@@kel_seyy talk to your dentist, they can show you how. or if you can’t go to a dentist, watch a tutorial online. brushing is very important for oral health, but so it flossing and using mouthwash. for me, i didn’t brush or floss consistently for years and ended up having cavities between most of my teeth. typically cavities form between teeth or on top of molars, and the only way to avoid it is by flossing once daily. you can also develop horrible diseases in your mouth like thrush (yeast infection on your tongue), which are very painful and cause bad breath. so yeah, anybody who doesn’t floss, please start!!
The gaps don'tnecessarily mean receding gums. They are quite common with orthodontic treatment where papilla is not properly formed between crooked teeth, and when they get straightened it doesn't fill it as it should.
Going through this right now. Had no triangles prior to Invisalign and the moment my crowed top from teeth were seperate her comes the triangle and that was the explanation my orthodontist gave.
As an orthodontist, I always explain to patients (who are at risk of this) that they very likely will develop these black triangles. I proceed to show them examples with photos. In some patients, it can be minimized. In others, they are S.O.L. and that it a very difficult conversation indeed. My very wise instructor in orthodontic school told me 22 years ago: “If you tell a patient ahead of time what will happen, it is an EXPLANATION. If you tell them after it happens, it is an EXCUSE.” I explain a lot of stuff the first day I meet someone.
I have what you guys call the black triangle between my bottom 2 front teeth because, my gum line behind my bottom front teeth is completely receded from my tongue ring, which is why I don't wear anymore even though I love it!

I’m currently doing Invisalign and when the crowding started to disappear the triangles showed up. The treatment was done and he asked me if I had refinements and I told him I didn’t like the gaps. We started more trays and he “sawed” in between my two top and bottom teeth to help with the gap.

I have a large black triangle because an orthodontist didn't realize i had an unerupted canine on the bottom left when he put braces on my bottom front teeth to pull over an incisor that was coming in sideways and in the wrong place. Now that unerupted canine is still in my jaw, but in between my incisors, leaving me with a large black triangle. And I take good care of my teeth.

When I was younger I had a proper gap between my front teeth (that I actually really liked), but then I had a bunch of stuff done because my mouth is really small and my front teeth got pushed together to create room, so now I have a big triangle and I very much so dislike it.

I had to have a skin graft surgery (in my mouth!) when I was 11 years old because I had horrible gum resorption. It wasn't due to me not brushing or flossing either, I've never had a cavity and im 32! It just was a receding gum line on the bottom. Weird.
It can be because of continuous forces towards that area or an irritation. Plaque is not the only reason. Maybe you were having some paradontal habits like sucking the front part of your gums.

Most tribal peoples tend to have gaps between their teeth but they have really healthy teeth and perfectly developed jaw lines due to lack of processed food. I think a bit of a gap is fine and possibly somehow could be even advantageous as long as the teeth are straight

This is old but it is ironic. I asked my dentist if I should get retreatment (I had braces as a kid and he does Invisalign very well but I would probably go to an orthodontist for that). Anyway, he told me the small gap I developed after I had my youngest (mine is more towards canines) is from gum recession and he wouldn’t bother worrying about it. I got it after throwing up non stop when I was pregnant. I had issues with all 3 pregnancies. We both decided that retreatment wasn’t for me and he gave me sensodyne and checked the bonding that treated the exposed area that was fixed 4 years ago in that area. Even that small amount hurts when exposed and gum recession isn’t a walk in the park. Get it under control with a good dentist.

I can’t floss too often because if I do try to floss, I can pull out one of my caps and it’ll hurt very bad. Yeah I have 4 square gaps, they don't bother me because I didn't notice them until now
that explains why my dentist keeps saying braces or any correction would be expensive and just for cosmetic purposes

A tip on making that brace break.. chew on a pen or pencil on the bracket… I’ve done it many times😢
I have a black triangle, but that was from my front teeth pushing forward my bottom teeth and my gums receding from it.

😢😢 i got 2 gaps after getting my wisdom teeth taken out. My teeth were so beautiful before getting them taken out. I asked my dentist if i could get braces or something to fill in my gaps. Sadly I can't because I'll just make my teeth worse. It is now an insecurity. 😢

I you already have a gap like that, would flossing help prevent more? Would flossing still be good, even if your gum tissue ist decreasing? Also... How do you prevent this with a bonded retainer?
