Hello, I just got a CP9690 and it goes up to 2017. Burn date is August 2023 so It might be the most recent. The DC adapter is needed to read OBD 1 cars, especially with the OBD 2 connector (OBD 1.5 transition).
i like to see a review of someone actual using it step by step nice and slow.. like ok folks i got a check engine light on. lets hook this up. then go step by step. so much rambling on about stuff.
Scottys Back Yard BBQ Get one and start testing. It's easy even without checking the instruction manual. The CP9690 works on OBDI and OBDII. It's well-lit! Get 4 aaa batteries for under the rear cover. It comes in a black pouch. It retains the memory of tests until deleted. It checks live, record, graphing, emission readiness test, transmission codes, ABS, SRS, and MORE! EBAY has it.
The CP9690 identifies the vehicle after connecting it to the connector. It is well lit. It is easy to use. Warm up the engine to operating temperature. Raise the RPM'S to 2000 for about 2 minutes or longer in cold weather. It has live test. If the CTS says the CTS is 32° and the outside temp. is 88°, the CTS is bad. It can cause the engine to run rich. It can also cause the RPM'S to be high.
Thanks for take out your time to do a review I going to buy 1 for personal use is hard to find a mechanic the have a OBD1 and I have a GMC safari 95 is the firs car I love and I have newer cars but that is my baby 😎🤟
If your car has a transmission not connected to the computer, it won't give transmission codes. Warm the engine before testing. Retest after repairs. Check the radiator level first. A low radiator can cause CTS codes. It can cause hard starting. Check code connect to find solutions to codes. Leave oxygen sensor codes for last. Check the plugs and filters. The KOEO test can check the electric fans. It bypasses the CTS to turn on the electric fan. If your CTS says it's 33° and it's 88°outside, your engine may high idle and get terrible milage. Check the live test. The tester stores previous test results in it's memory. A high idle and no codes can be the CTS. The screen lights up brightly!
have you ever had a bad tps on a 5.7 chevy engine 1989 model cause a intermittent surging at idle problem. ive checked for all vacuum leaks, replace thermostat, coolant temp sensor, replaced Iac, ect. this morning I started the truck, it started surging, from normal to very low idle , almost dieing. then I drove it 10 feet, put it back in neutral and it started idling good again. truck is driving me nuts.
Texas Tough : Try blocking off the lines and unplugging the charcoal canister . The evap purge solenoid , which receives " pulse " signals , can stick open - intermittently . It then gives a vacuum leak . I had an issue on my 1987 , 2.8 V6 . By isolating the purge solenoid out of the system , the problem disappeared .Drive it for a week or two . You can also make a block off " plate " for the EGR valve out of aluminum soda cans - about 3 to 4 layers thick . If the EGR is leaking , you may have a vacuum leak . Block it off to test . Or - see if you can use a smoke machine on it . You may get lucky if you can catch it in the act and isolate it or put a scan tool on it and read the data .Good luck .
thank you my purge cannister ALWAYS stinks bad. it is in the engine compartment on the drivers side. I can smell it even with the hood closed all the time, if that is any indication . @@billsmith2212
On my 94 chevy truck, the purge cannister doesnt stick at all.. so something is amiss on my 89.. dont know if its bad and not holding the fumes anymore.
I disconnected the line from the cannister going to the evap purge valve and sucked on it with engine off, and could feel slight vacuum leaking past the valve.
Can you erase a code with this tool? Also when the code is shown only in History (no "Current" box, bcs on some it shows and "History" and "Current") it means that code gone or it is still there? Thank you for the film.
I found already that option, it is in the Diagnostic results, you need to run a Quick Test to get access to "Erase Codes". Engine light gone after this procedure (and some proceeding repairs of course, but before I erased codes it was still on). Might be helpful for someone else.
If I had to guess there is an error on car side to communicate with the scan tool. I've seen this before, and sometimes it was easy as changing a fuse. I can't say for sure what your issue is, you'll have to look more into.
Cute guy in the goatee and a bald head show us how it works man can you use it give us an example or something man it's a good it's good that that's good this is good that's good this is good it's really good it's good it's a really good good cute bald headed guy with the goat the goatee he's a cute guy

will not identify vehicles newer than 2017 even with newest firmware
Will it show a live data graph from the O2 sensors?
I believe so
Yes! It can show the oxygen sensor switching. It says oxygen sensor 1 bank one sensor 1.

texas tough Get the CP9690 or a Snap-On scanner to check codes. EBAY has them.
I bought it but it doesn't work on most of Asian cars ranging from 1998 to 2010 ..is it battery issue of what cause it does not have battery
ACT RON NOT ACKRON!
Will it work on a jeep its uses the obd 1
Thanks, for the video! Might get one. Any update on the Duster title?
not yet, but we are making head way.
Jonathan Martin Get one if you have OBDII. It has live, record, code connect, freeze frame, and MORE!
Does it do it for 1995 Nissan Maxima
It works on a 1996 Pathfinder 2WD, 4WD, Pickup, Quest, Truck 2.4

You need to update the software to it. it takes newer cars good luck!
Can this scanner read ABS, SRS and Transmission codes too? and does this work only for the vehicles sold in USA?
actron.com/content/elite-autoscanner-kit-enhanced-obd-i-and-obd-ii-scan-tool
It tests ABS, SRS, transmission codes. It works on foreign and domestic. The multi-colored cables are for OBDI. The black one is for OBDII.
Can't anyone show the Live Data in operation or the graphs on 02 sensors. Good God. WTF !
Try it on a 1995 Camaro, couldn't get it to work on mine.
Ob2 scan tool only works on 1996 and up.
Clifford Rice no the CP9690 is supposed to work on 0bd1 and 0bd2, that's why I got it.
Freddy Cansino that's right it is. I thought this was for my other scan tool review.

1995 G M 1.5 computer with obd 2 port won't work
