- South Kona, located about 10 miles south from Kailua Kona, showcases the Kona Coffee farms that Hawaii Island is known for. South Kona has a rural, friendly feel with older homes and an eclectic mix of businesses and neighborhoods. The higher elevation of Honalu, Kainaliu, Kealekekua and Captain Cook, makes this area cooler, with afternoon rain and lush foliage. Hey yo 365 what is out there for us cyclist's?? Def enjoy the Island time vibe we are continuing to look in Pahoa/hilo/Capt cook area
Why aren’t there resorts on the south side of the island, the views are great and there would be people visiting the hotels/ restaurants who stay in Kona.
Probably because the the white sand beaches are on the north side.
