I remember reading about Ernie Bewick (and Brian) in the Streetfighters book many years ago. I used to work with a bloke who was originally from up the north east and remember telling him about the book. He was in absolute awe of Ernie Bewick, said the guy was a gent but as tough as they come. Apparently he worked the door for him at one point, although he told me Ian freeman (MMA) fighter looked after his doors for him when he went down. He had nothing nice to say about Freeman though. Wayne's gone off the scene. Ernie still has a huge presence but low key as always and Brian Loughlin would still back Ernie into the gates of hell but from what I understand hasn't been well lately.

Ultimate respect for Mr Bewick fair as the days long and as patient and for a while i trained with Wayne and big Bri on occasion in Global gym in Grangetown Sunderland i ended up a fair old size training with Wayne he knew what he was doing i must admit

My grandad has been friends with Ernie from the 70s 80s and they were in the gym one day and Ernie asked him to hold the punch bag while he was hitting it and my grandad is just a normal built fella and Ernie punches were lifting him off the floor.

He fought billy Robinson (vivs best mate and hero in a gym in Newcastle, earnie went thro on his own, Viv was watching and was in a boxing ring and earnie done a number on him big style, but in the fight EB got caught in the jaw. He never seen the punch coming but EB still won easy. After fight viv walked out and Saif to EB are we still ok and mates and apologised. EB did not know why he was apologising and then he realised that viv had slyed him and it was him who punched him. He gave EB 500 quid and said he could not stand and watch billy Robinson get beat up like that as he was a sort of mentor to viv. That's 100% fact
No Ernie went through to a gym to fight big Billy Robson from Gateshead after they had a run in .in the blue monkey where Robson refused to pay entry into Ernie pub,and the place was really popular.so they had a scuffle. Then I believe Ernie actually drobe through wallsend I think.to fight Billy ....Ernie beat Billy but halfway through the fight Viv Slyed ernie. But ern assumed was Billy who caught him.....wasn't til after when Ernie won, that the owner of the gym went up to Ernie and apologise to him for Viv hitting him.....in turn Ernie pulled Viv and offered him same but Viv sh!t his pants and said he sees Billy as a father and didn't enjoy watching the pasting Ernie was giving him.....and I believe they shook hands .Ernie beat him in aba though...I think Brian will agree with most of this as there's a lot of versions but I'm sure this is on nose as told by so.someone I trust

Graham Potts was Ernie bewicks Right hand man with Brian loughlin,Graham Potts was a Right hard man my mate once told me there was about 50 scousers acting up in the Hylton castle arms,Graham got the call and went in by himself and literally flattened everyone of one of them there was bodies all over,a few witnessed it too,some bloke Graham Potts,Ernie Graham and Brian had Sunderland in good hands for 30 years never ever any trouble with them three running our town
