Assalamualaikum. I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THIS FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS NOW. My family are are born Muslims, but me wearing a hijab makes me look "Older, fatter and unwelcoming. Under qualified for hiring. Men will not find you attractive enough to ask you out or marriage". these are just a few of the things my family have said to me. Alhamdulillah I am still wearing it, and while the temptations are coming my way, i pray that Allah keeps making me stronger to withstand them. I love my family, but right now in my life, if anyone of them is too uncomfortable to be near me, or be in public with me, it is their problem, not mind.

Comments from your family brought smile to my face (I don't get angry at ignorant people). You should take them shopping to "help" you choose something slimming ;) Have they seen modest fashion these days? Take them there or online shopping :) About the hiring: As we all perfectly know Rizq with ALLAH which means if I don't get the job it's not meant for me to have ;) I wear a hijab and let me tell you in a work place dominated by non Muslims I got hired right away and they seemed to love me (I also pray at work and very obvious about me being practicing Muslim). Be proud of who you are. Always smile. Everything will fall in place InshaALLAH. All the love to you my sister in Islam. Hang in there it gets better :*

@@kaybia3795 Sister How is it going?
The one who likes you because of your body, will not stay with you after few years if your beauty changes and infact as we age it will. Staying real with the way you look , will clear all the wrong people who don't deserve you out of the way. The one who you inspires you to abandon your Hijab, will not stay with you when you enter your grave.
Not agreeing with ALLAH's rulings is like Saying i don't wanna put petrol inside of the cars tank but instead i wanna put it in the battery. Your car will not operate if you put the acid in the tank and petrol in the battery. correct? So not doing what ALLAH ordered is the same. ALLAH knows what's better for you and doesn't look at the body but instead looks what's inside the heart. So put ALLAH and his orders first sister. May ALLAH give your the power to withstand this. This is so relatable. I remember when i was 16 year old and desperately wanted wear a hijab and abaya but my parents were like "you are too young for it" "do it when you mean it don't wear it bcz your friend does " etc etc. Well i was actually influenced by my friend lol. Now I'm doing it for Allah Alhumdolilah. So back then my cousins would comment on me like "why did you wrap a towel on your head" blah blah and now those same cousins are prasing my other cousin who just started to wear hijab.

My mother was a little disappointed but was not shocked at all as anyone that knew me personally already knew of my leaning towards Islam at an early age even though I grew up in a Christian family. My Christian parents and extended family are now my best supporters and are the first to proudly share all of the changes I have made in my life. I still run into people from time to time that remember me from my bar days. LOL The look on their faces is priceless.

As a teenager, sometimes you just want to be with your friends, but as soon as you change towards Islam. Indeed your used-to-be good friends will go and never come back. Yes, you will feel sad and lonely, but never lose hope and change your faith because of that. It's okey to just have Allah and Quran as your best buddy. Let Allah alone be your decent listener, influencer, adviser, and planner because no one will ever be able to keep track of your life. As Allah will never neglect you even in seconds.

Yes, it hurts very much, if your parents doesn't want you to wear hijab or a beard... But I think they aren't against it in their hearts, they are just against it because they have fear, that their children will not be successfull in this word. They don't think about it, that a muslim is successfull if you practice islam and so on...I think when they are alive they are against it, but when they die they will be happy that their children are good muslims. It's my opinion. But of course all parents are different.

    • @Yous0147

+Dina Chan That's basically it. It's usually a more convoluted case, especially so because everyone today has gotten a negative view of people practicing Islam (or religion in general) passionately and sincerely. It's easy to fall under the idea that too much zeal and enthusiasm can blind you from the true deen and give malicious people the ability to control you through your good intentions. That's the biggest fear of a muslim fatherand mother, that the greatest thing in this world, your Islam, leads you to destruction by e.g. suicide bombing. It's the same concerns I've had to tackle, and the best way to do so is as this video states to be pacient, appreciative and understanding albeit firm in your belief as well as aware of anything that might use your good intentions wrongly. I've learned to appreciate my parents apprehensiveness, first of al because they aren't sarcastic nor hurtful about the way they show their concern (which isn't the case for everyone sadly), but secondly and most importantly because they give me a check and make me question everything I do. Is this for Allah swt? Am I doing this because a Sheikh said so? What makes sense and what doesn't? With the help of what I've learned from mister Nouman as well as other Islamic speakers, what does the holy Quran ACTUALLY say about things compared to the general understanding muslims have? My parents good-hearted criticisms lead me further through the path more safely, and although they and I make mistakes, we ask forgiveness from Allah swt for whatever we may be wrong in doing ourselves.

Your words are very realistic and 100% true! We Muslims are most of the times hostile to each other . The words of Muslims are even worse than the words of non-Muslims on the enthusiastic souls seeking to advance !! I hope we will stop making fun of anyone who is better than us, and that on the contrary we learn from him.
What really hurts me is the attack of some girls who are not able wear hijab on hijabis with words such as the hijab is not obligatory!!

Alhamdulillah , now my parents have slowly accepting me with my changes. Anger makes it worse and worse even it drives you away from your own siblings and friends. In fact ,my sister started judging islam by my anger and toughness and went away from the deen more n more.Later, Allah tala made me changed my behaviour to that of softness and I started giving explanations, Alhamdulillah my younger sister has started observing salah, she is trying to know more and more about islam so much so that she is reading quran with translation and she comes asks me about certain ayah, Alhamdulillah .there is no ego games anymore.subhan Allah. If we start taking up things in a soft manner , things change. Rasoolullah swas was also merciful. That's how we can make positive difference.

Very true, in my case my mother is not very religious she don't pray Salah but she did not argue or try to prevent me from being religious instead she supported me more than my father who is more religious than her, in past my father encouraged me to do Perdah according to the Shariah and because of him I started to do Perdah from all of my Non-Mehrems and I like that very much but now he is changed, now he try to convince me to change myself for Duniyah😢I wish for my father to be Strong in Deen like he was used to in the past
