  • The devaluation of the Naira against the dollar has plunged Nigerians into a deep socio-economic crisis. The price of basic foodstuffs can double or even triple in the same day. While 98 million Nigerians were already living in extreme poverty in recent years, this figure could explode by 2024 if the crisis continues. For tens of millions of Nigerians, the reforms designed to attract foreign investors have, above all, caused the cost of living to soar.

Unfortunately, only the masses are forced to sacrifice. Govt. officials still maintain their current lifestyle.

As a Nigerian, I am so proud of the current Nigeria president for taking these bold economy steps. France does not provide subsidies for fuel or consumption , nor do European Union provide subsidies for Euro. Nigeria can not be providing subsidy for fuel. If you want to drive a car then pay the right price for your petrol. If you also want to drink french whisky, then pay the right price. Nigeria government should not be helping citizens pay for fuel or fund citizens who want to import goods from abroad to kill our local manufacturing companies. Nigeria government should not be paying part of school fees for citizens who prefer to study in Europe instead of studying in Nigeria. Therefore, the Nigeria government is doing so great. We need to promote our local industries instead of buying from Europe.

The current Govt is still paying fuel subsidies otherwise the pump price would be above 1000.

With the excess savings the Nigerian gov should invest in public transport like electric buses and affordable electric vehicle. This will create more jobs plus reduce air pollution in major cities.

Are you being sarcastic or are you seriously saying all that? Europe doesn't subsidize public infrastructure and systems?! Bro go look it up again because that is blatantly untrue. The IMF, EU and World Bank's goals are to ensure the continued dominance of the collective West. Currency devaluation and subsidy removal by rival/subservient Nations are what the IMF & those institutions do World wide. Meanwhile back in Europe and North America they subsidize power agriculture transportation and education sectors. Hence many European nations have "free education". How do you think that is being paid for? Open your eyes and see bro. What the West does is rules for thee but not for me.

Inflation is biting hard in Nigeria and the people elasticity limit is nearing it's end. However, majority remain hopeful and confident that President Bola Tinubu with his reforms is on the right path to reengineer the economy and enhance purchasing power of the people.
