I find myself dropping my top hand and doing an overlap then notice I'm not getting as consistent results with contact if I were to keep my top hand fully on the handle. It's totally just a personal preference. Glad to see you doing videos again, I think it was a few years since I saw an upload!

I theorize the main benefit people will gain from the full overlap grip is having to commit to rolling the wrists. On a standard baseball grip, that whip and wrist rolling may get out of sync.... but for someone like you that trains in a cage off a tee, you have the skills and mechanics to see similar whip results with both grips. You hit them both so hard that I'm surprised there isn't a wall full of sunlight coming through softball-sized holes.

I've dabbled with various grips for years. Honestly, I feel like the normal baseball grip produces the best overall results. I do drop the pinky on the bottom hand over the knob. It all boils down to bat control. I found that I was mishitting way too many balls with the overlap grip. I also found it hard to generate backspin consistently. With a regular baseball grip you get far more top hand control. Learning how to get inside the ball and drive it with backspin consistently is FAR more important than simply attacking it with the overlap grip.
The overlap grip is definitely worth learning, but it isn't something you should use for every AB or in every situation. IMO putting the knob in the palm of your bottom hand and dropping a finger or two is more important, and will produce better results quickly and easily.

The bat gets “heavier” because your turning a 34 inch bat into a 35+ inch bat. If you kept the same bat speed with a 35 inch bat your going to hit the ball much farther but you’ll sacrifice control. This test isn’t correct, he just has a good snap and a ton of bat speed...
