  • Welcome back to my channel. In this video I will be showing you my trip experience on Singapore Airlines's A350 from Seattle to Singapore. It was a 16-hour 20 minutes flight. If you watch my previous video, I had the whole row of economy seats (3 seats) to myself despite the flight was quite full. However, on this flight, the passengers' loading was 99% for economy cabin. Cabin crew were so friendly, efficient and professional. Kudos to Miss Jocelyn Ser (if i'm not mistaken). SQ no longer provides menu card in economy class. Passengers can connect to WIFI and browse through the menu, inflight service and also SilverKris magazine. I actually hope they can also make the "inflight services or menu" available in the entertainment system. It would be convenient for those don't own a phone at that time or have problem to connect to the Wifi.
Onboard this flight we were served two times. Guess those who watched my previous vlogs i did mention about its meals. Not only me but also other reviewers complained about SIA's inflight meals. I have tried some other airlines like Starlux, Thai Airways, EVA recently, their meals are far different than what SIA offers currently. The new game changer Starlux's meal tray is a full set course with appetiser, fruit, cake, main course and also a bun. Sad to see what SQ offers. Their highlight "hot towel" were also gone. Previously, you could also find a bottle of cologne and mouthwash in the economy lavatory but it was no longer offered on the flight. Other airlines are bring back their flight service and products back to the track at this post-pandemic era. Using the reason of covid as a mean to cut cost is totally off the course.
I still have to admit that, SQ's cabin crew are the biggest asset to the company. Service, grooming and etc are always on point. Their professionalism is something that you may find it hard to see in some other airlines.
On the side note, it would be great if the 3rd meal service can be offered since it was a long flight and many passengers requested for instant noodles especially 3-4 hours prior to landing. Thanks for watching my video. Don't forget to subscribe to my channel and feel free to comment below.

Great video. I had flown the same route and 9V-SJE. I was left on 20th Dec to escape from a snowstorm. It was before the worst hit in Seattle of the ice storm. My route was 16 hrs 59 mins and was the longest flight. My old record of the longest flight was from Los Angeles to Doha on Qatar Airways in 2018. This flight only had two meals. SQ should have a menu for the meals and drinks. I didn't understand the crew on which meals to pick. I used my phone to save pictures of the menu during the flight.

I can relate this when you mentioned ice storm. I remember I was in San Francisco and heading to SEA on 24 Dec. I kept checking the news, hoping that I could successfully flew in to SEA and out of SEA on 27 Dec. Saw the news, many passengers were stranded at the airport at that time. Glad that you made it out on the 20th Dec. I agree on the menu. Even if they plan not to bring back the hardcopy's menu, at least make the menu available in the inflight screen like some other airlines. btw, thanks for dropping by.

Great video of the economy class seats. We got to experience the business class seats in June 2022 on our flight from Newark to Singapore (and did a video about it). Service was good but the seats are a little odd with a sideways foot cave. We are traveling back to the US from Phuket to Seattle on business class in April 2023, we'll see how it is going that way. Also, thanks for a little tour of SeaTac in Seattle.

Thanks for dropping by. I will check out your video about the EWR - SIN's J class route. I always wanted to experience that route but I haven't got the chance. I see many people complain about the foot cave, but I personally find it bearable by knowing the fact that I enjoy very wide seat of it. It's still small issue to me =D. SIN-SEA is way shorter (13 hours). Hope you have a great time onboard. If you are interested, you may check out my other trip reports such as Starlux Airlines. I will upload the Starlux A350 business class trip report tomorrow 8pm. (GMT+8). Enjoy your holiday in Phuket.

16 hrs flight, discounting the take off and landing preparation, will be left with approx 14 hours? If one is to be in the seat doing nothing, 3 meals mean one meal every 4 hours or so which will disturb a passenger's sleep which may not be appreciated. Even out of an aircraft on an ordinary day, how many meals will you eat in 14 hours? If I am SQ, I will leave the choice to an individual and offer snacks.

I am allowed 2 pieces 23kg each for check in
But for carryon they said 1 piece 7kg only 40x30x10cm only
    That’s super tiny
And I see other people loading into economy section with much bigger personal sized items and also loading carryon luggage overhead ??
    What did you carryon??

Thanks for your compliment. The cabin temperature was around 19 - 21. It was cool actually. I covered myself with its blanket. No worries despite there is no air vent because all SQ A350 are quite well-maintained and new. Also, you might hop on any of their 9V-SJ.. series of A350, which are the latest, newest A350. Throughout my flight, I never felt warm and tbh, I'm also on the warm side. Hope it helps.

Their non-stop service to/from New York at 18 hours also only has 2 full meal service. The first is served immediately after take off and the second about 8 hours into the flight, leaving passengers to starve the next 10 hours. I've flown the route 3 times in the past year and nothing has changed. I usually bring some food from the lounge to avoid starving on board.
Simply unacceptable from SQ but they don't seem to care.

    • @Dragflyer9669
      @Dragflyer9669  Год назад +3

Sad to hear about that. For New York - Singapore, they should really consider providing the third meal, perhaps 2 or 3 hours before landing. Guess it’s not just us but majority complain about the food, provided that they care, which they don’t I’m sure unless we are the VVIP or PPS club solitaire members. It’s still one of my favourites, hope to see they change or improve for good in the near future.

I flew Seattle to Singapore on SA on September 1st. I really enjoyed the flight but continued on to Bangkok and had to wait in the airport for 14.5 hours. I would have flown the return trip on October 31st but my brother died and I had to return home a week early to attend the funeral. Singapore Airline response to changing my ticket was to charge $1,650 (some bereavement policy). They had changed the time of my Bangkok to Singapore flight time by enough for me to qualify for a free change of the return flight times, but again, they refused. I bought a one way ticket on another airline. It’s very, very unlikely that I’ll ever fly Singapore airlines again!

We’ll be taking the A350 from SFO to Sing in October in Business Class. Flew business on SQ one other time, but it was on the 777 that flew through Hong Kong. That was a great experience and I hope the 350 matches it.
For economy, you might want to look at JAL and ANA. Their economy classes have 33 or 34 inches of pitch, depending on the flight. And they also have some planes with a 2-4-2 configuration.
I’m an old, tall guy…..6’2” tall and 67 years old, so I’ve given up on long haul economy flights. I’ve done Sing to SFO in PE and it was all right. PE on ANA is similar. But PE on JAL has a 2hopping 42” pitch that is very nice for us tall old farts.

    • @Dragflyer9669

Thanks for the info. I would love to give JAL and ANA a try if their fare is attractive. 33 or 34 seat pitch is definitely a blessing to passengers. Previously I flew TPE-JFK with EVA Air. The legroom was 33-34 as well and it was really comfortable. As for A350-900, you will be able to enjoy the same service on the SFO-SIN route as well. The same product. I bet A350 is a good one since air humidity onboard is better compared to B777. Thanks for dropping by.

Cost cutting starting to eat up SQ long haul in Economy sadly:
    - Amenity kit / pouches no longer handed out by default, only available on request or on the lavatories (I have quite a collection of those Economy class pouches from the good old days with SQ, quite handy to store stuff)
    - No more appetisers with the main meal :(
    - No more hot snack (3rd) service, EK & QR offers at least 2 hot meals + 1 hot snack service (warm pizza/sandwich) on their longest flights.
    - No more pre-meal drink and nuts service? (Is this a new cost cutting)? They may have gone a la MH now where the old pre-meal drink service is now just the FA going around with a tray of pre poured water & juice rather than a proper trolley service - I guess to cut costs so they can load less booze lol

Some 25 years ago when SIA came to Berlin via Zürich with their 747-400 there was a Business inside that deserved that name. This Business here looks cozy but it is to tight. Even here you don't have enough space. In the 747-400 you had tons of space. So where is the progress for the paying passenger ? Right. Nowhere. For the airline : much less fuel costs now ( A 350 2,5 litres jetfuel A per passenger at 100 km ) and much much more revenue due to much higher ticket prices. 1998 : 2000,- Deutsch Marks for a Business Ticket ( roughly 1100,- € today ). Welcome to the new aviation world.

Singapore Airline Economy class inflight food are generally not so good. Sorry. But the SERVICE are perfect and flawless by the cabin crews. The food is still a big problem. I flew Singapore - New York- New York -Singapore once before and pre-ordered/requested HALAL meals. It was a hit and miss for the food. One meal came out as burnt, probably over microwaved. But I was always treated well and feel very comfortable with the SIA cabin crews - they have a worldwide reputation for having First Class service, even in Economy Class. But the food, needs to be seriously improved upon.

I wish to see they serve the third meal too. I was really hungry too after the second meal service. But I'm not sure if it is do-able as third meal service definitely requires more space onboard / especially in the galley to store all stocks especially the food and drinks. Or they are confined by the crew rest time. Perhaps the others can help clarify on this issue.

Singapore Airline has been extremely poor with their meal services and the standards have gone straight down. It is not cheap to fly with this airline but the food service, especially on these ultra-long-haul flight is just terribly disappointing and I don't think there is anyway to defend the airline for this. Singapore Airline is a rich company, and Singapore is a rich country, but their offerings are way too cheap! NO offence but it is the truth.
