    As I get older -- I just turned 50 -- I find it increasingly difficult to connect even with my closest friends. Usually, they are busy with their own lives, families, partners, etc., which leaves me almost with a sense of abandonment. In the past year, and even more so in the past six months, I have focused on developing my art skills. This has given me a great sense of connection to *myself* and a sense of purpose. Just a couple of weeks ago, I met a wonderful woman off an online dating app, and I am hopeful we can at least have some type of companionship if nothing else.

      Thanks for sharing! This is exactly what I'm talking about. It's essential to find ways to connect with ourselves and others. We can't control the outside world, but we can certainly find ways to help us feel connection.
