  • After about 2 months, I have finally received my PSA grades from a collection of 25 cards, 23 being Vintage Pokemon cards.
    In the video I also discuss the potential profits or lack there of from the grading process and offer my reaction and insights into the returns.

    Pretty cool return. Vintage cards like these are great in any grade as long as they arent tore the hell up.

      I agree for sure! Just shocked at some of the scores haha

    On that Rhystic study you were doomed from the start, if you look at the black boarder around the card you can clearly see it's way thicker on the left side than it is on the right
    (You can really immediately notice it when you look at the bottom right corner of the card and then compare it to the bottom left corner)
    It might even be slightly rotated counter clock wise as you can see in the bottom right the black margin clearly gets thicker left-to-right and the top black margin gets thicker right-to-left

      Also the reason Seadra got graded lower is again the boarders, look at your haunter and then look at Seadra; you'll see Seadra's top boarder is way thicker than the bottom boarder; it's a matter of bad setting of the card cutting
      Atleast it was less bad compared to the Rhystic study's rotation, so i'd imagine that's why it didn't lose more

      Ya I didn't really know anything about his process when I sent them in frankly. The magic cards just don't seem to be something worth grading anyway unless they are super old.

    Not bad grades for vintage that was actually opened over 20 years ago! Just a note on PSA grading process - It's renowned for being inconsistent at times. There are really good guides on RUclips for what specifically to look for when submitting to give yourself the best chance, but there's never a guarantee. Also, Japanese cards have much higher print quality that English cards so if you have more of them I'd definitely recommend submitting them as there's a good chance the grades will trend higher than the English cards.

      Thanks for weighing in! I have about 10 more, but I'm looking at the prices and its likely they would not gain much value if I got them at an 8. I'm going to try to sell a few of these ones first and see if they fly off the shelves, but its good to know that the Japanese cards grade so well comparatively.
      I'll look more into the grading process for next time though. I have all these 151 cards I need to think about as well, especially the Charizard and Alakazam.

      @@acegamestv Japanese vintage is a double edged sword. Because the print quality is higher it means the average grade on the market is higher, so lower grades are worth even less. Most vintage japenese packs also had a holo guaranteed in every pack, so they're a lot more common.

    always a good idea to get them graded if you like the card itself for the personal collection! makes it look way prettier and it protects the cards fully so you cant damage it anymore accidently. also PSA and all other grading companies are super inconsistent so dont feel bummed out. i had 7s go to 10s with PSA its just luck of the draw with the grader.

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  5 дней назад

      Ya I won't really be planning on keeping any of these but I really do like the PSA slabs. My next fascination is to use the money I make from the cards to reinvest into the 151 PSA cards.

      Ya, sadly it seems like a huge rip off if you actually intend to sell cards.
      There are cards that SHOULD sell well, but PSA charges so much they will never be valuable.

    ye i think on the cards where u thought they were in really good condition and would have been thousands of dollars, u might want to consider sending them to a different grader. a view years back when there was this tremendous hype for pokemon cards i watched streamers open old unopened booster boxes, litteraly surgically opening the packs and putting the cards in sleeves and sending them in for grading, and even then they did not even get a 10 and most of them were 8. to me all that grading from psa seems rly fishy

    • @zachosrs9330
      @zachosrs9330 13 дней назад

      Not defending PSA here, but there's a lot that can be wrong with a card before it's ever removed from a pack, especially vintage.

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  13 дней назад +1

      Ya sadly don't think the resale value is anywhere near as good for the other companies. Pretty much has to be PSA or a 9-10 on the others.
      These cards I expected 7 MAYBE 8 on, so that wouldn't really help me with another company.

  • @getitfaster021
    @getitfaster021 10 дней назад

    Those 5’s must have some tiny dents or something. If a card has even the slightest indentation PSA won’t give any higher than a 5, even if it’s otherwise in good condition. Still a very nice haul, love that Dark Charizard

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  10 дней назад

      Oh really!? That makes a lot of sense then, because its hard to understand how visually these cards are all the same quality.

    nice video, you had bad expectations psa is very hard on vintage for one. secondly any whitening like that blastoise on the top is going to drop it to at least a 6. if it has more wear than obvious whitening like that will continue to drop in number. never have expectations on vintage unless its pack fresh. its hard to see with the naked eye. you have to use super bright light just like psa does to get a glance at any of the damage.

      Gotcha, I took the advice of some one early on in the process and I guess I got my head up in the clouds.
      He thought the Blastoise was at least a 7 so I just compared all the other cards to it haha.
      Ya live and ya learn! They are still selling well even at 5 so it's all good.

      Oh, ya well that's a good thing! You have your whole life ahead of you. If you are serious about collecting cards now, talk to your parents or guardian and let them know its a passion of yours and your goals.
