- Gatekeeper Built Candy Orange 🍊 Metal Flake 2x6 Amplifier! Equipped with all Metal Clad Capacitors for a better chance of tuned stability & Longevity! This bad boy also has staging which has became a large seemed out option through out the years.
I built this beautiful RF Amplifying Machine over 2 years ago for a buddy of mine Mr. BIRD DOG!
CONTINUING my older school approach of Splitting and Combinning, I went with a 1 turn port held hybrid coupling setup. You get to achieve the same result with less parts then the common day Davemadw method.
Mr. BBI Luke Miller claims that this style does work but isn't as efficient as the modern way of getting the RF to "THREE" 2 Transistor sections. I have been curious about this and am currently building 2 identical 6 Pill Amps. One this way, one that way. So that I can see side by side comparisons. No matter how long I have been doing this type of work, I WILL NEVER be to good or to old to learn a better way and reprove my self if need be.

I have a question for the amp builders like bbi GK and technine , has anyone tried to license the 2879 or 2290’s from Toshiba . Because there seems to be a hell of a market for the transistors. From $25 a piece to $250 each come on there has to be a market cause there sure is a need lol. Great content sir. Thanks
Only problem though is it takes very very safiaticated equipment to reproduce those devices exactly the same....also since there seem to be a market for them which there is, compared on a world wide scale which Toshiba is....it would be a line on a chart so tiny compared to the size of a hair compared to other items that they produce. For some reason Toshiba hasn't shared what needs to be shared or Macom would have recreated them just like they did the MRF421 & 454 etc....I am just glad I contacted HG SEMICONDUCTORs when I did and helped us get the HG line of transistors that has kept this company going :) I am also glad that I wasn't full of my self and got them to make me a transistor with my name on it or who knows where we would be now.

nice build! love that driver stage. I know what you mean about metal clads . ICA only had 1000PF 500V left . last 6 pill I did was a wile back . 1 two pill section kept blowing pills. I took it down checking all parts. found 150Pf output tune cap went down to 68Pf and drop when get hot. I checked the outher 2 and they off but 120Pf they read. but fall off when heat them. they used mylar caps. at the time I had metal clads . I don't now. I now have HG SD 1446 to play with . just 2. also HG 2SC2510 24V pills (2) came today . I have bule metal oxide 3W 200 ohm and 100 ohm 5% resistors . same size as 2W . from different supplier. I even got orange 2W resistors. some 1% some 5% . watch voltage on HG . I don't run over 15V . their is a trick with NEG bias that allows to turn voltage up and drive up but box will be dirty 2nd and 3rd order harmonics bad. I have LED fans coming for computer work. amazon has them . 5V and 12V even in 140mm size. PC gamming case had 140MM fans not 120MM . loving the new SSD drives. starting a collection of old HDD drives now. pulls from up grades. The lowest voltage reg IC I found was 3.2V but the ADG LM723 will go down to 1.2V . will work for MOS transistors. use a multi turn pot. to set gate voltage.73's

Honestly I'm not sure for a wide banded amp it may be less.
