Happy Birthday TIMBO patrol! Same as my bday. Yes that's the same way mine are rotated. Got just shy of 120,000kms out of my last set of AT on my patrol.
G'day Craig, Yeah mate, it's been a great 13 year with the mighty GU. Happy birthday mate for the 8th May, hope you had a top day. Great milage from your ATs, it's well worth rotating them, that for sure. Thanks mate for your reply. Cheers Tim
Well said Tim. By the time you see odd tyre wear it’s usually to late to get it back, and let’s s face it, mud tyres don’t wear the best. Prior preparation prevents particularly poor performance. I run two spares, they get included in the rotation and it’s amazing how many more kms you get from a set of tyres. One tyre that is directional is the Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. Great video, well done.
G'day mate, Yeah, spot on. If tyres are wearing uneven, it's really too late to get them back to where they should be. Regular checks and rotations are key. Thanks heaps mate for your feedback. Cheers Tim
Hi Tim, just a quick note of thanks. I’ve just got back from the VIC high plains and used your solo awning setup/pack up technique and it worked a treat. On a different note, last winter we were heading up to McNamara’s Hut when we came across a deer hunter camping on the side on the track. We passed the same spot a week ago and this sh*thead had thrown all his cans, stubbies and plastic bags into the surrounding bush, we cleaned the area up. 😡

I need to get up and do mine shortly so thanks for sharing. Honestly though it is something I have never worried about on any other vehicle Ive owned but have found the Passenger Side Rear is wearing quite a lot on the outside, Tyre shops & mechanics blame it on all the Round Abouts in my area. Being that is wearing so much on the outside would you still recommend putting it on the front passenger side? My spare is a Highway tyre atm so try to avoid using that and my Drivers Side Rear is much newer than the others due to a puncture in the side wall not to long ago. Should I just swap the sides for now?
G'day mate, If your spare is a totally different tyre, i probably wouldn't use it on the car with your other tyres. Different tread patterns will react differently from the others, specially in the wet. Just rotate the same tread tyres you have on your 4WD. Thanks heaps for your feedback mate. Cheers Tim.
When those tyre went on, all 5 wheels were balanced, so they should be in balance after the rotation is complete. Thats why go for a drive to see if they are still in balance as mine were. Thanks for your feedback. Cheers Tim.

Gday mate , Sorry about no new videos. New vids are being planned for this year. It’s been tough times with travel over the past few years with Covid restrictions. See how we go going forward. Thanks mate for your support. Cheers Tim
Great advice . . Another suggestion - Check your tyre pressures - Don't do a Leanne and be lazy, as we know, running low pressure on bitumen isn't a good idea. 🙄 🥴
I do my rotations properly. Only need to pay for a balance if they are out after the rotation. Nothing wrong with doing your own rotations. Cheers Tim.
You can only tell if they’re out of balance if you put them on a balancer! If you’re leaving it till it rattles your steering wheel it’s been out of balance for too long. And they have to take them off to balance them anyway, tell them how you want them rotated!

G'day mate,
Yeah, ive never had a directional tyre and dont think i would be cause of the rotation issues that you mention.
Thanks heaps for your feedback mate.
Cheers Tim
@@timbates4wdadventures thanks for the video, loads of great info :)
@@officialWWM wicked , thanks mate.
G'day mate,
If your spare is a totally different tyre, i probably wouldn't use it on the car with your other tyres.
Different tread patterns will react differently from the others, specially in the wet.
Just rotate the same tread tyres you have on your 4WD.
Thanks heaps for your feedback mate.
Cheers Tim.
@@timbates4wdadventures thanks Tim.
@@OnCountryWithMick cheers mate.
Hi Tim most of the time I'm using 2wd on my Pajero sport vehicle.does the same rotation apply
G'day mate,
My Patrol drives around a lot in 2WD, thats the rotation pattern i use for my tyres.
Cheers Tim
@@timbates4wdadventures thanks mate
@@taimoga7372 no worries
Hi Tim, what about balancing them ? Cheers. Don't they need to be balanced
When those tyre went on, all 5 wheels were balanced, so they should be in balance after the rotation is complete.
Thats why go for a drive to see if they are still in balance as mine were.
Thanks for your feedback.
Cheers Tim.
Hi Tim, what about balancing them ? Cheers
I dont find i need an alignment unless the steering starts pulling to one side.
Cheers Tim
I leave all my tyres as fitted, that way you only have to buy 2 at a time rather than 5 ?
I hope ya alright Batesy. Haven’t seen ya on for a while 👍
Gday mate
Going ok thanks mate for asking.
I’ll do a live chat video shortly to explain what’s going on.
Thanks again mate, really appreciate it.

@@annod6 Thanks mate.
How often do you balance your wheels?
Gday mate,
I only balance my wheels if I’m getting a vibration about 70kph through the steering wheel.
Those wheels currently haven’t been balanced in over 2-3 years.
Thanks for your feedback mate.
Cheers Tim
What’s happened to Tim ???
Why no new video for 5 months?
Gday mate ,
Sorry about no new videos.
New vids are being planned for this year.
It’s been tough times with travel over the past few years with Covid restrictions.
See how we go going forward.
Thanks mate for your support.
Cheers Tim
Granted it's extra work, but I recommend 5 tyre rotation every 5,000 ks as the ideal for most even tyre wear & longest life.
G'day Glen,
When i had 6 tyres on my Patrol.
I rotated those every 5000ks.
Cheers Tim
@@timbates4wdadventures Now that's dedication - respect Tim.
@@glenwillson5073 it is mate. But worth doing to get the most out of the tyres.
I usually just cross them over for example front right goes on rear left
Are you just rotating the 4 tyres?
To be using that pattern.
Thanks for your reply mate.
Cheers Tim
Yea because my spare is different brand and only about 40% tread if i was doing long distance travel i would change it too a new 1
@@braydenclark5828 ahh that’s fair enough mate.
Great feedback.
Cheers Tim
Great advice . . Another suggestion - Check your tyre pressures - Don't do a Leanne and be lazy, as we know, running low pressure on bitumen isn't a good idea. 🙄 🥴
Yes, tyre pressures are very important, for both on and off road.
Cheers Tim
oi oi, you have not posted for a while everything ok?
G'day Jamie,
All going ok mate.
I'll do a live video soon on whats going on with the videos.
Thanks mate for your reply.

You got a balancer in the shed? Pay a shop to do it properly..
@@anthonymackay3898 yeah fair call mate.
