Raashad took it for me, but Jin obviously had way more heart. I wll say though Jin is adding a little evolution to the mix. I guess from that factor Jin won. In the feels department though, Raashad took it 1 million percent.

Popping has been so focused on the pop and the foundation that the music got lost and it was literally about how many ways to hit, how hard you can hit and how many body parts can pop. No flow except a few, no footwork but the basics and no dancing but party dances that everyone does over and over, most do not go to the ground bc most do not practice on the ground just standing up hitting us mostly what I see now and the ground work I do see is very simple. There are poppers that do it lol or at least try to be a good dancer in their craft but most do not

Rashaad has a much deeper understanding of funk music and popping styles.
I see why they gave it to Jin though. I wouldn't say out-danced, but out performed.

the difference is based on the relationship with the music. rashaad should have took it because he showed different ways to work alongside the music. there's contrast, different texture, actual dancing, and energy. jin is good technically, but he was not working along with the music, he matched the musical beats and tempo, but it was just being on the beat and on time, which is the basic requirement. there's a difference between trying to bend the music to fit your moves, and actually working with the music to say something together.

@@sleepyhead6468 how is it salty? this may be a dance battle, but it's still a cultural thing, and if you win by not being true to the cultural essence, it's not the most authentic thing. and pointing that out is being salty? really?
how would you feel if your own cultural tradition is brought to the whole world, then people from outside of that culture comes and does it without essence, but gets all the praise?

I think if it’s a popping battle I should be basically about popping surrounded by other style into it.
play with the music but not necessarily at every second because if you go everywhere just because you want to show a lot you can also loose the people in your way and the music
the same thing when you talk or write to somebody if it’s a conversation with music it’s should be the same…
For me the best way it’s to understand the road in the music with the body it can be a simple road or a complexe one but the intention need to be the destination where you landed not necessary about how you start the middle it’s your freestyle…
you can take the same road than the rest of the people or try to creat yours but if you do that it’s more possible that a lot of people don’t understand so to make sure to don’t loose them it’s not just you and your différence…( creativity - variations…)
but also the way that you make them connected with a road that they know in order to have balance between you and the people or you can also be the guys who don’t care about the people and be so creative that only fiew people will understand and if those people are part of the judge jackpots lol

Rashaad was always one of my favorites, but the fact that he danced so poorly in this competition and made it to the semi finals is hysterical. Both rounds he did here are what I would expect from an OG that hasn't popped for 10 years. Just bang average popping.
I didn't like Jin here either. What a weird battle, but I agree with the decision.
The funniest part is that unknown poppers will throw down sick rounds or concepts and get almost ZERO applause or respect during their rounds, but someone will scream like at :21 for rashaad not doing anything at all and still feeling out the music.
Popping is almost unbearable to watch at this point outside of a few guys. Too many guys loving the smell of their own farts, not bringing anything fresh to the table yet winning rounds and contests like it's just expected, and you only get 1 or two good battles a contest now. Compare This semi final to slim boogie vs. nelson lmao. And don't say "but the music bro!"
