  • There is any reason why you should put your koi undercover or in a building throughout winter and this is one of them!!

Our winters here in southern Ontario Canada can be bitterly cold for months on end resulting in a very thick covering of ice on the pond.🥶 While some people do find ways to minimize the ice I prefer to err on the safe side and always winter my koi in an indoor pond. They stay safe, warm and I can enjoy them all year. 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻

Nice to see your koi settled in their winter residence. Why not put all those leaves in a compost bin to make an excellent mulch for your borders?🍁

I would normally say, not to move them, but as you do not have a bottom drain, I understand, mine have always been outside no heating and never had any problems.
What is the torii gate made of in the pond?

Did you watch the video? If so can you tell me how do I stop the leaves from getting in my pond?

If you say you wouldn’t move the fish how do others get them to shows?
If you watched the video you would hear me say there is no problem leaving them outside, I have for over 25 years!!

@@japanesegardenbristol7842, my comments where not criticism of what you do, as I put with no bottom drains, I understand the reason why you move them. I did watch the video thanks, and I liked it.

Thank you Tim, I do have a bottom drain but that is not going to make any difference to the leaves in the pond and causing problems unless you know something I don’t?
