    GATE 2004 for practice
    Consider the following relation schema pertaining to a students database:
    Student (rollno, name, address)
    Enroll (rollno, courseno, coursename)
    where the primary keys are shown underlined. The number of tuples in the Student and Enroll tables are 120 and 8 respectively. What are the maximum and minimum number of tuples that can be present in (Student * Enroll), where '*' denotes natural join ?
    A
    8, 8
    B
    120, 8
    C
    960, 8
    D
    960, 120

      Sir, you said cross product is necessary in natural join but I hear cross product is necessary in cartesian join. Plzz reply

    • @AmneetKaur_
      @AmneetKaur_ Год назад +3

      To find max and min
      Join the table by using natural join
      120×9=960
      After joining both table the total tuple will be 960
      And the tuple that are matching the rollno it could be total 8 tuple.why so? Because the enroll has the 8 tuple so the automatically the value of total tuple will be get 8
      So the max=960
      Min=8
