Great art teacher! The way everything explained in details while painting, it’s very helpful. Thank you!

You're right. Helen's commentary while she paints is definitely a key factor in her popularity. Her "Fly on Your Own" concept, where she equips viewers with the skills to become self-sufficient, resonates with many artists. It's a refreshing approach that empowers students and fosters a sense of creative independence.

I must say that I love this woman, and only wish was introduced to her at the time she made these brilliant tutorials, it could have saved me an awful lot of faffing about! Still, better late than never! :)

As important to me as her skii and techniquel are her words, her philosophy of painting, I've always enjoyed hearing her thoughts. What a creative, beautiful mind

Thanks, Another lesson full of information... paint delicates last...backgrounds dictate...body color from center to edge... balance meaning...5 tones... placement...accept unfinished look...i also get the feeling from watching her videos she had a crush on Rembrandt! Listen at 13:00 when she says Rembrandt "was kinda cute".

Yes, that's true. It seems from watching her talk about him in several lessons that there was some professional admiration. A crush? Maybe. Thanks for the comment and your support of the channel.

How do you avoid ruining your tops?

    • @HelenVanWyk

I assume you are asking about Helen's clothes. Helen passed away many years ago, so a direct answer isn't possible. I don’t recall Helen mentioning clothing during her lessons, but as you watch other lessons, you might find an answer. Thanks for the question. Keep watching and enjoy Helen's other lessons.
