I am glad I have found this channel. This game ground me down through completion at highest difficulty. Once final mission was over, it offered me the chance to keep playing. No, I was good, thanks
Gameplay in this game is great. The rest is aight. The card aspect is barely there at all since decks are so small that you will always use everything you want, even more than abilities in XCOM since that game has a lot of cooldowns. Comparing it to Slay the Spire doesn’t make a lot of sense because that’s a deck builder mixed with a rogue lite, meaning you might go 20 hours without being able to make a deck/strategy you want to make because of RNG. In Midnight Suns you will always have multiple chances to use every card in your deck.
This was an awesome review. It wasn't just shitting on a bad game, but thorougly explaining why its garbage. I can pass on a game due to bad mechanics or cringe writing as "not for me" but doing the heroes dirty just to prop up the writer's pet is a sin that I cannot forgive. And its very indicative of writing done to attract the mythical "modern audience". Dunking on Johnny and Hank is the same. Mean spirited and petty like them saying "your heroes were garbage. Ours are so much better!" Great video, Alex! Thanks so much for suffering through this shite for our entertainment.
Thanks, my man! And yes, it's "your heroes were garbage. Ours are so much better! but... we are still going to use your OG heroes to bait you into buying our game" Like The Ghost Rider says... (Johnny, not this token impostor) --> When you make deals with the devil... you end up with him.
You know what isn't wrong, though ? Using Depeche mode music - well except for your monetization I guess... Nice new intro too ! I don't care about superheroes or card games so this game didn't particularly disappoint me, but learning that Jake Solomon wants to make more dating sims instead of more tactics game feels like that time Michael Jordan tried to become a baseball player (boomer reference)
#datjordanreference By the way. I'm making ZERO money on any of my videos. (It's a long story part-technical issue part country-issue, but I'm not making a penny out of these videos).
@@YeOldEntertainment ah sorry I meant to said Dragon Age Origin, the Veilguard, as the third was called inquisition. The trailer for Veilguard seems to suggest that it would be -again- a game not for us. Watching it I was really sad to see were went in the video game industry. If you want to changed the univers of a game that much, just create a new IP. As was Happy to see with that review, I m not alone. (And you review of the OG, cheffe kiss btw) Also,as far as video game History goes, DAO2 was one of my worst deception. I wanted to see what happened with Morrigan and my character's child after ending the extension. What we add was, DAO2. Never fail that kind of betreyal after that until the end of Mass effect 3. Well that BIOWARE for you. Keep the good work YOE.
@@stephanebottet5846 Well there is a Dragon Age Origins review on the channel! It says "best game I've reviewed so far!" I think you mean the new fanfic mobile game that Bioware is working on, veilguard or some sh1t. If so, nah... not gonna waste my time with that one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The gameplay in combat was fun. There were things that were off like Captain America being an SJW, but I skipped most of the dialogue anyway.
I absolutely hated everything you had to do in the Abbey (besides petting your dog and Agatha's cat) and if I could JUST play the missions back to back to back, I'd have LOVED this.
@@YeOldEntertainment Absolutely agree. Not an all time great game, but a very good/fun one. As it stands, easily a 5 on it's best day. A major letdown. IDK how the MCU could be so dominant for a decade+ and have SO MANY terrible games in that time frame. Guardians, the Spiderman games and my favorite MUA3 being standouts, but most of it trash like this, Avengers, most of the actual MCU movie games.
Still, you gotta give it to Marvel. They have massive fandoms, great universes to work with, but they still manage to consistently release mediocre products.
It's clear you desperately want to make political videos, but are constrained to an audience that wants to hear about CRPGs, so you have to insert it to some degree into seemingly every video. I don't disagree with all your points, in fact I agree with many of them for both the gameplay and the politics within, but it's very off-putting that you cant even escape politics and the culture war in a video about a shitty Marvel Xcom-lite card battler. I will concede that this game does make it more difficult than most to refrain from commenting on modern audience tropes, but sometimes a man wants an escape from the eternal culture wars.
I'm not constrained by anything. I make the videos that I want to make, especially because I don't monetize my channel. If you have been following the channel you know that I only bring up these points in games that bring them up themselves. And I will ALWAYS do it because it pisses me off every time I see an agenda-driven subtext or premise as it happened in this game. You didn't hear anything culture war related in my Dragon Age video or in my Sovereign Syndicate video or in my five-in-one video, because these games don't have an agenda-driven subtext. But 100% of the times a game has these themes I WILL bring them up. Because I detest when other reviewers complete avoid mentioning this... Because then you go out and buy a game and BOOM there it is... the flag planted in the name of their tribe that you don't want to see but you didn't get warned about. Coming up next you will have videos on Skald, Knights of the old Republic and Beneath Oresa. There won't be any mention of any of these topics simply because none of these games are contaminated with any of this crap. (Maybe I will crap on the current state of Star Wars for a bit in KOTOR, but it won't be the focus of the video).
If it's inserted into the game then I view it as very relevant in a review. I mean, if you want to escape from the culture war, wouldn't you want to know whether a game you were considering to buy has just such inserts in it? I definitely want to know that in a review rather than buy the game and find out afterward.
I am glad I have found this channel. This game ground me down through completion at highest difficulty. Once final mission was over, it offered me the chance to keep playing. No, I was good, thanks
Yes, 100% pass on the end game.

Beneath Oresa.

buying the infinity engine and og fallout games was the best investment I ever made :P

These people pull down statues of great men. Of course theyd destroy our fictional heroes as well.
But like The Ghost Rider (the OG, not this token soy boy) says... Hell is coming...
Added to my playlist!! I'm eager to hear your opinion on this one 🔥🔥🔥
I can't wait for you to review Dragon Age Origin 3 XD

No Wand on Wand-a
Wanda Wasn't having it, no...
Wow. I am hearing such mixed reviews, praise and criticisms for this game.
It could've been an 8/10 game without the dating sim BS mechanics and if it hadn't made the OG heroes look incompetent every chance they had.

THAT game would've been a solid 8 out 10 (and yes, I would've kept the petting part hehe). But with the abbey part, it's a 5.

I would also add fire emblem to the description but more of a dollar store version of it that was written by A.I.
