That looked like the problem to me though-waiting too long to finally commit to clearing a line, while the stack just got taller and more unmanageable. Temporarily introducing a small hole here and there might have helped keep things lower as well, but...I mean, I usually only play one board at a time, maybe it wouldn't work after all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sokoban is very easy to program to start with, which means it's much easier to make the game deep and complex in more interesting ways
