The very fact that Carlos is still competing at 60 years old and still picking up the odd win or 2 is truly incredible, Carlos is a true legend of motorsport and only time will tell when he calls it a day, in all honesty he could probably carry on for another 5-10 years
it's crazy that i just know this today, at his age, he still managed to place 1st in 2020 Dakar Rally, and 3rd in 2021 season. I can see his passion for rallying will never be gone. He will be always be my favorite rally driver and will have my respect forever.
And replying to your comment this 2024, Sainz Sr. now becomes the oldest champion in Dakar rally history after winning his 4th title in Cars category. ✊🏻🔥
He is criminally underrated, could win on many occasions a lot more championships, at least in '95 and '98. Only to say, he is absolute legend, one and only El matador of WRC
It's awesome seeing him still competing. Most, if not all of the drivers of his generation are no longer competing. And now I'm old enough to see him in his prime, and now I'm watching his son competing and winning.
SAINZ..&..MOYA..the best couple in the RALIS in History......it is beautiful to listen and see the ondboar. .Of these PHENOMENA... GREAT SAINZ and MOYA..!!!!!!!!!!!!
A true gentleman and legend. We loved him very much here in Greece, along with Colin. Also he had the fastest co-driver in terms of the rate he called the pacenotes.
Röhrl, Kankkunen, Loeb, Ogier, Sainz, Colin McRae, Tommi Mäkinen... These guys were at another level. Kalle Rovanperä will probably join them up there.
Sainz' legacy is way bigger than his results show · Toyota was "unstable" in the 1980s before they hired him, had shown speed but nothing major - During and after his run, they were unstoppable · Subaru/Prodrive was another half-baked "contender" in the early 90s that he pushed to the absolute highest of highs · Ford/M-Sport were very inconsistent, even went winless in 1995, and then Sainz got them a lot of podiums plus a couple of wins in for 2 seasons... and again went winless in 1998 when he left · Toyota knew he was a sure shot, the Corolla WRC was immediately competitive on every surface and things only fell short because of Toyota's obsession with F1 · Ford/M-Sport rehired him in 2000 because the new Focus WRC looked like a mess from the design board - Sainz made it painfully average (that's about as far as that design could go) and was one of the main moving forces towards relying more and more on downforce · Citroen ends up making the Xsara WRC a reality... but the car was only good on tarmac and reliability right until they signed Carlos and helped them create the most successful rally model in history · AFTER HE MOVED TO RALLY-RAID, Volkswagen starts playing around with Polo WRC, he works on it... and that car becomes the best thing since sliced bread on its very 1st season NO COINCIDENCES, he has even done wonders for things like the Peugeot 3008 DKR, X-Raid's Mini-branded buggy and the more recent Audi electric-powered-but-recharged-by-gasoline buggy. He can't stop helping engineers build absurdly good racing vehicles.
Carlos is a great driver with superb driving skills. At that time he with Luis Moya and the Celica were an unbeatable combination. He still showing skills spirit and lessons learned at 61 age in the Dakar 2024. A legend!
Before all that, and look if he is a great driver, but even more than a great driver he is a great person, something very difficult because as a driver he is superlative.
I feel proud to be Spanish because of wonderful people like him or Rafa Nadal, the politicians of this country who do not represent the majority of us should learn from them.
Carlos one of the best drivers in anything with 4 wheels and in my all time favorite top 5 and one thing Carlos when he was winning if you compare with his son now how can look father and son almost identical 😅

A true legend. Half a km away from being a three-time champion as well.
He is criminally underrated, could win on many occasions a lot more championships, at least in '95 and '98. Only to say, he is absolute legend, one and only El matador of WRC
El Matador,thanks for the memories
Now we understand where Carlos Jr. got his smooth operation from.

Sainz' legacy is way bigger than his results show
· Toyota was "unstable" in the 1980s before they hired him, had shown speed but nothing major - During and after his run, they were unstoppable
· Subaru/Prodrive was another half-baked "contender" in the early 90s that he pushed to the absolute highest of highs
· Ford/M-Sport were very inconsistent, even went winless in 1995, and then Sainz got them a lot of podiums plus a couple of wins in for 2 seasons... and again went winless in 1998 when he left
· Toyota knew he was a sure shot, the Corolla WRC was immediately competitive on every surface and things only fell short because of Toyota's obsession with F1
· Ford/M-Sport rehired him in 2000 because the new Focus WRC looked like a mess from the design board - Sainz made it painfully average (that's about as far as that design could go) and was one of the main moving forces towards relying more and more on downforce
· Citroen ends up making the Xsara WRC a reality... but the car was only good on tarmac and reliability right until they signed Carlos and helped them create the most successful rally model in history
· AFTER HE MOVED TO RALLY-RAID, Volkswagen starts playing around with Polo WRC, he works on it... and that car becomes the best thing since sliced bread on its very 1st season
NO COINCIDENCES, he has even done wonders for things like the Peugeot 3008 DKR, X-Raid's Mini-branded buggy and the more recent Audi electric-powered-but-recharged-by-gasoline buggy. He can't stop helping engineers build absurdly good racing vehicles.
that's true
Thanks for the infos
One of the most unique ways of driving I've seen is by Carlos at wales rally gb.
Carlos is a great driver with superb driving skills. At that time he with Luis Moya and the Celica were an unbeatable combination. He still showing skills spirit and lessons learned at 61 age in the Dakar 2024. A legend!
Think Carlos is true gentleman and like wise his son.
Before all that, and look if he is a great driver, but even more than a great driver he is a great person, something very difficult because as a driver he is superlative.
Carlo Sainz my Toyota mestro
🇪🇸👏thx sainz
El Matador... King Carlos!!
Afortunado de verle competir desde el Seat Panda, siempre ha sido un placer verle en los tramos dando todo su esfuerzo! El Matador 💪
The One.
I feel proud to be Spanish because of wonderful people like him or Rafa Nadal, the politicians of this country who do not represent the majority of us should learn from them.
Great Carlos.....el matador.....
Im so proud to be Spanish like Carlos Sainz, El Matador.
3:41 An accidental donut. 👍🏻
Carlos one of the best drivers in anything with 4 wheels and in my all time favorite top 5 and one thing Carlos when he was winning if you compare with his son now how can look father and son almost identical 😅
I wish I could get his signature on my St165 GtFour
En Castellano seria un detalle.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Those morons who cheer in the middle of the road are the only unchanged things in the WRC.
El matador
Seat Panda ? Or Marbella, maybe ?
Kankkunen Is the G.O.A.T of wrc but King carlos sainz is the G.O.A.T of dirty Motorsport
And now he's trying to manage Ferrari behind the scenes, using Santander as his backing to get his son what he wants.
WRC is so dead due to FIA's headless decisions that we can only rehash the old content.
WRC is still very alive
Один из великих! Зря отдал сына на растерзание в большой цирк.
