Most definately in recent times, but the selling off public assets to private business was one of their worst decisions, in 5 years the price pretty much doubled.
Still highly volatile compared to thorium. The nixon administration had a chance to move the future forward, but they wanted to promote uranium reactors so that they could use the energy readings to hide local nukes.

Some really great speeches here. I plan to sit with my buddy and show him this superb edition of IPA. One small issue, regarding our national security: of course energy security is paramount, in my opinion. I don't want my youngsters growing up with any hint of Islam in Australia because they will destroy our nation from within. Another problem? Probably bigger than energy supply.
All of these options for energy, require 5 X more mining than coal. Why are we doing anything at all. Our country is already energy efficient, with 0.001 percent of world emissions!!
Over the last 30 years, we have allowed manufacturing to decline from 14% of GDP to 5%. The popularity of Engineering as a profession continues to increase for foreign students , and decrease for Australian students. Building a domestic nuclear industry in Australia to replace base load fossil fuel generators will require 30+ years, and then it likely won't have any work for the next 50 years. Politicising major infrastructure decisions is a bad idea - we don't need to repeat the nbn fiasco. Removing the ban on nuclear power, and ensuring market regulation drives government policy objectives, will allow the market to find an optimal mix of technologies for the transition to net zero.

We shouldn’t have solar and wind at all in this country except in very remote areas as we have heaps of resources. We have also have more than enough expertise but are held back by government without vision. You would have to say this is being controlled higher up the chain.

It's true. Australia's wealth is trickling away. We were once the lucky country. Not any more . .
Not with these fukwits at the helm. It'll take some real balls to get us out of the overall shit pile that Labor has put us in.
We have become the lazy, looking for handouts country. Thats what socialism brings. Unaware of any exaples of it being successful.
