True, but it's not really fair to judge the past based on the ethical standards of today. Besides, the original song was written in 1938. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. Just imagine how much different this song would be if it was written just 3 years later.
He's very reminiscent of Bob Fosse. When the musical Oklahoma was being made into a film in the 50s an older woman choreographer saw some of the fotage and said the dancing was all very nice and good then said "...but where's the sex?". So Fosse was brought in to spice up some of the moves. He also choreographed what was basically the film's love scene done in dance. When a dance production wanted sexy they brought in Fosse.
