Being narrower, my guess is the PX71 might be a bit quicker edge-to-edge. But the PX81 feels just fine edge-to-edge and I'm coming from my old skis, 63mm waist width. I ski on-piste groomed runs. Haven't had a chance to ski the PX81 on fresh powder yet.
It's really about quickness. A 71 mm underfoot ski is pretty tricky to balance on, as you're getting in to race-like widths. If you're a skier looking to carve but not be on a thin edge all the time, I'd go 81, but if you want super-quick edge to edge performance with no compromises, the 71 is legit.
Picked up this ski last week. Fantastic ski, does what I want but also forgiving of my mistakes.
Excellent ski! Thanks for the feedback, Jim.
Any idea how this compares to the Kastle PX71?
