said something to this affect but try not to be too hard on yourself, especially for feeling insecure and emotionally uprooted. You are already enough just as you are ❤

I have been there! I had to have surgery and go under anesthesia after only a couple months of being postpartum and breast-feeding. I was on heavy pain meds after and totally thought I would just pump and dump but I got a message on Instagram from my friend saying that I should not waste all that milk but save it in bags in the freezer and put a note with sharpie marker saying “topical only” because if for some reason you need to use it topically for some ear infections or eye infections or skin problems in the future milk baths are wonderful and breastmilk is magic💕

I’m so sorry you have to get surgery, Abby! There are some heavier pain meds that don’t transfer to breast milk. I think talking to lactation specialist after is still a nice idea but make sure you let your entire care team (surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurse, etc.) that you are still breastfeeding before they give you anything. They can make sure to only give you meds that are safe to take while breastfeeding. They do this for moms who have a C-section, so they should be able to do the same for a hernia repair. I hope you have a safe and speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹
Btw, Griffin just gets cuter and cuter! You and Matt make a great team!

Make sure your the doctor uses the daVinci robot because recovery is faster and you can go back to working out and lifting. With a mesh and regular hernia surgery you will have issues down the road when lifting and working out and the recovery time is much longer.

There is such shame around the postpartum body and I have no idea why! And there's always an assumption and a fear that just because a new mother's body will be different, it will be ugly, and that is so NOT TRUE. To all mamas: the changes you went through are a badge of honour: you gave that child life and you brought him or her into the world. You went through all of that because you love your child so much. As long as a new mother takes good care of herself, she will be beautiful, even if she looks different than before. It's no surprise that Abby is looking great.

I had a friend who rang me in absolute tears a month after having her first baby. She was a single mum at the time. I rushed over there and she told me her son never slept. She could never get him to settle. The only time he slept was when he was literally exhausted from crying and being awake for so long. But he'd wake up as soon as she was near. As soon as I picked him up he settled and went to sleep. I'm not going to lie She cried even harder. She felt like such a failure. But the reason he wouldn't settle was because every time she was near him he wanted to feed. He could literally smell her when she was in the room. So I would go over there and sit with him or take him out for a few hours so she could sleep. She eventually decided to stop breastfeeding which broke her heart but she didn't have a Matt. Just try to know you're doing a great job being able to feed your child from your body and that Matt can help him sleep. Xx

I definitely felt this way too! My first would scream if I was holding him & not nursing but dad would hold him & he’d be out. My second isn’t like that at all, he’s def more of a mamas boy (even more than the first) super clingy & im actually able to put him to sleep without nursing lol hang in there mama! There’s still hope 😂🤍🤍

Looks like Matt is suffocating the baby by having his hand against baby's mouth with the pacifier sounds like baby has hiccups and can't breath shouldn't hold him like that with pacifier forced to stay in baby's mouth.

You got this Abby!! I went to physical therapy four months postpartum for diastasis recti and my abbs came back together full strength! Also, I totally get the dad soothing thing. My girl was also so calm for her dad when she was a baby and now that she’s two, dad is the only that she’ll let brush her teeth and trim her nails 😒 she’ll freak out if I try to do it 😭

Diastasis my Dr said don't worry about until I'd stopped breastfeeding coz the hormones can stop it from healing together....so after a year of feeding, and then finishing feeding, it did heal on it's own.

I've had diastisis recti since I got pregnant and I didn't know that's what that was until I did some intensive research and checked for it. Unfortunately I've been living with it for 13 years and have to wait even longer to eventually get surgery. It worries me when I do workouts bc it could cause hernias and all kinds of other issues. I'm glad that your getting your hernias and diastisis taken care of. I'll be praying for your recovery!

As soon as I saw it I was like “yup def an umbilical hernia”. I hope all goes well! My dad just had surgery for 2 hernias recently which were caused by complications after having his colon cancer surgery to remove the affected area and surrounding lymph nodes. He’s doing great and I know you will too!

      What is a umbilical hernia?

    • @brittanylockwood6085
      @brittanylockwood6085 Год назад

It’s basically part of the intestine coming through the abdominal muscles at your “belly button” area or umbilicus. You usually need a surgical repair if it is growing or becomes significantly bothersome. But she could get it from trauma during her delivery.

Matt, do you even own a shirt?? Why the constant need to post yall's videos without taking 10 seconds to put on a simple t-shirt? I'm from the south, where we're taught that men should have a shirt on around women unless we're at the pool, beach, etc. It's just good manners. When you post, you're coming into our homes. Please be respectful. Is Abby going to start walking around in her underwear? 😳
I've been subbed to you for ages, and thought that eventually you'd figure it out on your own, but....

    Question for Abby:
How did you find motivation to workout postpartum/do you have any advice to get back into the gym after a baby? I am 6 months postpartum and I’ve tried to get the motivation, but I am just struggling so bad. My entire body hurts all day every day and I used to love working out so much, but I just can’t get the motivation. Idk if it’s lack of sleep or what but I just constantly feel exhausted and lazy.

Start small. Short walk in the neighbourhood, try an online free class (RUclips has heaps!) Of like stretching / yoga / Pilates type things. Body weight only. Join a gym and have a personal trainer help. Don't forget to give yourself grace, having a child is a big change.

I was the same I would say dont feel like everyone "bounces" back in 6wks its good that abby feels she wants to workout but dont let SM pressure into feeling insecure. The thing is with influencers like this family the dad is around to help out alot more most dads are back at work and the mums doing everything all day thats tiring give your body time to recover x

My kids are older now 15, 13 and 11 and what you are feeling is completely normal. I do remember going through that as well. You are doing a great job and your baby loves you ❤️ also you look amazing girl! Wow! Happy you are taking care of yourself 💞

With your abs being separated if you plan to have more kids from what my wife had been told they will separate again. So you may look into that before so you don't have to get surgery for that multiple times.

AVOID mesh if at all possible.
That stuff has caused more problems than not.
I had an Inguinal Hernia- L lower abdomen.
You literally must heal from the inside. I took it seriously (I’m also a trained Advanced level (all) Pilates Instructor and Gyrotonic/Gyrokinesis )
Especially, if you’re going to get pregnant again.

My son was always calmed by his daddy in the early months because I was way stressed and had little sleep. Now at 18 months old, my son only wants me. Kids go through phases and you will have your time. Trust me. Lol. I noticed the blanket on his crib during the nap and I relate to the struggle of making the room dark enough! I have found blackout shades and blackout curtains helps babies sleep better and longer! 💕

No it’s completely normal to have the dad and the baby bond sometimes even more than the mother and the baby to because usually the baby is going to be connected to the Dad🏋🏻‍♂️ for the diapers sometimes and for the milk feeding bottlefeeding and my dad was always the one that was a baby whisperer because he helped me fall asleep just by rocking me and telling me to be quiet calmly whenever I was a baby so I definitely loved him for that

I have the exact same hernia in the exact same spot and a very similar story (exact in fact) during my 1st pregnancy is when it grew etc etc. Long story short after meeting with a number of surgeons I was told not to have it repaired until I was finished having children because it would burst open during second or third pregnancies. If you plan on being pregnant again I would hold off until you are finished having children and then have it repaired. Mention this to your surgeon before going through with it. If you have it fixed now it will only get even worse next time you're pregnant. My hernia gets huge when pregnant but doesn't bother me as much not pregnant, I'm currently pregnant with my last baby and will be getting it fixed afterwards. Good luck!
