  • This is yacht Sceptre, a classic International 12 metre race yacht. She was originally launched in 1958 for the Americas Cup Series. It is an amazing honour to be asked some 66 years later to take her on a challenging passage from Portishead to Hamble.
All in all an extremely challenging but very enjoyable passage. Approximately 400 miles in just 48 hours! What a boat and what an experience!!!

Hi I saw her being launched at Campers Gosport as a boy of 10. Great watching her slip into the harbour.
Great boat . Hope it is restored to former glory. chris from Lee on the Solent

Poor old girl looks a bit tired but what an adventure to do a trip on her. I hope she's well cared for.

Apologies for being late on this. I remember seeing her sail in the Solent probably near sixty years ago as a small boy on my father’s C&N boat. It was as my father would say a ‘bit lumpy’ - force 7/8 and we passed astern of her and a gust promptly flattened us but soon recovered. We were on our way from Bembridge to the Hamble and to a much enjoyed hot meal.
Thank you for reminding me of good times.
