I really like my aluminum t3, but the pocket clip options keep me from carrying it. The clip-on pocket clip doesn’t work well (Too short and not deep enough carry). I tried the stainless bolt on clip 3 times. And all three times I ended up stripping the tiny cheap screws/nuts trying to keep the clip tight enough to not shift. I’m out of options. So my t3 has become a work bench light only. It’s a shame that these lights are so good, but no good pocket clip options.
Just got my 4000k copy and had to tighten down the ring in the head after it wouldn't turn on a few times, but thankfully that solved it and now it's perfect. With the freshly charged included 10A-rated 14500 on 100% power I'd say the copper part gets too hot to touch in about 15-30 seconds for me lol but that's to be expected, and actually 35% is pretty sustainable (though still in hand warmer territory haha). Dual fuel + up to 5A is amazing, looks and feels great... really my only nitpick (apart from the convoy UI for more tactical or high-reliability use cases) is the veneer on the copper part makes it feel kinda cheap/plasticky up close in hand, and I get that without it people might complain as it tarnishes, though I would vastly prefer the look of raw aged copper against stonewashed titanium rather than artificially preserving the copper under what kinda feels like saran wrap... but that being said, not sure if I care enough to remove the pill and take a blowtorch to burn off the coating... Now I am kinda compelled to "complete the collection" with a copper S2+ (sft40 3000k) and stonewashed s21g (xhp50.3 r70 4000k) and I can hear my wallet crying but sorry friend I must... (But honestly yeah I could easily see something like this asking $100-200 on kickstarter a few years ago, then good luck ever getting any replacement parts... So this seems beyond reasonable actually, and I hope more Cu/Ti lights come out since I don't like how aluminum ages, I hate Ti-on-Ti threads and poor conductivity, pure copper is too heavy/soft, and yeah brass is a little stronger but it's 2% lead... ultimately Cu/Ti is just the optimal combination for weight+heatsinking+durability)
Great remarks... You can remove the clear coat from the copper with some steel wool - save yourself breathing in those fumes 😂 and yeah I agree, the value is second to none really.
It looks like the pink and the newer titanium version have a slimmer middle section. I love all the color and emitter options also so many kelvin options that convoy offers. There is no other brand with so many options.
There's emisar but they're a lot pricier. If you know your LEDs, what you want, Convoy is a bargain... you get the same performance basically but way cheaper.
Is 2,700ºK a very warm light? I'm looking to buy two as presents. I've seen it suggested to buy it with a Vapcell H10 battery, but what charger is recommended for that? Does it double the price? Is a cheap Nitecore D4 on Ali Express ok, is it genuine?
It's pretty warm, yellowish. For the H10, you'd want to get a 14500 cell charger. You can find them easily on eBay etc. not sure if that D4 is genuine or not if it doesn't come from an official dealer.
@@DarrenYeoYT would you not recommend it or do your think it’s fine just wondering I wana use a Usbc battery for convenience on the new t6 but it uses a 5 amp driver like the new t3
I picked up one based on this, 519a 4000k and really like it. Only issue I have is the clip is horrible. Had to use pliers to pull it off as it was bent off center and so tight it wasn't usable.
Reylight has better quality control. But they are significantly more expensive. I've not had any catastrophic issues with my convoy lights, usually it's something like dust under the lens or at the most the led is not centred exactly
Convoy also offer some really awesome and affordable throwers that reylight does not... And being a fan of long range lights, I have to strongly favour... Convoy!
@@DarrenYeoYT yea, the build quality on this T3 seems to be very high for the price. My hesitation is the clip. So generally, LH351D is better for throw and 519A is better for flood? I’m new to the flashlight game haha
Got my eye on that one but with NM1. If the old 1.5 amp Nm1 version threw about 260m then would this newer version be something around 400 meters?. It's a pity that you did not have both with NM1 to be able to show the difference made by the 5a driver. It's a very nice looking light also in the glossy titanium with copper version. I'm currently looking at an 8 amp S6 with SFT25-R but need to see some beam shots and hopefully also some of this T3 with NM1 at 5A.
I only realised after it had shipped that it was a 5A driver :/ I could try desolder the LED, though you really need a hotplate for LED swaps. I think ~400m isn't out of the question, especially for the NM1.F1 (green variant). I don't think there's a linear relationship though. Probably closer to 350.
@@FluttuantChicken I am trying to work that out also. I like my short tube S6 with PM1 and I think 8 amps would blow that whereas the SFT25 is probably near to the limit but should survive moderate use so there are going to be some more lumens but not a huge amount. Just compared indoors my SFT40 5k S8 8amp with my S6 PM1 5amp and the 40 is certainly a larger light area and similar throw but I need to compare them outdoors hopefully tonight. I was going to buy another PM1 but if the beam with the SFT25 was as nice then I would get that instead though it will probably heat more and drain the 18350 more quickly? The new Sofirn also looks interesting.
Have you tried the s6 or s8 host with the 8A driver? If not, what's your opinion on that? Is it too much and gets hot too fast or there are some advantages to it for a certain use case?
I haven't but I think it would be useful for short blasts on turbo for spotting, or as a self-defence light. 8A to some LEDs produces a lot more light than 5A. But the heat is insane, dangerous in fact if you don't lowest the brightness. The battery is at risk of ....
I have S8 and S6 with both 5 and 8 amp drivers and I don't see any great difference. Maybe the 8amp gets hotter a bit sooner but they both get hot on high and need to be turned down. Theoretically the 8amp should have a higher max lumen output but get hotter more quickly so it's just decide what you want but both are good. The 5amp version is probably the safer bet and slightly cheaper but I like just getting the 8amp version to have that extra power for occasional use.
@@geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzI wonder if having the 8A on let's say level 3 or 4 would give you more brightness than a 5A on a higher level.... Along with less heat. Basically, I'm asking if 8A on a lesser level would give you more lumens than the 5A maxed.
I wish I could get into a warm K light, I just can't get into them. I have a 3000K 519 S21 and I just don't like the tint all that well. 4500K is as warm as I seem to like. I usually go back and forth between 5700K, 5000, and 4500. I might think on this light a bit, different tint of course.
I have received mine too. Beautiful but... The clip is too hard to be usable and the knurnings are rough as a wood file. When you try to clip it in the pocket, it practically shave the edge of the pocket. Impossible to clip it on the baseball cap because the overly hardened clip. In other words, even it has a beautiful clip, it is unusable. Mine is with a Nichia 519A in 4000k and the hotspot is not perfectly round, more like lemon shape. Nice flashlight but not perfect. is still place for improvement.
Yes! your still making Convoy videos!!!
Damn right :D might have a few more on the way. Talking to Simon

You might be able to transplant another clip from a Sofirn light etc onto this. I did that for my T6 with good results.
