Venom Motorsports sent us two of their Chinese Harley Davidson clone motorcycles to us to test the quality and ride ability of a clone bike on the street. They both feature 250cc 5 speed engines, and come equipped with everything necessary to ride on the road legally in North Carolina (other than insurance!). So we assembled the Venom Ghost and the Venom Chopper, rode them around, and overall were very impressed by these little clones!

This channel hasn't been real since the their 2nd video. Sad they sold out immediately. But the technical ability isn't there, evidenced by so many past videos that duplicated what has been done MUCH BETTER years before. The 670cc dragster was laughable in its performance - but it linked directly to a sponsor. The manual may be cool because it has a wiring diagram for some bike made somewhere, sometime by somebody ... But it also says ”turn your winker on when swerving."
Don't take anything as fact. If it says .9 qts of oil, check it twice. It says to tighten ALL bolts and that is true. EVEN THE SPOKES! (Deflate tire first). If reliability is required, check that all the electrical wires are fully seated in the plastic connectors. I'll add more later.

I had fun watching this video. I was 70 this last November, and have been looking at these two bikes online. I like them both. I've had about 30 motorcycles over many years, including two Sportsters. I loved seeing you guys assembled by and riding, good friends and good times. I had a great friend from grade school, through high school and well after. We lived and breathed motorcycles and did a little racing in high school, and toured around Washington and Oregon. Lots of off road riding too. He passed away in 2011. But, I have all the memories of our adventures over many years.
I wish these bikes had kick starters as a backup. I love that the Ghost has a center stand, as they are great when doing maintenance. The seat on the red one doesn't look real passenger friendly. We moved to the big island of Hawaii in 2011, and either of these these should make good island bikes. I started riding off road at 10, and if one rides off road, then there WILL be wipeouts. Often. I've been lucky to never have a street accident. You guys seem like it would be fun to ride with you. Have fun and ride safe!

You get what you pay for, a lot of chineseium bikes are fairly weak on parts, but often its parts that can be braced to make stronger or parts that can be swapped out for better parts. A lot of chinese bikes often under go full transformations and look nothing like stock after a year or two. I had a keeway superlight 125 as my first bike, good bike, but the chinese bits were rubbish. Ended up getting a full upgrade on every chinese part that was going to break and turned it into a fairly decent off road cruiser. Chain was replaced with DID heavy duty, Sprockets were JT custom heavy, forks were swapped for 125cc forks off a dirt bike, rear suspension got swapped out because it started to rust to off road rear suspension on both shocks, tyres were ultra hard off road tyres so never had to worry about punctures and engine had all electrics, plugs, spark caps and Cables replaced with NGK race 125 stuff and the head was replaced with a suzuki head as the engine was a suzuki clone. Power went from 10hp to about 14hp, not much but more than enough for that bike... Took it up a mountain, off road on dirt trails and even went through a river on it lol.

We still have it, but it'd need new tires and a few other things. Also we could never find the right size battery back then in 1995. I'm sure now it's easier to find a custom size replacement for vintage bikes.

Hey John, what's your opinion on the Kawasaki Vulcan vs the Harley Sportster? I'm currently looking at buying a 2003 Vulcan 800 - It is a budget bike but looks almost like a Harley Fatboy - I was also considering a Harley Sportster but they are pretty pricey down here in Australia - about $8k for an early 2000s 883 & 1200's are $10k minimum no matter the age it mileage - The Vulcan is $3k with only 33,000 Klms on it looks almost new, as far as Metric HD Clone goes It looks & sounds pretty authentic for a Metric Cruiser - it kind of even reminds me of an old Indian Chief - Old age has finally caught up with me, I've been riding Sports bikes for about 2 decades & now would like something more sedate & comfortable - Any advice appreciated - Cheers Paul 🇦🇺👍
