  • In the original Hebrew text, Psalm 111 is written as an acrostic poem. In 2017 we used this Psalm as the theme for our Thanksgiving Day service at our church. We were encouraged to write our own acrostic poems. I wrote one other poem using the word RHABDOMYOSARCOMA as my son was diagnosed just weeks prior with this rare form of cancer. I used that poem to give thanks to God and express confidence in his faithfulness, even in the midst of a difficult time. The other poem I wrote ended up being a song based on Psalm 111. The lines spell out the words GREAT ARE THE WORKS OF THE LORD JESUS, as this was the overall message of the Psalm. It also was a way to testify to God's greatness and declare his works from the past gave me confidence that he is still the same, faithful, working God, and that he could heal my son. Praise God, my son is doing well and is now a healthy 7 year old boy. You can see him running around in a few of my earlier videos from that time period, nearly five years ago. It's amazing that during that very same time, I developed my love for writing Scripture Songs. Focusing on God's Word and putting his words to music gave me such joy. I'm glad I get to share it with others. Hope you are blessed by this song as well, though not a word-for-word song. Blessings!
    Great are the works of the LORD!
    Remembered by those who adore him.
    Enduring forevermore;
    All of his ways can be trusted.
    They are established forever and ever.
    All your ways are full of splendor, Your
    Righteousness endures forever, in
    Everything, my heart will thank the LORD!
    The LORD is good and full of mercy,
    He satisfies, with food for the hungry;
    Eternally, he remembers his covenant.
    Worship in fear of the LORD!
    Offering praises unending.
    Remember his steadfast love,
    Kneel to One who is Holy!
    Serve him with wisdom and understanding.
    Only he could world salvation,
    Fulfilling all; the price of redemption.
    The works of his hands,
    He alone can command, are
    Eternally faithful and just!
    Lift up your praise to the LORD!
    Offer your lives to his glory.
    Redemption has come from his hand,
    Declaring that we are his people.
    Jesus, you reign evermore!
    Eternally love by the Father. Your
    Spirit poured out on your Church,
    Ushering in your Kingdom. Your
    Servants are grateful for every work you've done.

    Great song, and great idea turning your own rendition of it into an acrostic as well. With appreciation from a fellow Psalm song writer. Every blessing to you and your household.
