The simple idea of the dad narrating a story to his kids and sometimes changing things or forgetting them or obscuring details is simple yet brilliant for some reason
Re-watching the show you see, analyze, and realize that Barney and Robin were perfect for each other. Surely yeah that Ted and Robin liked each other but they didn't love each other as much as Barney and Robin both loved each other.
I think if the final scene hadn't had to have been made back in season 2... cause the kids were gonna age... they would have gone for barney and Robin together
john ricciardelli yes, but it didn’t work due to her career choice and Barney’s views on marriage (look at the episode he tried to get his parents back together)
I always thought Robin was the one who initiated this. You can see a change in her body language and the way she’s looking at Barney that she’s thinking about it in the shot before they kiss. Which kind of only serves to make me more upset that she’s the one who tells Ted after repeatedly stopping Barney from cracking and then goes along with Ted cutting Barney out of his life.
Yes hot romance at the same time that makes with friendship. They changed each other better. They have such chemistry, at the same time they was cute. And are lovers and bros too
but they were not a perfect fit. they HAD to break up. ted's wife being ill sucks, but that's how life is sometimes. and I LOVE how the show tries to throw a few curveballs and be a bit like real life where you never know what's gonna happen next.
@@helink.3263 Well, Ted and Robin were going to end up together. The more I rewatch, the cleverer I think the writing was. It was a great example of misdirection throughout.
My favourite Robyn Sparkles song is the Beaver song. To be fair all the songs are hilarious whoever came up with all of them and her persona did an amazing job.
*spoiler* What's really great about this is that an instrumental version of this song plays as Robin walks down the aisle to marry Barney. I thought that was a beautiful little nod to where they began. ❤
Thing is, they were both rather cute when they were young (which they call 'lame'). Then they both suffered heartbreak and rejection which consequently broke their innocence and they became what they call 'awesome' (which imo is just 2 broken individuals). Then they started to believe in true love again (at least with Barney, but I deffo think Robin started to more) when they got together. Then the stupid show ruined it when they split them. I'll always think of them as being perfect for each other
Tracy dying was foreshadowed and we saw it coming with that 45 days and 45 seconds speech Ted made but Barney and Robin's divorce was bs and so random, very sad! I honestly don't consider it canon...
At the time we realized they had something special. I think they both already had feelings for each other in that moment. Maybe Barney more had that feeling, but Robin too
Why did the makers have to use that recorded tape of children "pushing Ted to go after Robin" when they all knew that Barney and Robin's buildup have gone too far for that tape and they got divorced forcibly by Makers. Only to use 10 years old tape 🥺😢🤧
@@Musicienne-DAB1995 I totally agree. All they did was argue in their relationship. It was not smooth sailing like it was with Ted. The only disagreement Robin had with Ted was that she did not want a picket fence with kids. But maybe he would have changed her mind about it had they been together, but she stuck to her guns. She turned to Barney, who also wanted the same things as she did, but it did not work out. Also, Ted was never mean to her. He always respected her and never hated her and always remained her friend. Barney kind of rejected her after they got divorced, and Robin did not like his behavior afterwards, as she pointed out to whale Lily at the party.
@@7marveTed and Robin had so many disagreements, they fought the whole series Barney was the one she loved most and wanted a life with. Ted was just a friend who wanted more than he can handle. Robin is way too much for a guy like Ted. Robin deserved to be with Barney forever, for the rest of her life. The ending is trashes all over Robin and Barney and I will never understand why anyone thinks Ted was better for Robin when he hated her independence, he disrespected her all the time put her down on the things she liked. Made her seem like a terrible person because she didn’t love him enough. Pursues her when she said no several times. They have zero chemistry or things in common and they are not soulmates. Barney is her soulmate, Ted needed to grow up and move on. Barney deserves to be with his wife period.
Maybe better chemistry becasue of the obvious similarities. But not a better relationship. Neither of them demanded anything of the other, but that ended up being their undoing.
They always made sense idk how people can’t see that. They are soulmates who made sense together the entire time but their relationship is overshadowed by bullshit with Ted. Ted and Robin made no sense at all.
As much as they ended up working really well (fuck the ending), this scene is kinda fucked up. Barney is committing a cardinal sin towards Ted, but most importantly Robin is at the weakest state of mind she's ever been at this point in the story.
if barney and robin were meant to be it would have worked but it didnt work so it wasnt meant to be they were toxic together also 🤢🤮 ( i dont ship ted and her either btw victoria was perfect for him)
I like a lot of the Robin and Barney scenes, but I completely changed my mind about them a couple of years ago. Robin loved Barney, but her true love was Ted.
@@Musicienne-DAB1995no he wasn’t people need to stop thinking this. Barney is her soulmate, he was The One for her but didn’t know it early on. Ted and Robin have nothing in common to actually be soulmates. Robin calls Barney her soulmate NOT Ted. She ends up with the love of her life and that is Barney. Period!
I loved the joey and Rachel thing however it didn’t make sense at all but loved joey’s love for her Barney and robin thing weren’t that good I didn’t like it either!!! I loved Barney with Nora and quinn and thought those two characters were perfect for him
No, you're not alone. Barney and Robin were proof that just because you have sexual chemistry and appear to be uninterested in feelings does not mean that your relationship will last. Robin claimed to want just the bare minimum, but their relationship fell apart when it became clear that she wanted more. In effect, she wanted what Ted gave her, but without any of the expectations-- and that did not work.
"They watched it over and over that night until finally they stopped watching"
And then Barney again asks "So should I just put it in?"
My favorite detail about this is that throughout the video they get closer and closer on the couch “until they stopped watching”
I noticed that too LOL
The simple idea of the dad narrating a story to his kids and sometimes changing things or forgetting them or obscuring details is simple yet brilliant for some reason
In a way it makes the show immune to continuity errors
People say the same thing about the gospels
Like the wonder years
‘Travel all around the globe from Alberta to Ontario’ has to be the funniest line ever 😂
For the first time, Barney doesn’t have to be someone else and it just happened.
reason no. 1234985 that barney and robin are great

If u look closely they keep moving closer and closer to each other 😊
Yup, that´s life right there, i always praised this show by how much detail to "this actually happen" they put in
RIGHT!!!

Well actually there's a part in which they are closer then they aren't
They are seriuosly the best couple in this show

2:15 is where she decides to make her move
If you look really closely u can notice the ongoing tension on both of their expression as they keep on moving closer to each other on that couch
I don't consider Barney and Robin's divorce canon from that season finale. Because they were made for each other. Best on-screen romance ever.
Me either. The final episode should be taken with a grain of salt. It never happened
The end should be : Barney - Robin. Ted - Tracy 👌
I loved them too!

Aww, love that scene
There are 2 HIMYM hills that I will die on.
1. Barney & Robin 4ever.
2. Tracy doesn't die!
I've got your back, we fall together.
To bad they wrote that ending before the pilot was even filmed 📽️

I like this song.
Screw the finale! Barney and Robin forever!
Yap I ignore the finale and the ones who say ted abd robin are endgame

Yesss!!! Hated that finale, loved Robin and Barney!
Absolutely
I remember watching this moment when the show aired. I may have actually screamed of excitement.
Barney tried to learn everything about Robin and lights up when she’s in the room. They should have been endgame
I have to admit I like this love song and the beach in the back round was really beautiful.
Really great episode w the amazing surprise ending that just fit perfectly. Also actually a pretty catchy song

Can't believe I used to play this song every evening and also in my car while driving to work. Dammm
The early 90's pop songs vibe Robin's music video gives is amazing! 😊
I like to think that, somewhere in her apartment, Robin still has her loyal robot sidekick just hanging out.
It’s amazing how much I loved this show and how angry I was by the ending.
In the german dub, this scene is even more hilarious, because, for unknown reasons, the translated "is this alan thic?" with "Ist das Jason Seagel?" 🙈
Wirklich 😂?

Sad, perhaps. But surprising? Their relationship had a very shallow foundation. Too similar to each other.

Barney and Robin's divorce was actually inevitable. The first time they broke up revealed why ultimately, they would not last.
