When you have a big fish on the line, while the fish is not fighting press up and down on the R joy stick to drag the fish in faster. It saves a lot of time and effort.
ah! Rockworth also struggled to catch the legendary fish. haha, it got on my nerve too. but after completing survivalist 10, legendary fishes became nothing to me. there's an advanced reeling technique which i'm not sure if you're aware of mister. just push the rod down and lift up repeatedly while reeling in. it really works. you can also swing it sideways while doing that. and it makes the fish come near shore and the animation to trigger.

P.S........ I'm wondering how many times people have restarted this game from the beginning and playing it all over again. Perhaps I'm "weird", but I've done it 6 times now in the last 6 months. Start to finish. Trying it with different horses to make sure I like the one I like. (or perhaps I just need to find a life 🤣)
Hey Rockworth I have a complaint. I did a little trick to get calloway's revolver early, saved, but when I came back this morning it was nowhere to be seen. It's in the compendium, but not in my inventory. Why?

Go to your weapon locker and try equipping it.
