Wow, amazing shot of Carrie Fisher at 3:11. She was so young, but weren't we all? I was 14 when the original Star Wars came out. This is probably my favorite diorama I have seen bult and I have watched tons of them so far. I think because you explained it so well, and I feel like I could do it also. I know where to get plenty of cardboard and foam for free so I am definitely going to give this a try! Beautiful buildings!
Hey man, is there a reason to not use water based grout? I'm trying to find acrylic resin grout at my local hardware and can't see any ready made grout that says acrylic resin.
Water based grout needs to be mixed with water and will warp the cardboard, but if you made your base pieces not using cardboard or a water soluble material it should be ok, but I would worry that not having long chain polymers holding together a thin layer of what is essentially concrete might allow it to crack off? You could be the test for the rest of us? Maybe get a small sampl?
@@OilersWorkshop thanks man. I'm trying a cheapo multi purpose filler spread across and stippled with a brush and then I'll do the scenic glue trick of isopropyl alcohol then diluted mod podge to harden it. I'll see how that goes. Also using very porous xps foam so gives somewhat of a texture already.
Loved the calking tips
😄
It’s really fun for a snail like me to watch you work so fast lol
Oh lol, I do a lot of “pre planning” in my head so when I finally put my hands on material it goes fast

Really useful, I'm gonna do 3.75 diorama but I planned on using Wood to make a big structure.
Amazing! Wood will be even stronger 💪🏼
