Michelle, Everything turned out so pretty, the blue is beautiful. I would use and open headboard, like you said possibly a spindle but definitely more open and airy. Kittens are adorable 😍. 💜💜💜
Love the blue. I may have an idea for headboard. How about taking plywood and get stuffing then staple some beautiful material that matches your pillow. That's a great diy project.

Our bed has to sit in front of our bedroom too and we have a headboard. I feel like it provides some structure for the bed and helps support the pillows so they look better. The whole bed looks more finished.

Maybe a metal spindle headboard would be nice. Pretty blue in the bedroom and love how the lamps turned out.
