    I completely agree with you
I for one think that as architects and designers we cannot compose the whole situation and narrative of the work according to our idea
We need to leave room for the users to impact the design when its built otherwise we are selling lies
And thats why i think renders neednt try to be realistic because we cannot predict what the final product will look like nor how it will be used

Exactly! realistic renders dont leave any room of interpertation and it feels too "finished" when clients want to add their own touch

You should look at the new makers bureau renders for their project. I feel like they communicate the idea of the project(in renders) as though it's a dream yet to be realized, without too much detail.

I find it very interesting that like if we try to do super realistic renders we get criticised for not the right shadow or thing and that is not accurate but if we do like a collage its okay for it to not be perfect what do you guys think?

You know what yh that's actually so true, I once did like a realistic render or well I tried to but teacher kept going on ghat the bricks where not perfect.

@@artdray1015 Oh, wow tbh brick is always one of those things that hard as when you look for brick texture its always new brick.

@@TheArchitecturalInsider I use dirty bricks too sometimes though but still lol, I also about making bricks have a decent depth many images are flat.

@@artdray1015 Nice quick reply buddy. It depends on what type of rendering software you use aswell though. Like I used enscape and its not the best especially if you go up close its shite lol

As a facade engineer myself, I couldn't agree more on this topic. Great Work.

These kind of explainers are interesting to listen to, its like a presentation from a co-student of architecture. I appreciate it

Something interesting with real-life renders or just renders in general is the perception of use, how people move through a space, how they perceive it, etc. From my experience, a render or diagram rarely seems to depict this correctly, despite it being perhaps the most important aspect

    • @SurvivingArchitecture
      @SurvivingArchitecture  Год назад

Yeah that's interesting actually. I've read a research paper on the emotional response of renders and from the results, it didn't look like realism had an impact on the perception of space/use

Great video. I agree with the idea that it should be discussed, including AI generated images now. I couldn't find the Milanote referral link, is it in the description box?

When there are blue skies in London... That's when you know it's a render

I agree with you 100% and I'm really glad you spoke about this.
I personally think that hyper realism rendering turned architecture to fully commercial product. The focus goes on how to achieve realism with a little consideration for the architecture itself, the functions and user experience when it should be the opposite.

Great video I was really engaged by your explanation of realism vs naturalism and breaking down what our motivation is for trying to depict things as realistically as possible

I never show my clients realistic renders because they then get distracted by trivial details. Honestly, I don't care about your (the client's) preference for chrome ironmongery - just tell me you're happy with the space...
