To start our Indonesian street food tour in Jakarta, Indonesia, we tasted the locally made ketoprak. There are so many popular Indonesian foods that you can find on the streets of Jakarta, and ketoprak is one of the foods to eat in Jakarta. Nearby we went to a local shop for soto betawi, one of the must try foods to eat in Jakarta.
On our Indonesian food tour, we tasted nasi padang with rendang. Nasi padang with rendang is an incredibly flavourful and tasty street food in Indonesia that we had to try. We continued our Jakarta street food tour tasting sate kambing. Sate kambing is one of the best street foods you can eat in Jakarta. The sate kambing at Sate Kambing Jaya Agung is on another level!
To finish off our Indonesian street food tour in Jakarta, we tasted the huge nasi goreng kambing at Nasi Goreng Kambing Kebon Sirih. This huge nasi goreng kambing is made in a massive wok full of nasi and kambing. This is one of the most popular foods to taste in Jakarta, so it was a must on our Jakarta street food tour in Indonesia.

The shrimp cake looked really good! It's so interesting to see how you just help yourself to so many side dishes. A lot of the preparation seems very labour intensive. We were very jealous of the fried rice with lamb😋😋!

This is ketupat not Lontong. Ketupat made from coconut leaves and the shape like a Kite. And lontong made from banana leaves and the shape is round and long.

You can see the ketupat(rice compress) are real when it covered with leaf not by plastic. The reason for that because using leaf make the ketupat/lontong takes a lot of time to boil.

Indonesian street food culture is something that vloggers need not exert much effort to rave about. Maybe if you like cooking you can make your own ketoprak... because it's actually very simple. Only maybe the ketupat
ice cake is a little more difficult and takes longer...

Nasi padang quality varies from one place to another. And for authentic nasi padang, please go to west sumatra. Because you wont know what hits you. The flavor there is just different. And jackfruit rendang is a must try.

When u eat peyek udang (crunchy udang) u should asked them to pour the ayam gulai soup (kuah ayam gulai). It would make ur peyek soggy and Crunchy also flavorful

I've just been zoning in on the words that seem similar or sounds similar to Tagalog, pardon in advance for any misspelling, just in case:
- krupuk sounds similar to kropek (shrimp cracker)
- bihun sounds similar to bijon (rice noodles)
- achar is similar to achara (pickled veg)
- kambing actually means the same, mutton.
I am really interested in the technques on how the sauces where made, like the savory peanut sauce of the first dish. I am also drawn in on how the mutton barbeque is made.
I am almost laughing with Chris' mystery dish with the beef rendang. 😂 Did you finally know what it was?

I think how Indonesian and Philippines language is similar maybe because one of our old kingdom use to trade spice with Philippines, maybe because of that our language is similar, that's what I remember in our history book. Also since Indonesian language is basically conbination of many language so I am not surprise that some from Asean country, our Indonesian language is based on English, Dutch, Arabic, Japanese, Javanese and Malay.
If you curious about the peanuts sauce you can google the recipe by using keyword ,"how to make pecel" or "how to make gado-gado" you will find the recipe there since those both dish using peanuts sauce.
We are Austronesian people with cultural roots from aboriginal tribes of Taiwan...as far as Hawaii, in Hawaiian....eyes are mata and five is lima
