Hi Mollie .. I am currently in the process of trying to go through my 1T external drive And attempting to sort through all of my folders of pictures into something more manageable. I have more scanned folders than I cared to even imagine. Over the last 20 years, I have scanned photographs, making them electronic images, but I have also scanned old letters and documents that I also want to hold onto. So I’m trying to sort through all of these as everything is just been in one mass scanning. So I am creating organizational folders on my PC to categorize all my photographs by subject matter… Black-and-white, school, pictures, older generations, and many of my artistic passions over the years.. Once I get through with this process, then I will start to look at duplicate photos and trying to narrow down these folders and also delete what is no longer wanted or needed..
Hey Marva - so good to hear from you!! Wow. . . you have a lot accomplished, and more to go, but keep at it!! Let me know if you have any questions!! Cheers! Mollie
I'm organizing pix on a Windows laptop in File Explorer. Yesterday I downloaded my phone photos from ICloud. I was disappointed to find that the images had extensions of .heic instead of .jpg or .jpeg and I wasn't able to modify them or copy them to a Google doc. What to do?
Hi George - two options. 1. Download the photos but use the three dots menu option and choose More Download Options. Then Download Most Compatible 2. Convert HEIC files with iMazing Converter: imazing.com/converter It's free and easy to use. Also - watch this video for more options: ruclips.net/video/pQjmosYtH_w/видео.htmlsi=cwbtKHJY_Jkswrwx If you use Windows 10, it's pretty similar or (watch this version of the video: ruclips.net/video/sFQEsB9UQE4/видео.htmlsi=nHi8CK2mQHDANRdA Hoping some of this helps! One potential "Gotcha" for working directly with photos in Finder on a Mac - the tags, dates, and comments you enter in the "Get Info" screen are *NOT* the standard EXIF metadata! The comments here are particularly annoying here - I had to write a custom shell script to migrate all the information I'd typed into Finder Comments into the actual EXIF image description (that can be read by other programs). I'm a software engineer by trade, so this was a solvable problem for me, but could be an insurmountable problem for others. Happy to elaborate if it's helpful!
Hi TheaterGirl62! Thanks so much for watching! It's rare that I meet someone who has added used Finder the way you did. I just can't believe how unfunctional Finder is overall! I'm amazed you could write a script to migrate the information over. What made you do this work in Finder versus the Apple Photos app? As a software engineer, I wonder what prompted you to watch this video? I'd love to chat if you would like! Your solution is very advanced and I don't even know if I'd want to replicate! ; ) My calendar link is: www.calendly.com/mollieb/pixplan Cheers! Mollie
Hi there… thank you for watching! Mylio is a powerful photo manager program… you can sync many devices as well as computers… I usually don’t recommend this as it can become complicated. Have you checked them out yet? I love the program and they have much new… Let me know… Cheers! Mollie
Hi Cathy - Thank you so much for watching! There truly is MANY moving parts to getting photos organized. I wish more people would be aware as the photos just keep accumulating every day! Good morning... I have a problem. My cloud drive has deteriorated, and the information, photos, videos, etc., have been retrieved randomly. Previously, the images were organized for each member of my family because we are scattered. Is there an image sorting program for each person that recognizes the image of their face or the person, for example? Please help me with that
Hi there! I like using MYLIO for I depth facial recognition or Apple Photos on a Mac. Here’s a video about Mylio…ruclips.net/video/LO_S1gD2ywY/видео.html Hoping this helps!
Hi, thanks for your videos, they are very helpful Hope you can help me. I have been looking for a long time for photo archiving software that would meet my company's needs without a success, do you know a software that allows you to share photos with clients and has a search option? We are a company that organizes conferences and I need the client to have the option of filtering by topics, I tried Lightroom but it does not meet our needs. I would appreciate it if you could recommend me such software
Dropbox does allow searching. . . have you tried that? I know there are other enterprise solutions for digital asset management out there . . . ruclips.net/video/JVZ00qcNX4Q/видео.html. I'm sorry I am not as much help on the professional side. Cheers! Mollie

I don't understand why you recommend mylio, its awful and has bugs. I downloaded a trial version, then cant delet the folder its created, when I decided not to use it. First requirement of any program is to have the ability to cleanly remove it from your computer. Love some of your other tips
Hi Wolfgang - I am so sorry you haven't been able to delete the folder. . . I have uninstalled Mylio several times. . . over the years. I would hate to have a folder still on my computer if I uninstalled the program. Has this worked? I copied it from the mylio website: manual.mylio.com/24.2/en/topic/uninstall-mylio-photos The Mylio System Folder contains all Thumbnails within the Generated Images Folder. The Generated Images Bundle may also contain some or all Optimized Images. Your Mylio System Folder may also include your Mylio Library Folder and Original Images, depending on your configuration. By default, the Mylio System Folder is stored in your user directory at Users/~username/Mylio. Locate the Mylio System Folder. This will be in your User folder at Users/~username/Mylio by default. Open File Explorer, select the user, and locate the Mylio folder. Right-click on the Mylio folder, choose Show More Options, then select Delete. Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin. Deleting Mylio Photos Application Data The Mylio Photos Application Data folder contains information about where your photos are stored, labels, Albums, other Mylio Photos-specific organization information, and application logs. Deleting the Application Data folder will not delete images or videos. This folder will be in one of two locations, depending on when you installed Mylio Photos on your Windows computer. Option 1 Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run window. Type %localappdata% in the Open field, then press Enter on the keyboard. Locate the Mylio folder. Right-click on the Mylio folder, choose Show More Options, then select Delete. Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
