The original Dayton Marine Sportyak boats were made in Detroit Michigan at Woodall Industries (they had a patent for vacuum forming) and were made in 7 foot and 8 foot models. We had a 1966 Sportyak ll model 7 foot model that sold for about $35. We sold that and got another one in 1980 a Sportyak lll 8 foot model which we still have with a 7.5 HP Sears Game fisher motor. My dad worked there for 42 years. The Sportyak original boats were used on the Grand Canyon Colorado River trips for they were almost indestructible and U.S. Coast Guard approved. Take care and thanks for your video. Those are nice little boats. There is another company that makes them now for Woodall Industries was bought out by Eaton.
When I was a kid - 45 years ago - I used to have a Sportyak. It was an awesome, nearly indestructible, boat. I am glad to see that they have not changed much over the years. I do wish they had wheels back then...
What I like about this boat is it has wheels. I have a 8.7 foot field and stream angler8 bass boat. And its a pain not having wheels. I have the same 2.5 suzuki motor too and I love it.
hello, please tell me, is this boat good for sailing in a big river (2km wide), with a stream speed of about 5 km/h, without a motor - only with oars, against the stream ???
That's the problem with boats, no matter what it's always a hassle getting them to the water. From a kayak, to this, Jon boat, etc. Just unloading/loading all the gear in and out, taking outboard on off, batteries if your using trolling motor. Must be nice to be rich and have a dock in your back yard lol.
In Korea, if a small vessel is equipped with an electric motor or an outboard motor, it must be immediately inspected, insured, and registered for driving. If you do not do so and are caught by the Coast Guard during the flight, you will have to pay a huge fine. Overseas, anyone, including adults and children, can boating without registration, but only in Korea! Coast guard try to manage their leisure life with ease. When I woke up one day, I thought I was a developed country, but when I opened my eyes, I was in a developing country! The complacency of maritime officials who do not have global accidents is ruining the Republic of Korea. It is a fact that we are struggling to keep from leaving the underdeveloped country. This is the reason why I am embarrassed.

They have been around that long?! I knew they have been around a while, but that's the longest I've heard of.

That's one of the main selling feature for me! The wheel's been very convenient and effective so far
Thanks for video

Maybe you mentioned it but I didn’t catch it, what is the weight of the boat?
Check out my blog link for more info, I think it's a little less than 90lbs.
I enjoyed the video and I also tried to purchase an 8" West Marine site, I have a question. This is Orem, Utah. Where can I purchase a boat?
Thank you
They use to sell it at west marine, but it's longer available there unfortunately.
you have to register it? is that just because you used an outboard?
That and using it in federal water, which is pretty much all of Puget Sound.

Did you try rowing at all? I'm wondering how well that works or how difficult it is
Rowing was pretty standard for this but I wouldn't use it as the main propulsion method in any body of water with current
in Türkiye $1300
Valla abi çok güzel ama onlara 500 dolar bize 1300 dolar
