- Some stories feel like home and if you've ever, in any situation, felt like the odd one out, this story will feel like home to you.
Are you the friend who walks behind when there isn't space for all of you, the one who gets talked over, chosen last, forgotten? Are you the odd one out?
Because if you are, in this Tape A Tale story "Odd One Out", @nidhinarwal tells us how she felt when she was the left out. Her story makes us all believe that even in feeling alone, we are not alone.
This story was performed at the Kahaaniya Mini Tour in Lucknow organized by Tape A Tale and Kalakaksh Talent House.

Really we need that white pencil to our black chart paper to make 🌟. And that white pencil my friend is far more than precious, which brightens up the darkness in that chart paper, same as you do in our lives.
Listening to this at 3:50 am in the morning and at that point in my life where I'm becoming the odd one out in my circle, moreover I'm just an option for others while did everything thing for them it just hurts 💔😢.

Odd one out : sometimes situations throw you far back and everyone who with you are lost and you can't even see or hear them but the epiphany is that you become more strong for any situation and not afraid to being alone & isolated , learn self love ,self importance .... and that odd one out become UNIQUE

Truly it feels like my story.... At my school I was that nerd who was always remembered at the time of difficult math problems, assignments, drawings.... People always thought my importance is only for this... I was the fool that thought I had such an amazing group of friends who valued me and our group was the topic of envy
Soon I began to realize I am being left out when,
In dance performance the centre were all my friends except me and it was decided by themselves, There was this freind who was still a little worse in dancing than me but was part of the centre... And this unfairness was seen by other fellow dancers but my friends were totally oblivious to it.... No one has a say in it coz this was decided by one of my friend and the choreographer of the group
During special performances my friend were rehearsing together without telling or inviting me.... I was a fool who didn't even know about it and was asking to strangers about my friends if they have seen them coz I was being bored, when I found out still I was happy for them and wanted to watch their progress, but just when I reached the door I heard a boy making fun of me in their group and my friends didn't even refute it though they didn't say anything bad about me.... I was not hurt by his words coz u can't be liked by everyone.. But the thing which hurt me was.... Were they really my friends who were listening to someone else saying "how can u be with such a girl"
During games period they were hanging out together, I being left out still made up an excuse for them that I wasn't good at sports so I should better head out to class to solve extra problems.... But still a place in my heart was hurting knowing that they were not playing any game but having fun and talking
I came to know about their crushes and relationships from others when the whole school was aware of it , I was still doubting their words, how can I being their friend doesn't know and they can know..... But when I asked about the rumours from them they always denied it, so I got angry at others ,how can they spread such rumours...... But they said that they are hiding from me coz they thought I would judge them for having early love.... I confirmed this thing for a second time and they accepted the rumours, I congratulated them... But deep inside I was hurt for their lack of trust in me, If I had judged someone before in front of them then I would have accepted the reason but whenever we talked about such things they were the ones judging others and I always said it's their business if they are happy with it...I never imposed my ideologies of not falling in love early (though having crushes and confessions) but I never judged others.I wonder if my friends didn't understand me well or I didn't make everything clear
I really thought sometimes, am I really not that fun to be with... But they always laugh whenever I crack a joke, they have fun teasing me, So am I really Overthinking, people can't stick around with each other everytime, the three of them might need their alone time so I should also let them be.
But I also want to be alone when I am the only one in the class who has solved this problem, why can't my friends understand my wishes when I am letting them alone which they want.
Like this story teller has said I was also made known of my usefulness when each one of my three friends were sharing their worries with me coz I was the only one who would wipe their tears,......but did they ever knew I also felt sad and had countless tears and I can't even tell them that they are the reason coz of shame and fear that they may exclude me for real, so I pretended to be strong and smiled at them though deep inside I was crying.
What's funny if I had to count my real friends I would definitely name them,coz they were there in my early teenage years and I genuinely invested my emotion, soon we reached an intense study period in high school everyone chose their own path and we got seperated, since then I had only made friend according to their usefulness, I didn't got attached to them though being invited countless times,though knowing the other person wanted to be closer I made excuses to them and they soon dropped their interest in me.... Coz I didn't want to restart that happy and sad cycle again.... I became aloof to others but deep inside I still crave for a friend to whom I can share my deeper feelings
Thanx to the story teller I could share things which I forgot and were left in my heart for years.... Having said that I have many happy experiences too besides these few sad instances. I believe I can find opportunities of finding true friends in future.... There is a long way ahead

When you said, "bheer mein hokar bhi akeli lgti hoon"... That line really hit me.. Because I feel like this, when I'm with my friends... Because I don't have best friends.. When we go outside then they talk secrets and that time I feel very bad... I don't want to know your secrets but just value my friendship... & don't say at public place that just a minute.. Because when you start to talk about your secrets then you all just forget me...

Even I feel the same, I mean my classmates are really in a hurry to grow up. Getting into relationships, thinking using abusive words is 'cool' , Partying in restaurants, Working on looks and not making yourself a better human being. I really want to keep the child in me alive. Also,I think that everything has its own time. Get into relationships when you are settled, Do partiesnwith your own hard earned money, Celebrate your successes and I am damn sure that one will enjoy the life more than they think they are doing today✌️
At times it scars you that there is no one like you, no one who
would actually understand you. It feels terrible to know that u got to fight your battles alone, but after u succeed it feels amazing .

Throughout my school life I've always been made the odd one out in everything by those friends whom I grew with going together from KG till the end of school life. But, when I went to a new city for college, I never knew that a group of local strangers would take me in like family. Now I'm back to my city & obviously being left out here, but, I'm lucky enough that my college family hasn't let me go away from them, even when I'm so far away from them rn!
