Takes me back to thinking about when I did landscaping, raking was always the hated part for me. Right up until I found one of those push lawn vacuums. Eight horse engine, yeah it was kinda clumsy to move with it's small wheels, until those got upgraded. After that the only gripe about it was the small capacity but it was light-years better than running a rake I felt. Small water oak leaves, giant magnolia leaves, pinestraw with cones, poplar leaves and flowers... That vacuum was one of the best investments ever for the job.
thank you for this. It can be an art to it with technique and good machinery. Bulk vacuuming and shredding is key too. I just upgraded our Agrifab 's engine and the thing sucks leaves up, sticks too, with ease. A slight funnel-like end on that hose would increase efficiency about 10-20%. (just me thinking aloud(
I can’t imagine how many thousands of dollars worth of equipment is sitting there that is so nice. I wish I had anything to help load leaves other than a bucket and a rake into my truck bed. That drone flies a long time up there!
Get a small, hand held gas powered leaf vac. Cut the discharge tube down to fit into a trash can made to fit lid with screens for air displacement. Fill then empty the can into the truck.
I have a PTO powered one called a Goosen that you pull with a tractor you can just drive over the leaves or use the hose. I got it from a country club for $100!
Absolutely love the concept of cutting an alleyway thru the pile and then working the edges. I've watched so may try to push the pile. Even with a pair of guys it doesn't work as well. Blowing the edges down a 10-20 ft alley is incredible. Walking up and down the edge is incredible feeling of power as a tumult of leaves pours down. Requires a circular motion with the blower that takes a little practice but once mastered you "Control The Wind"
That was (sniff) so poetic but I'm not too nostalgic for my prior years of blowin' rakin' & (oof!) baggin'. Guy's got the serious gear yet truck's too pretty for this gig:/
I did this for 20 years an this was always my favorite time of year just beca8se of this right here we used lawn mowers to pick them all up an then dropped em for the sucker we put a drop arm on the back that allowed us to carry the tube it takes alot of the weight off it while transporting an using
I miss the days when we were allowed to burn the leaves in those metal cans with the holes in them but the stupid environmental stuff started and they banned it where I live, it used to smell so good on a chilly autumn day and yes I guess it might have been a fire hazard if not done right. The city used to have these giant vacuums towed by a truck that had a big box on the back, it had a huge pipe with a ninety degree angle and the end had a wide flat funnel thing, there were usually two guys with rakes, they would walk alongside and pull the leaves from the gutter and the vacuum would suck them up, as a little kid I used to love watching it, now we have to bag the leaves, I have a Snapper with a snapperizer attachment, if you don't know what it is it's a screen type device that attaches to the mower deck, you need to take the blade off attach it then put the blade back on, it basically shreds the leaves and reduces them so you can fit for in a bag then I have a funnel that goes inside the paper leaf bags and keeps it open, it's a lot more efficient than raking and works best when the leaves are dry, I don't know if they still make the snapperizer, they used to cost about 120 bucks, I found one at a car swap meet a guy had, it was brand new in the box, he didn't even know what it was, I asked him how much, he said 20 bucks, it was probably the quickest sale he ever had, my friend who passed away had one in his shed, I don't think he ever used it so now I have an extra one.
i run a little wonder HPV for leaf clean ups, doesn't make a mess like a blower and you don't have to quit if it's windy sucks all the leaves right up. I empty the bag into a 95 gallon garbage can I can empty the bag and be back to running in 1 minute.
Im always looking for new ways to collect the leaves with the billygoat what ive noticed is raking the leaves in to the hose doesnt create as good of a shread
Build yourself a plywood 2 piece wedge backstop hinged in the middle with the appropriate opening for hose and thank me later. Fold it up and move to the next job. I mulch the pile with my ztr to make it hold way more leaves. It's basically dust and confetti. Less need for dumping this way. It's a money maker for sure.
How did you film this? Very nicely done. Forget all those folks in the comments that say their way is better or faster. You are doing great, your truck is an indicator of that.
Blow them into my yard! I get the ones my neighbors pay to have blown to the street and spread them over my grass and run over them with my mower. They break down over the winter and feed my lawn. Never have figured out why people get rid of leaves.
I feel like once you get the the point at 4:30 its quicker to grab two rakes and shovel them into a big pile and come back with the blower to clean it up, no?
use a rake to move big piles. even on concrete. it saves so much time. less time on the blower. blower cleans use the rest quickly. edit. commented too soon.

I do the same thing, I try to rake/blow all my leaves into the driveway or street. Then I vacuum them up with a push style yard vacuum that sucks them up and mulches them. Problem is, my neighborhood is all 100 year old oak trees that drop gigantic leaves! So my vacuum gets clogged up pretty easily. But I'm only doing my own yard so I'm not going to be buying a giant trailer vacuum like this. Must be nice though!
It’s crazy my roommate hates it when the yard guy wakes him up to blow leaves so we tried raking them ..yard way to big ..had to use a hand held blower so I said a backpack blower is faster so now he wants the backpack blower that pros use it’s like $629 ECHO X Series PB-9010T to use 1 to 2 times a year..and his mother buys him whatever he wants..almost 10k in apple products not counting his 8k tv that was close to $6k

I was too lazy to go back and clean it right for the customer.....awesome....you're a great business man 🤣
I feel like that suction hose should have a large funnel on the end so it collects more leaves, as they are blown in.
Our how about a v shaped wall of maybe plywood where the suction is at the center?

I was thinking this too. And an old trampoline net placed behind the hose to minimize blowpast.
The drone is impressive. It barely moved it seems, for good amount of time on a windy day

Hmm, I would try fabricating a large scoop/funnel (like a snowblower shape) and then try blowing all the leaves into that target. Nice equipment.

You would be amazed at how much more control you have over the leaves if you put a handheld blower in your left hand.
What was the disposition of the collected leaves?
Much better would have been to mulch the leaves into the lawn.
What size of a dump trailer is that? Nice video.
DO you compost all those leaves? If you have the space and the know how it could make you some money as well as some prime compost
noisey leaf blowers 24/7 in these "manicured" neighborhoods... meh... let's the leaves sit... amazing what folks worry about when they own a home.
