A point i forgot to mention in the video so ill pin it here in the comments:
I think it would be beneficial if Mini GT took the money that they are spending on exclusive models and events and put it towards improving their products. Events are a great way to connect with fans, but that seems to be their main focus lately. And the event models as a whole is a discussion for another video

Well I got my first MiniGT and it had one QC issue - the back wheel wouldn't roll. Seeing as screws were used to hold the model together, I took it apart to look for the problem. It was the wheel arch, it hadn't molded right and there was a line of crap metal along the edge stopping the wheel from rolling. Fortunately I build model kits as another hobby and I have a set of diamond files. After some filing, I managed to remove the crap and the wheel was able to roll.

The CEO said publicly that last year he threw half a million dollars worth of miniatures into the trash because of quality control. In addition to working under pressure, they are unable to deliver certain models with specific dates on time. I hope they can overcome this problem and don't forget that you can ask for a refund on these faulty models.

    • @Booster_Diecast
      @Booster_Diecast  5 месяцев назад +6

Yeah throwing that many models in the bin right off the assembly line is a huge problem as well, but it seems that they're being more lenient and letting more and more bad models slip into the market. And it also feels bad to return bad models since it's also not the sellers fault

I watched one interview with the CEO and we're screwed. The CEO said if you want a higher detailed model car, there will be a bigger margin of error. He then said everyone has QC issues including Ferrari. Well let me say this - if I dropped a ton of money on a brand new Ferrari, it had better be 100% perfect. If there is a single scratch on the leather seat, it's going back to the dealer.

That was a good video, mate! I've been following Mini GT since the very beginning, but only this year I started collecting; I've only got 3 cars so far (a 4th one is on the way) so I can't say I have a large sample quantity, but I do have a few points to make. Firstly, I should say I'm rather lucky that my cars are 98% issue free, so much that I'm genuinely impressed. However, my MAJOR gripe is the wheels : on 2 of my 3 cars, they're wobbly, one of them being much worse than the other. It doesn't detract from the model when stationary but when rolling, it's really irritating. The other issue is the axle length; sometimes it's so extra wide (almost 1mm), more than it should be, that it makes the car slide side-to-side, and that is equally frustrating. Also, on my Alpina, the rear exhaust piece had not been glued properly and was loose, which I had to glue back on myself. Other than that though, I don't think I have many complaints, I am enjoying buying Mini GTs (they remind me of Matchbox for some reason) and I just hope they don't sacrifice quality in favour of churning out more models.

Mini GT has been quite popular lately in Indonesia. Not because of the new good casting or other good things. But there was one customer who experienced something surprising from the Mini GT service team. He bought a Mini GT R34 Top Secret factory seal, but after opening it was very surprising that one right stop lamp was missing, not loose. After he reported it through customer service, the application was rejected because the product was purchased through a distributor, then when reported to the distributor, they rejected it on the grounds that it had been opened. This moment makes me afraid to buy the latest Mini GT...

i got the Ford Gt le mans from mini gt, the car is great on its own, but yeah some quality issues can be noticed, for example the front wheels not rolling sometimes, and the worst that happened not so long ago, the spoiler broke down after doing the slightest movement with the car, it didn't even fall to the ground or hit anything hard, i tried using glue to fix it but it didn't work, so I'll probably just make some sort of custom with it without the rear spoiler, or maybe make one on my own but made of aluminum in order to give the car its original look with the rear spoiler, i am fine with the windows being plastic and the side mirrors being made of rubber, but they need to make the spoilers with metal, don't know if that's possible but it could fix the damn issue of the fragile plastic, or at least use a more dense material.

It may be possible to fix some of these issues. The scuffing on the rear window could be fixed by using some Tamiya polishing compound. For the decals that didn't lay down flat - maybe a liberal application of decal softening liquid might help.
That said, we shouldn't have to be doing such things. Yes, I've experienced some QC issues with Mini GT myself. Headlights not being fully flush on the McLaren F1s is one that I got repeatedly. You are absolutely right to comment on Mini GT QC. We certainly don't want them to go down the M2 Machines route. While Mini GT is currently no where near that disaster, it doesn't take much to erode customer confidence in a brand.

anyways thank you for making this video, I know you said that some MiniGT collectors would get fired up and I'm a MiniGT collector myself and I thoroughly enjoyed your video, thank you SOOO MUCH for bringing these issues to light, the funny thing is, those collectors are the ones who should BENEFIT from this video as you're telling MiniGT to make better models lol... here I go again yap mode XD

    Hi Booster!
I've been subscribed to your channel for several months now, and I just wanted to give you props for speaking your mind and sharing your experiences, however unfortunate.
Because of your videos and a few other die-cast channels, I was inspired to start a collection of my own. So far, I have 4 Mini GT models, 1 PosterCars model, 1 Hot Wheels model and 1 OPO model.
On the topic of Mini GT, I have a Giallo Orion Lamborghini Aventador SVJ [no. 563]. It looks phenomenal but has a misaligned rear right wheel, so it clickety-clacks when rolling forward and can't roll backwards so well.
It doesn't look too bad visually and I don't typically roll my Mini GTs like I would do with Hot Wheels, but the inability to roll does still bug me a lot. I'm contemplating taking the car apart to fix it, but I don't want to risk causing further damage.
I also have a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ [no. 409] and it came with a loose rear fin [the piece that goes from the back of the roof to just above the active aero, which I painstakingly glued back together. It looks perfect now.
I was considering placing the upcoming 3 models on pre-order:
    - Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato Bianco Asopo [no. 763]
    - Lamborghini Revuelto Blu Eleos [no. 748]
    - Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 Blu Aegir [no. 784]
Though after seeing this gradual yet quick decline in QC over the last few months, I'm now in two minds.
    What would you recommend?
I really would like to have those cars but I would also like a second opinion before I crack open that wallet, you know?
Keep up the awesome work by the way! :)
    - ShinnyShin

Hey I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and im glad youve decided to start a collection, it truly is a great hobby despite these discussions from time to time.
If you're looking at getting those Lambo models, I would still 100% get them. I hardly ever have QC issues with Mini GT Lamborghini. I know that doesn't mean anything as I only get one of each, but if you do get a bad sample, you can always try returning them to the retailer you bought them from

      @@Booster_Diecast Hey Booster!
Thanks so much for your input, I appreciate it man. And yes, it's becoming a passion that grows with each passing day. I don't know if my collection will ever be as huge as yours, but it's modest!
These discussions are indeed valuable because you never know with the Internet sometimes, there could be someone who's linked to Mini GT watching this and taking note. Anything's possible, and I would like to believe that this and other QC videos on RUclips could be their wake-up call.
I've seen quite a few videos where for example, there's a somewhat common problem with the quad exhaust pipes on the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo - they seem to roll off production with 2 pointing up and 2 pointing down. Luckily when I got mine, it didn't have these issues.
As for Lamborghini, this was only my 2nd model after the Oro Elios Lamborghini Aventador SVJ [no. 363] and that one has zero faults whatsoever. And the supplier is normally very good - I've ordered 5 total cars from them and aside from the 300+ with the slightly loose fin, this has been the only defective casting.
So taking your advice onboard, I'mma hit pre-order on those Lambos I told you about earlier. They will be from a different supplier however, because my usual doesn't have them as an option yet. It's payday this week so I'll treat myself!
You should really check them out if you haven't already, and I look forward to seeing your take on those beauties when they get released sometime in Q3 of this year.
And much like you, I really hope their QC is up to scratch by that time. Losing Mini GT as an option would be tragic! 😬😬

I have about 50 mini gts and haven't noticed many issues but then again I like to buy plain cars with few logos. I hope they don't go the route of Hot Wheels premium and digitize their logos. You ever put Hot Wheels premium under the microscope? The logos are blotchy. But that's why they're only $6. If I had to guess, the company is trying to save $$$. They've dished out a lot of cash to get the rights for these vehicles, they're pumping out a lot more models, so cutbacks needed to be made somewhere and it appears their QC department has shrunk.

Tarmac Works also have a lot of similar issues. Yeah they use a lot more small parts but for the money you spend, it is really frustrating. Add to that the little paint, decal, and wheel issues on them too. But of course when they can do everything right, I just love Tarmac Works.

And I don't even have a whole lot of Mini GT, so that would kinda explain my luck, but I definitely feel you on the quality control thing. My Mclaren F1 gtr has a huge dent/line on the side ruining the names of the drivers. It looked like someone took a knife and carved it.
R32 is chipped and another came with a spoiler only attached on one side and one taillight popping out.
Subaru imprezza’s base rattles around and wheels are super wonky
Acura arx came chipped and a bent skirt at the front
Honda s2000 also another scratch and has a loose/weak windscreen.
The only one without a single issue is a hyundai and that is my least fav car, just a surprise gift. How sad
They arent that cheap in my region, hitting 20usd on average and i have to say theres been way more QC issues than my tomicas and hotwheels… most frustrating is that you cant check for damages because its in a sealed box so no shop will let you return it and refund you.

Well said Mate! Mini GT has producing a lot of type of cars no one was making. Other than the repetitive gtr, mustang. But they have released new cars like the le man, 24 hrs daytona , mercedes s class, mercedes eqs. One of the bugatti chiron in black from Mini GT suffered a QC issue. one of the piece near that is mounted on the roof extends till the back break off due to small amount of force. At that point, I'm dissapointed! I knew Mini GT are fragile models but their products are made out of diecast and the price of their products aren't exactly the cheapest. They are producing a lot of models and innovation in 1/64 world. But as Mini GT is growing bigger and famous. Their quality seems to be dropping and they start to neglect their customer. Their chinese competitors Pop race and Xcartoys are way better than Mini GT in terms of quality, interior details and feel of the car. Currently I don't collect diecast anymore due to the fact from years of experience in collecting. The problems with the model itself is predictable, qc issues are inevitable. So there is no excitement in collecting this super detailed and realistic models even though I love cars.

    • @Booster_Diecast

Dang bro the comments are buzzing on this one. Feels like a bunch of eulogies 😂😭. Mine as well jump in. My very first one was the yellow c8 z06 that came with a damaged blister, mirror that was almost falling off, and paint bubbles on the side. Idk if that happened in transit but not a great first look (I lost it tho so idrc at this point). 20 models later I think I’ve been almost perfect, so if anyone reading this is on the fence I’d still say go for it, they’re great models.

Devo te contar administrador que todos esses Mini GT tem que ter uns cuidados, por exemplo não deixar a unha encostar na tinta e ter controle na temperatura da sua mão ao segurar na tinta pois isso causa umas bolhas

Inno is not always the best either. Sometimes i've seen QC issue with their product as well

@ivanbima5877 I mean, every brand has QC issues here and there. Sometimes we get unlucky but mini gt is scaring me lately lol

@@Booster_Diecast If you think current Mini GT quality is scary, I dunno what would you say about their past.
When i started collecting Mini GT about 4 years ago, QC problem also exist. Sometimes as worse as missing screw, missing light part and messy glue all in one example. Some of their early model also has higher stance, worst paint finnish and even melting wheels. Considering some of those issues aren't as worse, I would say they are on the right path

Thats why i dont buy lots of minit gt. my last minigt was the black gtr r35. kaido house has good production but i stop getting it as its only colour changes and milking all the r33, r34s so its repetitive. I went to get detailed versions like miniDREAM, carlounge(resin), u2, cm model is great too, lcd model is fine, microturbo etc

M2 is plagued with QC issues. I hope Mini GT doesn't go that route.

I think mini gt is a long way off from being as bad as M2, but I don't want them to even be comparable
