- Boros aggro may be one of the best archetypes in Duskmourn but I have a horrible win rate with the color combination. I may have finally figured things out in this draft as I ended up with my best Boros deck so far in Duskmourn draft.

Omg , the opponent with the blue white deck: ghostly dancers, double gremlin tamer, and more.. probably the best deck I’ve seen in draft ever that was insane
That was my deck. I actually had 2 scavengers, 2 gremlin tamers, the dancers and a lionheart glimmer. I did get the trophy. GGs to Paul though. The indestructible fear of being hunted scared me a bit. Had to run out ghostly dancers earlier than I would have liked cause of the pressure
I think I have had a few better decks but thats from many hundreds of drafts that deck was best ive seen in a while though like only good cards lol
I had the UW eerie deck. It did end up trophying. GGs Paul. Your start was very scary but the dancers pulled me out of it!

I drafted a 3x midnight mayhem at the beginning of the format and still went 1-3 though 😅

I drafted boros 3 times this set:
1: no Arabella, no mayhem 7-1
2: 1 Arabella, no mayhem 7-2
3: no Arabella, 3 mayhem 7-1
No matter what boros on this set is cracked
You are slowly becoming my favorite drafter my man! Nummy and LSV were my go to's for years, but I find your style of drafting, deck building and commentary very useful and fun.

I remember watching early access draft and thinking that Rarran’s boros aggro deck was probably the best early access deck that I wouldn’t draft because of my aversion to aggro. However, now that I’ve played this format, the power of Arabella and midnight mayhem has convinced me.
I agree with paul that aggro in this format can look good and then turn out underwhelming. Defiant survivor in two different games going wider than our go wide deck was another good example of random durdle just being 'better'

Arabella would be the only remaining thing, and would've helped close out some games such as the one against the 6/3 unblockable double-striker

Its funny, I was drafting this morning and got the *worst* Boros deck ive drafted and thought "This must be how Paul Cheon feels"

Loved the opponent that doubled and then tripled down trying to race you.... just to get progressively more clobbered. Something to learn from that for stubborn people such as myself.
Thanks for a great video and example of RW deck! What I found could be a problem for even great looking aggressive decks is not enough card advantage/filtering. This is why I would prefer Twins over MVS (even more if you have mass pump efects). Because of that, I also like including Grab the Price more than random bad creature like 2/4 Escort and would prefer Fear of Burning Alive over Exercise and Turn inside Out over Vicious Clown.
Opponent had dollmaker shop with a creature in play. I could have won with my next attack. he cast midnight mayhem attacks me with four 5/5 and wins. best mayhem I've seen so far

I think you were right on the money evaluating Unsettling Twins vs Fear of Being Hunted - if I have an Arabella I'm happier to take the twins to get two 2-power bodies, but you didnt have that many of the archetype payoffs, so Slayer seemed like the right pick to go with your cards for sure

If he exorcised the piggy bank, rather than kill tyvar, he wins...because it would have gotten exiled and he would have use the pump to make the extra blocker....but of course hindsight is 20 20

Wickerfolk is actually bonkers. I'm appalled from seeing it wheel so late in your draft. Part of what makes it so good is the haste it has paired with all the cheap removal in those colours

You should absolutely be proud of that game 2. A lot of people would've mulled and played that all wrong. Hell, I prob would've kept the first hand and just prayed for top decks tbh.
I’ve had the most success with red this format and feel the need to get on a soapbox about turn inside out. I think it’s useful to compare to manifest dread (a top tier common in its own right) - it has the same upside of kickstarting delirium but for only one mana, plus it can help you trade up or sneak in the last few points of damage. The downside is the setup cost of creating a situation where one of your creatures dies with a red mana open, which happens almost every game. A lot of the time it plays out more like an efficient creature than like a combat trick, and it’s often a mistake to get to get too hung up on getting value out of the power boost (don’t be afraid to fire it off in response to removal just to get the manifest - you’re already getting a good deal)
I also prioritize picking up one or two ticket booths towards the middle of the pack. It takes over some long games that Boros has no business winning
Percussionist + turn inside out is so nuts. The most success I’ve had in this format has been playing gruul and that combo has carried a lot of games for me

I am no EDH player but could be convinced to dabble at some point I'm sure.
It does feel like overall the Twins would be better in most scenarios, but if you do manage to Hunter and MVS the impact is just so much higher. Five damage first strike is hard to compete with, plus it doesn't look like you're looking for that much delirium so the manifest from the twins does lose value? I don't know. Day 1 of the set my opponent saved 3 of his 2/2s from my Miasma demon & I instantly scooped lol the card may never perform that well for me & it's bothers me every time I pick it
5:55 Goat would be my pick here, I second pick it sometimes, I'm surprised you didn't consider for an aggro deck. It keeps chipping in damage and when they want to trade you have the option for a 3 mana discard one for 3 1/1 counters, it's been good here, again for Boros aggro deck.

34:08 curious why not cut the Shardmage's Rescue here? As you mentioned yourself, you don't really have any creatures worth saving (except the 5 mana mythic). And as a combat trick it's strictly worse than Jump Scare. I know it's a better card overall but in your deck that's built around 1/1 gremlins what does it really do?
52:32 couldnt you attack all and go shattered yard instead? Seven 1/1s, five of them get blocked so two damage goes through, and then the shattered yard does the last point of damage and they lose at 3hp right?
I thought of the same line, sadly Paul didn't have the 5th land in hand yet and probably dies to the Crack back after the opponent showed drag to the roots
He only had 4 mana I think, but yeah he should have sent all that turn. He said out loud that he could only take them to two, so I think he miscounted blockers or something.
Damn you really called their bluff with playing that Lionheart Glimmer when they didnt equip.
Man, honestly, I think I would have ended up Gruul or even Jund delirium splashing for Winter in this seat. Green seemed much stronger than white. That is to say I would have picked Wanderer and the first Mayhem too, but would have moved away from them

Too bad there weren’t any Arabella’s. With all those gremlins you could probably have ended games with one attack
23:03 Opponent attacking here is literally paid actor lol. They're dead on board even without your glimmer, since you have 6 2/1 attacking Gremlins and they can only block 1 of them. I'm just so baffled by the attack here.

No disrespect to your post friend...I just feel the current standard is completely ridiculous, There's no strategy required anymore. There are so many overpowered cards and broken mechanics that frankly it does remind me of yu gi oh. so many decks that can decide an outcome in the first two to three turns and overpowered cards that do way too much. I could go on but this reply was to apologize if I came off harsh towards your fine content.
